This place is amazing, but it also depends on what you're looking for. It's a very quick taxi to the old town, but can sometimes take a while for one to arrive. It was abnormally warm on our visit in Madeira and the AC had trouble keeping up. The service was wonderful though and the grounds are beautiful. We are in our thirties and the vibe of the place felt a bit older than us, but overall our stay was wonderful

Fantastic hotel with the most beautiful gardens. We had a garden room which was very nice, with an enjoyable outdoor seating area. The quality of the food and drink is very high - the breakfast in particular is amongst the best we have ever had. There is a well-equipped gym adjoined to the spa. We booked the full women and man’s massage experiences with Gisella, which were absolutely wonderful. The pool areas are beautiful and private, with attentive service when needed, otherwise you feel like you have the hotel to yourself. Very peaceful. Outside of the beauty and quality of the hotel, the service sets it apart. Every member of staff is friendly and cannot do enough to ensure guests have a great stay. We appreciate all of their efforts over the past week - they made our stay here in Madeira very memorable.

Excellent hotel set in lovely grounds. Staff are all really helpful both in the restaurant, bar and reception. Food in the manor house is high quality and well presented. The chef went out of his way to satisfy our gluten free requirement. Probably my only criticism is that the garden rooms are getting a little 'tired' and in need of updating. I would definitely return to this hotel.

We've just enjoyed a one-week stay in this beautiful hotel. The gardens are spectacular, and the accommodation is lovely. All the staff are friendly and helpful, but we want to personally thank Buana and Sofie and all the ladies who keep the hotel clean and inviting. The hotel is ideally situated for visits to Funchal town and nearby bars and restaurants; however, the hotel restaurants offer a great choice of food. During our stay, we made use of the well-equipped gym and library. This was our first trip to Madeira, and we will definitely be returning.

We visited this place with a toddler. Quiet and calm place about 15min walk (5min by car) from the city centre. Service is excellent, everyone is really friendly and helpful. The garden is really beautiful. Not many kid friendly facilities, but we didn't mind it. There is a playground around the corner. Our room was not very big especially with the guest bed open for the kid, but we spent most of our time outside. The restaurants within the property were excellent. The place is not really for families, but they made sure our daughter enjoyed her time as well. So overall we are pleased

There is not much more I can add to reviews previously posted but I will try and convey what is the most important aspect of this hotel. The staff. The hotel is stunning set in glorious gardens that were laid out years ago but staff that maintain these gardens are the key. They work each and every day keeping the whole garden immaculate. The grass is a testament to their skill. The hotel has been designed to blend into these gardens perfectly. The room we had (ok it was the deluxe suite) was huge and clean and perfect in every way but it was the staff that kept the room this way. From the girls who made the room up in the morning to the girls who came in the evening to turn down the room and just check everything was ok. The breakfasts are unbelievably good the cheese omelette was divine. The coffee is possibly the best I have ever had in a hotel anywhere in the world and I have stayed in a few great hotels. But once again it’s the staff that make the experience so special. If your language is English, French or German the vast majority of the staff speak all of them fluently. Their attention to detail and their customer service skills are a joy to watch but more importantly be on the receiving end of. The food is amazing, the braised octopus and the tuna deserve a special mention but it is the hot chocolate pudding with lavender ice cream that steals the show. The chef is a genius! I do not eat chocolate puddings as a rule, I don’t like them abut at this hotel I had the pudding not only for dinner but for lunch the following day it is THAT good!!!! So in summary a special hotel in a special setting with staff members who are at the very top of their game. Thank you to each and everyone of them.

I had high hopes and expectations of my stay at Quinta da casa branca but unfortunately they fell short. The insanely gorgeous gardens are definitely the main pull here - the variety of plants, trees and vegetation is simply stunning and cannot be faulted. However I found the staff didn’t deliver a personalised, warm or inviting energy for me (except a handful of absolute gems who I made sure management knew about). I found the majority of staff cold and distant. The food is very nice and of an exceptional standard (on the pricey side though). I stayed in a superior room and standard room. The rooms are comfortable but could do with more modern touches (especially the bathrooms). For a luxury hotel of this stature, two double beds pushed together should not be offered as a double. Overall, I had hoped for a truly wonderful few days at QDCB, the gardens were beautiful to be around, but the hotel lacked the heart and soul I that elevates a stay.

Beautiful large rooms that open onto garden patio. All facilities inside, outside and restaurants fabulous. Breakfast a la carte and buffet to a five star standard.

This is our 4th stay at this hotel. We love everything about it. Set in beautiful gardens with trees from around the world; I live in an arboretum so have a passion for trees. It is good to see the labelling of the rare specimens. Two swimming pools, great food and fantastically friendly staff. It's a bit of a walk up from town but that's part of it's charm.

This has to be one of the best establishments in Funchal. The staff is fantastic without exception, the hotel is a quiet, green oasis in a busy city and we enjoyed great food in all restaurants the hotel offers. Ideal if you want to unplug from a busy life and enjoy peace.

Lovely hotel set in a lush floral setting. Peaceful & quiet with friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was good but hot menu could be extended as it was mostly based on how you want your eggs. Rooms were perfect with great air con 😍. We ate out every night as there are plenty of good restaurants. Hotels only down side was the hill climb but no issu if you jump in a taxi I suppose 😄.

Arrived yesterday and bowled over with this place - an oasis in the middle of the city of Funchal with beautiful rooms that open out into wonderful gardens - it feels calm, unhurried, personal service and the food last night for our first dinner was sublime - staff are really amazing and a shout out to Humberto whose wine knowledge and recommendations are on point

This is a beautiful property, immaculately taken care of and cared for by some of the most gracious staff you'll find anywhere. I almost hate to say how great this place is because I'm worried I won't be able to get a room again in the future. If you go to Madera, please don't go when I'm going but don't miss this place!

A peaceful haven in a busy city. The bird song in the beautiful gardens was a joy. We loved our garden room, especially the terrace. The most comfortable bed I've slept in. Meals each evening in the Manor House were a discovery of delight. The most relaxing 5 day break ever. A walk into the Old Town is an easy 25 minute downhill stroll. A taxi back up is only €6.50. There are no negative about this hotel. We cannot wait to return.

EXCELLENT HOTEL, set in 15 acres of botanical gardens, the rooms are spotless and well equipped, the breakfast buffet is excellent with a very good choice, my wife is gluten intolerant but the staff always provided alternatives from the kitchen, they will even put together a picnic if you require one. The staff are very polite even the Gardners say hello, we would highly recommend this hotel and will defiantly return.

Quinta da Casa Branca is a world-class boutique hotel. We were especially enchanted with the wonderful restaurants, lush gardens, mix of modern and classical architecture, but most of all, the phenomenal service. A special thank you to Nuno at reception and Andre at the restaurants, who took great care of us.

This is truly a beautiful hotel. Set in lovely gardens and within walking distance of most of Funchal. Very tranquil and peaceful. Excellent and friendly service throughout the property. Delicious breakfast included in room rate. Reception staff very professional and attentive. Definitely will come back.

Lovely hotel. Tranquil refuge from hustle and bustle of Funchal set in beautiful and peaceful gardens. Near Reids, so a bit of a stroll up the hill from the centre. However the advantages outweigh the downside of the slightly longer walk. Always stay here.

Wonderful, superb and great. This hotel (and, especially, the garden) is an oasis of beauty but, much more than that, is packed to the gills with staff who are clearly invested in making sure guests have the best possible experience. Thank you to all of them for a fabulous stay.

I cannot fault anything about this Hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff are friendly and approachable. Breakfast is excellent and use of the facilities (sauna, jacuzzi etc) is included in the room rate. The hotel is well situated for access to Funchal and local restaurants too.

An oasis and place of tranquility. There is honestly nothing to not like in this hotel. From the outstanding breakfast, which is currently served Ă  la carte (hopefully they keep it that way even after COVID) on a beautiful terrace to the flawless and always friendly service, this place screams quality and style. The surrounding gardens are breathtaking. There is a lot of space so that everybody can find a place to relax and unwind. There are two pools (the smaller one adult-only) and even a gym and spa with sauna and jacuzzi (unfortunately closed right now). The rooms are comfortable and nicely furnished. We had a garden room which we would prefer to the more expensive ones in the new wing as you have direct access and view to the gardens. The only thing we did not try (yet) is the restaurant, but the setting is beautiful and a 4 course dinner is 82 Euro with wine pairing, which also seems reasonable. What impressed us most was that when we arrived late in the evening due to issues with our plane, they had prepared some delicious cold cuts for us in the room because the restaurants were already closed. If you plan to visit Madeira we highly recommend this place!

A truly pearl in Funchal. When you enter the facility an instant calm comes over you. A wonderful garden even off season. Serenity, service minded staff. Fantastiskt fresh food.

Simply amazing hotel!! It's an oasis in the middle of Funchal that for me is off the scale. Incredible welcoming from the extremely friendly people at the reception, beyond anything I have ever experienced and it's been 10 out of 10 from everybody else from the bar to the restaurant. This is one place I recommend everybody should visit, love it and worth more than 5 stars!

A true gem. My wife and I have stayed at numerous high end hotels and the team here is truly exceptional! Funny, sweet, and beyond accommodating. The restaurants are top tier and the location strikes the perfect balance between privacy and proximity to popular locations. You will no regret staying here!

Now we leave this wonderful hotel. Although there are a lot of hotels in Funchal, I promised to stay here again. Yes, it deserves the 5 stars. The location, the gardens, all the staff, everything is superlative. Thank you, Lumi and George

An Oasis in Funchal. So different from the normal tourist hotels. Set in its own botanical garden, two pools and rooms with their own outside spaces. Friendly efficient staff amazing breakfasts, lunches and bar. The restaurant is poor, like faulty towers, but there are many places for dinner nearby and Taxis are cheap if you need to go further afield. This is definitely a place that will help you chill, you couldn't wish for a better place.
