The hospital It's self is beautiful and clean while my mother was in treatment undergoing chemo she was always well assisted. But my father went into emergency today at around 11:30pm with extreme pain as my mother waited for hours to hear or know of anything on his condition and she was told it was to late to call in or ask doctors. She was left without a clue if he was well or not. This is not professional on their part. It's sad that we have to wait hours to know if my father was in serious condition or not.

Was in and out quickly, and I’m very surprised! I’m from California, and I feel spoiled by the healthcare system on Terceira. Unfortunately; I came back to America!

Awful Customer Service. Doctors are rude and ignorant. Avoid this place if other options are available.

(Translated by Google) My 94-year-old father went to the emergency department of Angra do Heroismo hospital with a high fever he was diagnosed with pneumonia but as he had no room and bed available they left him in a wheelchair from 2 pm to 5 am . It is inhumane and unacceptable what they did to him given his advanced age. Now on the 17th of January, he went back to the emergency room where he was first told it was a urinary tract infection, later they said it was not a lung infection. They sent him home with a prescription for antibiotics. When he arrived home in the fire ambulance he was almost naked. With a smock tied around her neck, no diaper sleeves and no socks, shivering with cold. The pajamas and socks and robe came in a plastic bag. I complained to the doctor herself and she said after releasing the patient that the responsibility belongs to the health assistants who had no compassion or humanity to cover him with a blanket that I know well that ambulances have. I bet if they were relatives of these helpers the treatment would be VIP. Catching that cold on the street caused him to die the next day. These health assistants (whose name is not even worth mentioning) and even the firefighters do not have an iota of dignity for the elderly were very inhumane. My father came cold, thirsty and hungry. I bet they didn't even give him food from one day to the next he was there. And this elderly gentleman did not do well, nor was a family member present to explain the situation. I warn all the elderly to avoid going to the hospital in Angra, the treatment they have is inhumane.

My father was on a flight home and unfortunately started experiencing chest pain. The flight was redirected to Terceira to Hospital de Espírito Santo and I can't say enough amazing things about this hospital and staff. My parents are seniors and stranded somewhere foreign is scary and I can't say enough about the incredible attention they have given my father and providing me information on my dad's status and assisting my mother. They have been a God send, especially nurse Lucía Vieira who has assisted my parents above and beyond her expectations. I am truly grateful and owe these people so much. Thank you for caring above and going above and beyond your job duties ❤️

I had an accident while travelling and I’m really thankful for helpful, supportive and professional hospital staff. I was looked after with extreme care. From the front door where I was helped with a wheelchair with no asking to the surgery ward where I got a treatment from wonderful team of doctors and nurses. Grateful from the bottom of my heart 🙏

I was there last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were attentive. The nurses were impeccable, empathetic and caring. The doctor was nice but very brief. Understandably with all the patients. My only advice not criticism is to inform the patient more about the treatment that they are going to be performing next. Names of iv antibiotics. Not be so vague. Overall thank you for your unbelievable treatment.

All the nurses are literally eating in the room next to you while you r sit on a bed waiting to be seen. And only one doctor for the whole gyno department. Free health care hun? What a joke!

This hospital’s policy on Covid is outdated and discriminatory. It’s rules are not equal for male and female visitors (fathers to newly born children are not seen as important visitors and building an emotional connection seems irrelevant in their policy making). A complaint was taken into consideration (on the different visitation rules between male and female visitors) but no changes to policy has been made - eventhough as of writing this review the policies elsewhere in the country are changing. Many of the hospital’s kind staff makes up for it’s flawed policies on Covid, therefore this review has been given 2-stars and not 1.
