Such a beautiful and eventful place. It is a Piazza (square) and cathedral well worth a visit. If you are planning to visit the cathedral and go inside do buy your tickets online for best price. Amazing cathedral and roof worth a visit but underground not worth. You will find many day time pictures I thought of to share how it looks at night time. Still many people even at late night.

Lovely area, especially in the nighttime when they light up the area. There’s lots to do and see in and around here. Definitely worth checking out. Great museums, cafes, restaurants and churches.

The main city square of Milan. It is the hearth of Milan in every aspect: geographically, artistically, culturally, socially, spiritually. Whenever you visit this place it’s always buzzing with people, the lights from all around, the music from the street performers, the laughs and chats you hear close by and in the distance. You are consumed by all the majestic buildings around and it’s hard to keep your eyes steady on just one. You just want to take it all in.

Obviously a lot of history with this place with the cathedral, archaeological site and museum. It’s awe inspiring no doubt, but the rectification works that were taking place in Oct 2023 took some of the shine away from this place. You could hear drilling works while in the cathedral. Overall, good historical place to visit. Clearer signs showing the direction to the museum and stairs would make it a lot easier for tourists visiting.

We strolled through on a Saturday afternoon [very busy!] And also late the same night. Definitely worth a visit to see the grand cathedral architecture and surroundings. Recommended, more so at quieter times. Metro access is via very close station.

It’s such an incredible place. I’d be sure to arrive early before sunrise to see it as it comes over the church. And while you are there, you can get spectacular photos without a lot of people in them. Also consider hiring a photographer to take pics of you. I hired one through Airbnb Experiences. And then I did the rooftop tour. I actually spent a few days there. It’s an incredible site to see and so much to take in.

Cathedral Square Piazza del Duomo is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and iconic landmarks in Italy. This stunning square is located in the heart of Milan and is home to the majestic Milan Cathedral, which is a sight to behold. I had the pleasure of visiting this square recently and was completely mesmerized by its grandeur. The square is surrounded by impressive historical buildings. The architecture of buildings is truly magnificent and is a testament to the rich history and culture of Milan. The Milan Cathedral is the centerpiece of the square and is an absolute marvel of architecture. The intricate details and stunning design of the cathedral are breathtaking, and it is no surprise that it took over 500 years to complete. It is also one of the largest churches in the world, and its size and grandeur are truly awe-inspiring. The square is also home to several other notable landmarks, including the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, which is one of the world's oldest shopping malls. Overall, Cathedral Square Piazza del Duomo is a truly spectacular place to visit. The combination of stunning architecture, rich history, and cultural significance make it a must-see destination for anyone traveling to Milan. Whether you are a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or simply looking for a beautiful place to visit, Cathedral Square Piazza del Duomo is sure to impress.

The Piazza Duomo in Milan is very beautiful. There are many tourists if you come here when the Duomo is open. If you want a picture without people, come early in the morning. This is a must visit if this is your first time in Milan. People like to feed the "flying rats" here.

The square, great. Very busy on a weekend. There is a place called Amorino just next to the Cathedral. They make the ice cream in a rose shape. Looks good but the taste not great. The waiting time not worth it. At least 30 minutes if you are lucky. If you want to visit the Cathedral, make to buy tickets in advance. Can't buy it on the day, it will show as sold out. Also, the are guides there that will approach you to get tickets then to enter in 40 minutes for the price of 40€ per person. Funny how online the tickets are not available but with the guides, is possible. Make sure to come in the morning as is madness around lunch time onwards. But if you are a fan of that, is worth it.

This is a must see Piazza with great focus on both beauty and function. The central statue faces the Duomo as if in respect for what it protects. Behind it a pink 6 story building with it entrance standing proud of it's main facade and an arch also in line with the Duomo Cathedral. To me as an architect I find the stature of this cathedral very commanding, as was intended to display Milanese religious and economic prowess. This can be seen in the extensive relief of many planes divided by spires and further subdivided by arched smaller stained glass windows with varying ordered pediments starting with the curved representing the "pan" or many people then moving to triangular and then to a combination of both. Each form evokes an ascension in stature of importance moving from the common profane man to the ultimate divine diety seen as a combination of the curve and the point. Notice also that the simplicity of the arches becomes more embellished as you go up. The principle focus of these great pieces of architecture is to emote the feeling of worship, achieved by the comparison of small man, large space pulling you upward and setting you into reverence. It's the juxtaposition of mortality versus permanence. The Cathedral as a genre of design does just that. Notice also that compared to many other cathedrals this one is relatively bilaterally symmetrical. The rareity in this is that the control and design of many cathedrals being managed by a single unified design vision, depends on time and the tendering or awarding of it's design. For a cathedral with this length and very recent completion, the design is very cohesive. Many others are asymmetrical. Whether that is due to incongruence in the control of the design, remains to be seen, but this one stands as a stalwart force in a proud Milanese history. I am of Genovese Italian heritage, so this is a complement across inter Italian culture, but also from an architectural point of view. Also note the galleria to the left is as prominent but still respectful of it's religious primary host. It represents the economic importance of secularist styles but also competing with the religious influences in architecture. The square approached from many angles show great vistas of what's to come ahead as you approach. Stand at each corner of the cathedral and be still, you will hear the sculptors of the past singing to you in their marble scores of light and shadow, short and long notes of solid and void and a great visual symphony. This is a definite masterpiece to see.

Beautiful church that should be seen both during the daylight and also at night. I bought the rooftop only tickets. The rooftop is much smaller than I had thought. But it is very nice to be up there to see the architecture of the church exterior from close up. There are many areas that are under restoration/construction. There is no elevator down so be prepared to walk down. One nice surprise was the the stairs going down exited directly into the church so that you can get a glimpse inside without purchasing a full ticket to see inside.

Without a doubt the most beautiful square in Milan and obviously the most overcrowded! There are literally people everywhere, both during the day and in the evening, so it's inevitable that it will be difficult to take pictures here, but not impossible. One thing I want to point out is to be careful of SCAMS! In fact, there will be people who will ask you if you want to have your picture taken for €3! Don't do it of course. They will charge you the price of at least 10 photos! Another is to be careful of people who invite you to play games with pigeons. Their real purpose is to rob you! It seems trivial, but there are many people who fall for it...

MILAN Piazza Duomo (Cathedral square) is the heart of Milan, and it is dominated by the majestic cathedral of the archdiocese which is the symbol of the capital of Lombardy as well the symbol of Italy: Milan Cathedral. The cathedral facade is the representation of a very long story and looks at the square rectangular in shape that covers an area of 17,000 square feet. There are many stories to be told.

The whole square captivates you.. The Cathedral itself is enormous and amazing in every detail. Sometimes you have just got to stop and look around to take it all in! The Cathedral 's rooftop is a must in order to have a full experience of the place and the city. If you go about 6 am you will avoid people and get some amazing quiet shots!

Such a special beautiful place to visit. You can spend a while day walking around here and admiring the beauty of the buildings, the architectures and the care for all these details. Absolutely majestic! We visited on a Sunday as a group of friends but it was not busy! Probably because it's cold but it was a nice, rain free day that made our trip even more memorable!

One of the main reasons why I visited Milan. It took 500 years to make the cathedral located here so for anyone visiting Milan, even for a day trip, do your best to appreciate the fine work put into its construction. This area has many food places and clothes stores. I would highly recommend especially at night.

This is not free, the basic value is €8 which also includes a museum. If you want to explore the above or below, that's extra. Also, they charge €8 for a portable audio guide, or you can stand for €2. No bathrooms inside. You might have to pay extra for that.

Cathedral Square is an amazing place that captures the essence of Milan's rich history and architectural art, highly recommend to visit it. Be aware that it could be very crowded especially in the summer and on weekends. If you want to make beautiful pictures came early in the morning or on sunset. Be careful there are a lot of pickpockets too. I really love the view of the Milan Cathedral- Duomo di Milano, just magnificent and a true masterpiece of architecture. The square itself offers lots of cafes, restaurants, and shops surrounding the square, making it an ideal spot to sit drink your coffee or cocktail and relax. Also very nice rooftop bars here, I highly recommend. Don't forget to explore the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a stunning shopping gallery with luxury shops and cafes. Cathedral Square in Milan is a must-visit destination for everyone

Wide open space, plenty of shops to visit and street musicians. Plenty of action even in the cold weather. I'm not one for wild pigeons, so I didn't like how people feed them so they hang around. Pity they don't know about the lice they carry.

Cathedral Square, also known as Piazza del Duomo, is an extraordinary place that captures the essence of Milan's rich history and architectural grandeur. I recently had the opportunity to visit Cathedral Square, and I must say it left me in awe. Here's why I highly recommend this iconic landmark: The first thing that strikes you when you arrive at Cathedral Square is the breathtaking beauty of the Milan Cathedral, also known as the Duomo di Milano. This magnificent Gothic cathedral is a true masterpiece of architecture. The intricate details of the facade, the soaring spires, and the abundance of sculptures and statues are simply awe-inspiring. It's a sight that will leave you speechless and wanting to explore every inch of this remarkable structure. The square itself is a vibrant hub of activity. It offers a lively atmosphere with a perfect blend of locals and tourists bustling around. There are numerous cafes, restaurants, and shops surrounding the square, making it an ideal spot to sit back, relax, and soak in the vibrant energy of Milan. The outdoor seating areas allow you to enjoy a cup of espresso or indulge in some delicious Italian cuisine while admiring the architectural marvels that surround you. One of the highlights of Cathedral Square is the opportunity to climb to the rooftop of the Milan Cathedral. The panoramic views from the top are simply breathtaking. You can witness the sprawling cityscape of Milan, with its mix of modern skyscrapers and historic buildings, spreading out before you. The intricate details of the cathedral's architecture become even more apparent, and you gain a newfound appreciation for the craftsmanship and dedication that went into its construction. Furthermore, Cathedral Square serves as a gateway to other notable attractions in Milan. From here, you can easily explore the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a stunning shopping gallery that houses luxury boutiques and elegant cafes. Additionally, the square is conveniently located near the fashion district and other cultural landmarks, allowing you to immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this cosmopolitan city. In conclusion, Cathedral Square in Milan is a must-visit destination that will captivate your senses and leave a lasting impression. The awe-inspiring Milan Cathedral, the lively atmosphere, and the opportunity to explore the surrounding attractions make it a truly remarkable place. Whether you're a history enthusiast, an architecture lover, or simply seeking to experience the vibrant spirit of Milan, Cathedral Square is the perfect destination that will exceed your expectations.

Piazza del Duomo ("Cathedral Square") is the main piazza (city square) of Milan, Italy. It is named after, and dominated by, the Milan Cathedral (the Duomo). The piazza marks the center of the city, both in a geographic sense and because of its importance from an artistic, cultural, and social point of view. Rectangular in shape, with an overall area of 17,000 sq.m. (about 183,000 sq ft), the piazza includes some of the most important buildings of Milan (and Italy in general), as well some of the most prestigious commercial activities, and it is by far the foremost tourist attraction of the city. I was simply speechless when I saw this magnificent building for the first time when I was heading towards the piazza from Vitorio Emmanuelle II gallery. It's a must when you visit Milan. If you have the chance to come across the square at different moments in a day, you'll witness and marvel at how light is reflected in the main entrance. Amazing! It's worth going up the stairs to the terrace.

Guilia was our tour guide today and she is amazing. She was very enthusiastic about the Cathedral and pointed out and explained things you would never have known without a tour guide. She was very sweet. Highly recommended. It was a very emotional experience for me. So grateful for the guide and the whole experience.

Always full with lots of tourists and pigeons!!! hahaha Beautiful place, we breathe art and history all the time. Was originally created in the 14th century and has been gradually developing... Next door is the famous Galleria Vitorio Emanuelle for those who want to enjoy good food, coffee or gelato, and also recover by going to the bathroom. The piazza marks the center of the city, both in a geographic sense and because of its importance from an artistic, cultural, and social point of view.

Cathedral Square, known as Piazza del Duomo, encapsulates Milan's rich historical and architectural heritage, prominently featuring the iconic Duomo di Milano. It serves as a hub of cultural significance, offering an array of cafes, restaurants, and shops, making it an ideal locale to engage with Milanese culture. However, due to substantial foot traffic, particularly during summer and weekends, visitors are advised to plan their visit during quieter times such as early mornings or sunset, while remaining vigilant against pickpocketing activities. Additionally, the adjacent Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, renowned for its opulent shops and cafes, presents an exquisite architectural marvel deserving exploration. Overall, Cathedral Square stands as an indispensable destination, seamlessly blending history, artistry, and contemporary allure.

One of Italy's most beautiful piazzas, it recently got a restyling. No cars are obviously allowed in except for the fast side, opposite the majestic thousand year old Duomo (taxis). In the far side they recently added beautiful exotic banana trees which brought it back to 19th century luster (although there were the usual moans..). It hosts 2 lines of subway, the n.1 red line and the n.3 yellow. To the left of the Duomo there is the entrance to the gorgeous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, a super high level mall.

Would recomend to go here early in the morning. And if you are planning to go on the roof top then take the stairs (North side). Unless you are clostrofobic then take the lift (South side). In the morning the lines are quite small but during midday you could wait up to an hour to get inside. Lines do build up fast. The place it self is magnificent inside and out. Would suggest to book tickets in advance.

The most beautiful and important place in Milano. A lot of tourists during the day but in the night you can enjoy the view of Duomo not too crowded. To go inside the cathedral of Duomo cost 10-15 € depends if you want to go up with lift elevator or by walking . It is worth it.

Street artists, the unique and unusual architecture of the cathedral and the crowd take people to another world. A well-thought-out square befitting such a city. People are happy, shopping is everywhere and nice cafes. I don't know what else to say for the heart of the city, I loved it!!
