A place you must visit! It is extremely important for all people, and very educational, because it is related to the past of all of us. The staff is kind and helpful. I just wouldn’t recommend it in the summer. Because finding it is under glass, and it can be exhausting.

This is a cool place for children over the age of 14, so that they can understand just how old these finds are. Otherwise, it will be very curious to discover the cemetery of ancient people. Examine all the statues and bones of ancient people, and watch a film about the place. And explore all the plants along the road on the way to the car park. As an attraction, the place is worth a visit. 550 dinars entrance fee.

It is perfect place to visit. There is a parking area at the location and it is free. Later ypu have to walk 5 minutes to museum. Enterance fee is 500 rsd. First of all you watch really good movie for 15 minutes about excavations which is quite funny and good. It is not boring informative movie but filmed during excavations by team so it is excited to see their work and hapiness. Later there is one room where they exhibit the sculptures that found here. You can see excavation area and 2 experimental houses (built to show their lifestyle). Your visit probably take 45 minutes but it s worth it! Additionally, There is small restaurant near parking area.

Always worth it (third time I visit while in Serbia) never disappointing, the walk towards there in the middle of a forest and an etno part of the grounds is truly wonderful, the museum itself is a wonder and they add something new every year. Very interesting and informative for all ages and does not take long to visit.

8,000 years ago, these men lived in peace for more than 2,000 years. No wars or violence. No archaeological remains show signs of it. They had plenty of food, water, and time to be happy and to dedicate themselves to art. In fact, they are the oldest known artists in Europe. Impressive.

This is the place that everyone should/must visit. Great prehistoric value as the cradle of the European civilization. The place where everything started. It's necessary for truth to be told. Great experience. Must visit place!!!

Amazing site that house a reproduction of ancient (8000+ year old) ruins of a village. The site is informative and interesting ... probably worth reading a little bit about what happened here before going, or find a guide who will help inform you ... but a amazing structure built to showcase this amazing archaeological find.

(Translated by Google) Given the fact that Lepenski vir is the oldest human settlement in Europe, it should definitely be visited. There is too much to talk about the beauty of the Danube, nature and the entire environment. You just have to see the customs. It's a nice place and good archeological work. But not much to see and understand for visitors. Not much knowledge gained from visiting. Also sit hand this ability to feel myself in those times like one of the inhabitant of the settlement... But nice views around. I think this is good place if you are traveling around and want to go nearby anyway. But I wouldn't recommend, if you are going to drive few hours one way just to visit this place as I did.

A very interesting and informative exhibition, brought to life by a video and reconstruction of a 9000 year old settlement. Amazing facts, such as: people lived here continuously for 4000 years, Only 2 teeth were missing from all if the skeletons found, One man was over 6 feet tall, One man died aged 65. All of this in a very scenic setting. Very well worth visiting.

Despite being an archaeological graduate [admittedly in the past century] I hadn't heard about this site! It was also used in the Serbian movie 'Ivana the Terrible'. It's well worth the stop if you are in the Iron Gates region even if you are not that interested in archaeology as they really make it accessible and simple to learn about. The site/museum is set in beautiful woodlands and has exhibits and an excellent film from the 60s which eerily documents the discovery of this highly unusual, almost preternatural, culture of humans.

Great way of getting to know about our ancestors. Interesting fact #1 The culture that lived in Lepenski vir survived for two millennia without wars and major conflicts. Interesting fact #2 The residents used the mountain on the picture as a calendar. On the summer equinox, the sun rises directly above its peak. The mountain also inspired how they modelled their homes.

A surprising visit to a museum featuring archaelogical finds of a pre-historic Serbian settlement dating back even earlier than the Egyptian or even maybe Sumerian civilization. Can be found south of the Danube river in east Serbia. Included in a tour organized by Victor Tours of Belgrade.

One of the most unique sites on our cruise. To see the village that humans made 10,000 years ago was phenomenal. To see the bodies and how intake they were. A must see.

Nice to see, but the whole reconstructed village is actually a replica - the original was flooded during the construction of the hydroelectric power plant "Đerdap". A bit overpriced for the content quality. Nice souvenirs. Friendly staff. Clean toilettes. Too hot in the main room - other rooms are climatized.

Lepenski Vir is one of the largest and most significant Mesolithic and Neolithic archaeological sites. It is located on the right bank of the Danube in the Djerdap Gorge , in Serbia , in the central part of the Balkan Peninsula . This locality, named after the Danube vortex, was the seat of one of the most important and complex cultures of prehistory . Between 1965 . and 1970. a fishing hunting settlement with the beginnings of cultivation and domestication was discovered. During the excavations, seven successive settlements and 136 buildings (both residential and sacral) built in the early Mesolithic were discovered, in the period from around 9500 to 7200 BC (Proto Lepenski vir 1 and 2), and then in the early and Middle Neolithic, from around 6250 to 5500 BC (Lepenski Vir I-III). The main head of research at this site was Professor Dr. Dragoslav Srejović , archaeologist, academician and professor at the University of Belgrade .

Very interesting place. It's hard to believe that such a place exists, I guess it is because is so secluded and not much advertised. Definitely worth visiting. Not too many visitors at the time when we visited but don't let that discourage you. You'll get to see very interesting objects dated back 8500 years B.C.E. I'm not going to spoil it for you therefore just go there and see it for yourself!

There are a lot of significant sculptures here that we still talk about in art or history, and they are really an interesting work of people from that time. If you are interested in such things and want to see how people lived in the past, I recommend you to visit Lepenski vir.

Lepenski Vir is very educational, historical and beautiful. Prehistoric archaelological site in the nature's reserve od Đerdap National Park, setted on Danube river. In the visitors center there is a site where the old settelments used to be, a museum with jewerly, carved signs, stones and bones from the year of 1965, but also a virtual presentation. Historical move is played in the amphiteather, while outside is a souvenir shop. We enjoyed it very much.

(Translated by Google) I went to this amazing historical place prepared - I read a lot of materials in advance and felt a certain thrill to be where such a noticeable leap in the development of human society took place. The place is remarkable even nowadays - what is the Treskavac peak worth, which seems to be not just standing here, but doing something of its own. :) The museum is large-scale, impressive construction. The video made it possible to feel the atmosphere of the excavation time, but it seems to me that the story was more interesting. So I told my companions everything I know and what is supposed to be. Therefore, it was interesting for us. As far as I understand, if you want to listen to the guide, you have to order him in advance. In general, it is really interesting to see this and try to understand how everything worked out here and how the community lived. It is interesting to feel yourself in the cosmic beauty of the museum. The path that leads into it is a separate pleasure, and the old houses are very pleasing to the eye. This museum provides its own special opportunities and experiences, different from the rest.

In terms of historic significance, Lepenski Vir ranks at the top. It's a must see if visiting Serbia. The settlement dates back to 8000 BC, and was discovered by a farmer in the sixties. There's a documentary explaining the excavation process inside the facility. There's also a virtual recreation of the site from 8000 years ago, which you freely explore.

Great place to stop by when you are traveling to or from Golubac fortress. Historic place to see the ruins of First ancient civilization in east Europe. Place could use more restaurant and refreshment area because of its remote location.

It's a monument and an evidence of 8000 years old culture. Well built open space concept museum tucked in a forest right on a Danube bank. I only wish the roads were better but otherwise locality is a must see.

The archeological site is one of the oldest in the world and dates from 6000 years B.C. Remarkable statues, tools and house replicas of one of the first civilisations on the planet.

Great museum close to Danube River. This is the place where the Lepenski Vir culture is rooted. Important to see and to learn more about this unique monolithic culture. Special thanks to Vladimir Nojković, the director of the museum for the guided tour of Lepenski Vir.

This is what we may call extremely important historical place. This is place where one of the first civilization decided to start life next to river. You may learn about their life, habits, art, construction, about death. You may find 3d simulator and their original homes reconstructions. Felt deepest respect to all that people, especially for art they made. Have to admit they knew to respect what they had and learned to live grateful to all they had.

Nice museum. Very educational but i can't shake the feeling there is very little to see or hear that you didn't already know or could guess about history of people that used to live there. But the documentary film about how the digsite was found is interesting so it s worth visiting but don't expect too much.

Lepenski Vir is one of the largest and most significant Mesolithic and Neolithic archaeological sites. It is located on the right bank of the Danube in the Djerdap Gorge, in Serbia, in the central part of the Balkan Peninsula. This locality was the seat of one of the most important and complex cultures of prehistory, the Lepenski Vir culture.
