I can't wait to return! Sometimes you find a hotel or resort that immediately makes you feel calm, relaxed, and grateful you've booked the right place. Bagus Beach Resort is definitely in this category. From the moment I stepped into the vast grounds resplendent with old Bali charm, I knew it was going to feel like home very quickly. I was immediately greeted by the resort manager, Pak Widi, who is extremely friendly and exceedingly knowledgeable about the region's attractions and history, as well as about Balinese culture. Make sure you spend some time talking to him, he's a really lovely guy! The resort itself perfectly captures the mood of North Bali tourism: peaceful, relaxed, slower-paced, it's a bit like stepping back in time to 20 years ago, when travelers stayed for about a month, learnt some Indonesian and Balinese, whiled away the days reading books and walking, and just growing to really love and respect the place. The room I stayed in couldn't have been cozier, and was spotlessly clean. The breakfast prepared by Pak Widi's beautiful wife, Ibu Jero Made, was absolutely delicious - she makes the island's best 'jaje Bali' - traditional sweets. She's extremely talented, and a very kind soul. Bali's tourism industry will be suffering from the impact of Covid-19 for a long time to come, and the more remote parts of the island especially so. If you want to really make your rupiah count, skip the south and head up to the north. You'll be rewarded in spectacular sunsets and grateful smiles for doing so! Matur suksma Pak Widi and Ibu Jero Made, sampai ketemu lagi!

Such a difficult review to write. The manager and staff are first class and really do their best to make ones stay as enjoyable as possible. Our room was l literally a one minute walk from the Java Sea which was such a warm and safe place to swim. The pool was clean and again less than a minute from the room. Linen was clean and sheets changed after a coup,e of days. The air con in our room worked perfectly. Because of Covid, and an owner not too willing to spend money, not everything is as good as before the pandemic, but the staff bend over backwards. We will go again. It is an ideal location if You have a scooter or a car, but the manager will drive you into Lovina itself where there is a delightful cake shop plus restaurants etc. Really nice. A short walk from the resort (turn right) is Meme Warung which is cheap with great food. A few metres from there is Krisna Funland which has an incredible range of souviners at really cheap local prices, unlike in Lovina where they try to charge five + times as much. It also has a food area selling local and western food. There is also a coffee shop there. Further down, about twenty minutes, is Krisna Osea which is a water based funpark.

It was a lovely looking resort and the room was comfortable. The pool was nice and the massage I had was fabulous. On the negative side, the breakfast was very basic and the resteraunt was never open. The scooter rental is very high and the staff made us feel like we were an inconvenience.

Wonderful grounds with tons of fruit trees and a giant, clean, and not-over-chlorinated pool. Highly recommend the masseuse on site; they are lucky to have such a gem on their team. Would have been five star rating, but a few things threw us off. Mainly the bathroom had no shower curtain and the toilet flushing mechanism was broken so the water would run if you didn’t manually shut it off, but also the breakfast was bland, starving street cats beg at your feet, and the boy working the front desk was inattentive. Otherwise a wonderful stay and very much worth the price.

This resort, obviously has old glory but was very welcoming. They helped us out when coming in. Upgraded our room to a deluxe room for free. This with thanks to Budi. Who was very hospitable. The pool was clean. And we got lucky on the night we stayed there. As nobody was there but us ( 3 friends and me).

Great location by the sea, just outside Lovina in Bali's north coastline. Nice garden, pool, direct acess to the beach. Room in semidetached villa comfy, with basic but essential things. Brkfast nice, wifi ok, right on national road easy to see with large entrance park before the scattered villas

This is a quiet private beach. So relaxing just by sitting here by the beach. But unfortunately the water is dirty dan there are some garbages along the beach

We had a wonderful stay here and I have never met so nice and welcoming staff in any other place in Bali. The resorts is under new management and just started running. But they have already all the facilities; swimming pool, restaurant, spa and they will help you to organise any tours or transportation needed. It’s situated right besides the beach and is very calm and nice with pretty garden.

Quite old room interior design for superior / standart room. We were stayed only a night, is good enough for short visit. Pool and garden is nice, but i think need to take care more about beach cleanness. So far is ok

If you want value for money this is it! This was just outstanding - cannot recommend enough! We paid £9 a night for a room and got a free upgrade as soon as we came! The room was spotless and kept clean everytime we left! There was a few things - other than the amazing upgrade - that put this place infront of anywhere else we stayed! One of the staff members - putu wini - was amazing with us! He spent a whole evening just speaking to me and my partner! A whole 2 hours we were speaking - and this you cannot get from everywhere! Furthermore, the food was something else! We had the fresh fish grill which cost 115k (just over £6) which was so good! The fish had been caught in the morning and was cooked perfectly! This place is amazing it is a must!

😠 The owners have a lot of dogs and cats living at the resort/restaurant area and they keep them all in very very small cages. The cat had to sit in a bird cage all night meowing for help and probably beding water and food. The 3 dogs had to sit in a small cage all 3 together. Very horrible how the an...
