National park Tara is one of 5 Serbian national parks. It stands out from other parks by its Serbian spruce forests (a protected and endangered species), discovered by botanist Josif Pancic in 1875. Besides spruce, the park is also characterized by primeval forests of beech and fir. The park was founded in 1981, and it includes Tara and Zvijezda mountains. I would recommend leaving a whole day for this! Tara is huge and there are several main points where you could start discovering it.

Magnificent nature! At the first the place is very calm and peaceful. Some parts are very similar to Swiss Alps. Lot s of paths to hike and camp. Everywhere is green and clean and people are lovely and very hospitable. It's mostly rainy and cool. Loved it...

Tara national park is one of the many in Serbia that's worth visiting. It's amazing in all seasons. My favorite season is summer since i enjoy being outdoors, and the nature during summer there is breathtaking. You can hike, camp, theres even rafting on Tara river. Not far away is Piva river, one of the few pristine european rivers, so clean you can safely drink right out of it. Mokra gora, Drvengrad, Sargan 8 is near, as is the train to Visegrad.

One of kind places that you can connect with mother nature. Amazing forest and fresh water all around, beautiful scenery.

If you had a chance to only visit one place in Serbia, just go there! Better to have at least 1 full day to explore the place. Lots of restaurants with local cuisines and a place to stay for every taste: hotels, hostels, camping sites. Best way to go there is by car!
