I
recently
attended
a
300-hour
yoga
teacher
training
at
Yoga
Breeze
Bali
in
Kuta,
Bali
and
am
compelled
to
share
my
deeply
unsettling
experience.
This
program,
led
by
Julie,
was
a
far
cry
from
the
transformative
journey
I
had
anticipated.
Accommodation
Concerns:
The
training
was
hosted
at
an
outdated
hotel
in
Kuta,
an
area
that
felt
unsafe
and
uncomfortable.
The
hotel's
condition
and
location
significantly
detracted
from
the
overall
experience.
Inadequate
Meal
Provision:
The
meals
provided
were
a
major
disappointment.
Breakfasts
were
provided
by
the
hotel's
buffet
and
were
predominantly
oily,
fried
foods
without
gluten-free
options,
forcing
me
to
prepare
my
meals
independently
in
my
room.
Lunches
consisted
of
unappetizing,
small
portions
of
fake
meats
and
carbs
falling
short
of
the
nourishing,
healthy
vegetarian
options
typically
expected
in
Bali.
Many
students,
including
myself,
would
skip
or
throw
away
their
lunches
because
they
were
so
gross
and
made
us
feel
weighed
down
by
the
carbs
and
unhealthy
food.
Dinner
was
not
provided,
and
Julie
even
suggested
skipping
meals,
which
was
alarming.
Considering
the
price
of
the
training
as
well
as
the
nature
of
the
training,
the
food
provided
should
have
been
healthy
and
clean
like
most
trainings
in
Bali.
I
would
avoid
this
training
based
off
the
food
alone.
Misleading
Marketing
and
Poor
Course
Structure:
The
course
was
advertised
as
an
exclusive
300-hour
training
for
a
limited
group
of
12.
However,
it
turned
out
to
include
a
mix
of
200
and
300-hour
students,
with
the
latter
having
to
redundantly
repeat
the
200-hour
curriculum.
This
misrepresentation
wasted
our
time,
money,
and
effort,
especially
when
our
concerns
were
met
with
hostility
and
dismissal
by
Julie.
She
was
extremely
cruel
and
screamed
at
myself
and
another
300
hour
student
and
told
us
to
leave
the
program
if
we
were
not
happy.
Both
of
us
had
to
put
on
a
fake
smile
for
the
remainder
of
the
3
weeks
and
hated
our
lives
everyday.
Unprofessional
Behavior
of
Instructors:
The
teachers,
including
Julie,
often
displayed
rude
and
disheartening
behavior,
making
us
feel
unsupported
and
unsafe.
This
negative
atmosphere
was
pervasive
and
demoralizing
for
all
students.
Sandy
was
one
of
the
only
teachers
who
actually
wanted
the
students
to
succeed
and
helped
the
300
hour
students
advance
their
practice.
Insensitive
and
Triggering
Comments:
Julie's
comments
about
mental
and
physical
health,
particularly
regarding
eating
disorders,
were
triggering
and
insensitive.
Her
dismissal
of
our
feedback
with
a
flippant
"don't
take
it
seriously"
further
exacerbated
the
situation.
Adverse
Impact
on
Well-being:
This
experience
took
a
severe
toll
on
my
mental
and
physical
health.
The
environment
and
interactions
were
so
distressing
that
they
led
to
frequent
episodes
of
depression
and
crying.
It
took
me
weeks
after
the
retreat
to
finally
be
at
peace
and
happy
in
my
body
again.
Subjective
and
Demoralizing
Feedback:
The
feedback
provided
by
the
instructors
was
often
subjective
and
disheartening,
lacking
constructiveness
and
empathy.
Overall
Negative
Experience:
In
summary,
this
program
felt
more
like
a
money-making
bootcamp
rather
than
a
spiritual,
enriching
yoga
teacher
training.
It
was
an
overwhelming
disappointment
and
a
significant
waste
of
time,
money,
and
emotional
investment.
I
strongly
advise
potential
attendees
to
reconsider
enrolling
in
this
program.
The
experiences
detailed
here
starkly
contrast
with
the
transformative
and
supportive
environment
one
expects
from
a
yoga
teacher
training,
especially
in
a
place
as
serene
as
Bali.
If
I
could
give
this
training
0
stars
I
would.
Truly
the
only
person
who
helped
me
through
this
process
was
Sandy
and
he
was
even
shocked
by
the
way
we
were
treated
by
Julie.
