Our reservations were for 5:30pm on Friday. I know they open at 5 and the restaurant was already packed when we arrived. Fig &Ash had a very interesting vibe. There is a certain uniqueness to it that you have to discover for yourself. Every single employee we interacted with was friendly and accommodating, from the wait staff to the bartender to any given employee walking by, everyone was warm, friendly and happy to have you. The important part, the food. The food was exceptional and the portions were quite substantial. I also enjoyed my hard cider and dessert. My cousin loved the rice pudding. I’m guessing their menu changes slightly with the seasons so they may offer something different in the spring or summer. I was actually amazed by the amount of development on East Ohio Street. That specific street has come a long way in a relatively short period of time. Amazing.

May 2022: This is such a great hole in the wall. The ambiance is so unique, almost like an apothecary. The service is amazing and the staff clearly love their jobs and take them very seriously. When one of the waiters delivered our appetizer, he even said “this looks really good!” 😂 The food and drinks are amazing. They have a relatively small menu, but everything is crafted to perfection! And, I truly mean crafted—for taste and the experience (for example: smoking drinks & seeping lavender in your tea mixed drink for a second flavor profile). That being said, the prices are very reasonable. I felt like I was pampered here, yet we only spent ~$150 with tip for 2 (4 drinks, 1 app, 2 entrees). I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be bringing friends & family here again! Edit March 2023: Some dishes & the drinks weren’t as finished as last time, but all were still tasty. Plus the service is unbeatable. Best dish of the night was the burratta.

Delivered on the hype! We tried this place for an impromptu date night and didn’t have any reservations, but luckily found seating on the bar. The cocktails are amazing and the food is delicious. This restaurant, unlike others we’ve been to, lived up to the hype. We ordered 3 things - fried shrimp for appetizer and it was amazing (this is coming from a person who’s not really into sea food). For the main course, we ordered moroccan lamb with couscous and my girlfriend ordered swordfish. They both were brilliantly made. I don’t remember the name of the cocktail but it was beet root red in color with thyme twig. For dessert, we went for the beloved ice cream and brownie, which was freshly made in a skillet. Loved the overall experience! A must try if you haven’t already. P.S. we usually try to go to a new restaurant every time but we’ll give Fig&Ash a second visit soon!

Overall, a very high quality dining experience. Everything we ordered was delicious and above our expectations. One small thing is that the dining space felt a bit compact, and was not exactly quiet due to how busy the restaurant was. We had a hard time hearing each other from across the table. However, aside from that, we had an excellent time, and our server was extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely want to visit again!

I would highly recommend, it's a small menu that changes every so often. I think that allows the chef to have the time to put the quality into these dishes. Everything I had was delicious, satisfied with every bite. The drinks as well. Be sure to make reservations even if it's a random weekday. It's a small space, so it can fill up quickly.

This restaurant was AMAZING! Came to Pittsburgh for a game with no idea where to eat for dinner, and we are so happy we ended up here. The cocktails have very funny/cute names and the food…….WOW. We got 2 small plates for apps and large plates for our main course. They portions were HUGE, and so delicious. The staff was great, alexi and Corey being the stars of the night. If you have been considering coming to this place, you should go. I’m currently still full from dinner last night!!

Had a lovely date night here. We got the wild boar chili, heirloom carrots, pumpkin risotto, and dessert got our to go. Normally I am a pretty picky person and I decided to go outside my comfort zone to try this place. My favorite part was the chili as it had a little bit of a kick but wasn't super over powering and the cornbread that comes with it compliments it well. I definitely want to go back and I plan on taking a few friends with me.

Had a wonderful dinner for at Fig & Ash the other night . The pork belly small plate and meatloaf entree were particularly exceptional. Can see why they stay busy. Now for the regular programmed food coma to commence.

Shortly: cool spot, friendly, chatty stuff, great wine suggestions. Out of four things we tried only one was disappointing- but so much it costs a star. We started with the mussles - great, slightly spicy taste. Then we moved to the meatloaf, which was surprisingly amazing, mix of the meats works great! But the short ribs... were dry and overall very weak. As a short ribs lover I tried them many times, including cooking at home, and this was far, far, far worse than the weakest attempt. We finished with flourless chocolate cake which ended the dinner on a high note. Usually flourless cakes are a bit too dense for me, but this was like a perfect brownie, not too heavy, but very flavorful. In summary, overall impression was very good, with one surprising disappointment.

This has been an overdue review! Fig & Ash Restaurant is an absolute gem that should not missed if visiting Pittsburgh! From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for an unforgettable culinary journey. Whatever you order will be a fantastic treat. The menu boasts an array of dishes that celebrate locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, and even house milled grains. Did I mention they have a wood fire! The attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of each dish is truly remarkable. The service here is top-notch, the waitstaff is friendly, accommodating, and always ready to offer recommendations or answer any questions you may have. Fig & Ash should be at the top of your list for any occasion. I would recommend reservations as they are usually booked. They do have limited seating in front of the open kitchen, which is fun if you're lucky enough to snag those seats!

Friendly staff, yummy food, gluten free options. We enjoyed the corn fritters, swordfish, pork chop, a pasta dish and the brownie.

Perfect dining experience! Fig and Ash has been on our list to try for a long time. Finally got to go and they hit all the notes. The roasted Brussels sprouts and our entrees were amazing. We sat on the outdoor patio in December and it was warm and cozy. The service was excellent.

We made reservations for Fig & Ash the day after thanksgiving and it did not disappoint. Service was wonderful and the food was outstanding. We had the braised short rib, the short rib and pork belly meatloaf, the heirloom carrots, a few drinks, and the pickled blueberry and lemon pound cake. It was all outstanding. Looking forward to returning when the menu changes again for the next season. If you are in Pittsburgh, as a resident or just visiting, Fig & Ash is worth it!

Went to fig & ash without reservations the other week and was lucky enough to snag a bar seat during prime time. The food was absolutely delicious and the bartender Noah was incredibly friendly and helpful. The menu changes seasonally depending on the availability from their local partners. The pasta was perfectly cooked, meat tender and the salad was incredible. Would highly recommend giving this place a try.
