(Translated by Google) The Church of St. Basil of Ostrog is, as far as architecture is concerned, probably one of the most unusual and unique Orthodox churches in Belgrade. The inside is completely painted, even the incinerator, which is often not painted. I recommend everyone to visit it! Although it is located by the road, there is always peace and tranquility in and around the temple.

(Translated by Google) The Church of St. Basil of Ostrog was built from 1996 to 2000. The project of the church was conceived by the famous Belgrade architect Mihajlo Mitrović. As one of the most important representatives of brutalism, architect Mitrović left significant works in his rich career, such as: Genex Tower, Hotel "Putnik" in New Belgrade, and general plans of several Serbian cities. The project for the construction of the temple on Bežanijska kosa was also his last big project. Mitrović sought inspiration for the creation of this project in early Christian architecture, adding modernist and details of plain architecture. Conceived as a building of simple structure, the church was built in the shape of a rotunda, with three lower additions: a three-leafed altar apse on the east, a porch on the west and a bell tower on the south. A detail that represents an element of plain architecture, is the vaulted porch that connects the bell tower and the rotunda. Due to the impressive facade in the form of a red brick and the shape of the temple, many even today this temple reminds of the Church of St. Anthony of Padua in Vracar. The construction of the temple officially began with the consecration of the cross and the land by the Serbian Patriarch Pavle, on June 9, 1996, but under the name of the Church of St. Demetrius at the request of the patriarch. However, at the insistence of the parishioners and members of the construction committee, the church was dedicated to St. Basil of Ostor. For that purpose, during the consecration of the foundation, on May 25, 1997, a stone brought from Ostrog was laid in the very foundation. The church was consecrated on May 12, 2001, while the works on the fresco painting of the church and the construction of the parish home began the following year. The icon painter Dragomir Marunić was in charge of the fresco painting of the temple, who painted almost 1000 meters of the interior of the temple in the style of the Moravian school. In addition to the frescoes, the temple is decorated with mosaics made by Professor Vlado Todorović, while the studio "Stanišić" from Sombor was in charge of making the stained glass windows that are on all the windows of the temple. One of the youngest temples in Belgrade, the Church of St. Basil of Ostrog, was a very active spiritual center from the very beginning. Among the first missionary activities was the launch of the forum "Conversations on Faith", thanks to archpriest-staurophore Petar Ilić, followed by lectures by important Orthodox church figures and theologians, plays, religious education for adults, workshops for children and more. In addition to this, the temple is known for publishing the magazines "Ostrog" and "Prvolik", as well as for the mixed and children's choir that have existed since 2001 ...

Amazing Holly Place (Church) in Belgrade. It is hidden from downtown of city, and quite calming surrounding area. It is also have interesting structure (design). It is circular, which is quite atypical for Orthodox Church. It is a must visit in Belgrade.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, this church, this temple of GOD, will forever remind me of the saddest moments of my life. I came there for the last time with my mother Nada, who passed away on St. Basil of Ostrog in 2020. The other pictures are the only ones I have that we are together, right in front of the entrance. Now I buy candles there, which I light on the grave and that is what I will always do, that's how much my grief is related to this temple.

(Translated by Google) Our paths can go here and there, more or less rightly or wrongly, but in the Church we are peacefully awaited by our dear, dear saints who care for us, understand our wanderings, help us and protect us.
