When I signed up I specifically asked the question about cancellation and if there were any fees, the person who signed me up assured me that I can cancel at anytime with zero fees. After one month of my membership I decided to cancel due to my busy schedule, I knew I won’t be able to make it to the gym. They would not let you cancel over the phone, I tried many times, they ask that you come in to cancel, so if you’re traveling or sick they still want you to drive to their physical location to cancel. I finally gave up and went just to learn that cancellation means you pay for an ANNUAL fee PLUS 90 days of membership fees!!! An annual fee for something I’m canceling after one month!!! I never seen anything this corrupt. The general manager there Hunter and his assistant Megan looked me in the eye and said I will only be able to cancel if I pay the annual fee plus 90days membership fee! Very bad customer service, and unprofessional staff. This gym is designed to sign people up then smack them with a bunch of fees if they want to cancel. When you are signing up you don’t even know what you’re signing for, they have the screen blanked out and there is ZERO mention that you would pay an ANNUAL FEE to cancel the membership after ONE MONTH! If you are a traveler or busy and you know you might end up canceling please consider before you trap yourself, very shady sign up practices with undisclosed fees! I hope this review will benefit and protect some people 🙏🏼

Absolutely ridiculous that once a week, they cannot open on time. It is currently 5:13 on Friday morning. I want to cancel my membership. This happens too frequently with no apologies or explanation. I cannot believe I pay $25 a month for this. Customer service and the front desk is terrible.

I have been at this gym since it opened. I use one specific equipment to do my cardio. I have complained about this equipment so many times I can't count. Only 1 of 4 can you ever adjust the resistance. The others immediately show "Error 82". I am not sure if the owners are two cheap to actually fix the equipment or the tech who tries just doesn't have the skill to diagnosis the problem. Either way not good to have broken equipment.

Gym music is way too loud most of the times. I am one who likes to hear the banging of weights and the ambience of the gym. I get people like to work out with music but there are those who rather do their working out with little to no music/noise. A suggestion I have is have specific hours of lower or little volume of music. Another complaint I have is there are many pieces of equipment that are always occupied and other equipment that are never occupied. I would suggest adding more adjustable flat benches and removing the two benches that sit up right only (with the small back). The adjustable benches do the same thing but are more versatile with workouts. There is not much room for stretching as well during peak hours because there's trainings scheduled, or the HIIT zone is going on on top of a yoga class. I think there needs to be an independent stretch room for when classes are going on. For my positive piece of this review... Staff is knowledgeable, all equipment is available for an extensive amount of workouts. Overall, this location grew too fast and needs to expand and have more room or build another location near Palm Harbor or Dunedin to prevent overcrowding.

The absolute worst gym in the Tampa area. I’ve lived all across the country (from East to West coast) and been a member of nearly all the big box gyms and this one takes the cake of being the worst. Besides for the extremely unethical business practices & rude staff that dozens of other reviews have mentioned, the gym is way beyond capacity. Be prepared to wait for literally any and every piece of equipment (minus some of the cardio equipment) regardless of the time of day. I’ve truly never seen a gym as packed as this one. Shame on Crunch for not enlisting membership limits once they reach a certain number of members. To make matters worse, this gym is filled to the brim with the worst kind of wannabe Social media influencers. May as well just rename this the Countryside High (or whatever community college is near here) fitness center. I like many others, verified upon signing up that there would be no cancellation fees. I was told repeatedly that so long as I was outside of a specific sign-up period, there would not be any fees. I wound up requesting a cancellation over 8 months into my membership and low & behold, I had to pay nearly $200 to cancel. Bottom line: don’t get distracted by the “good deal”. This gym will cost you much more than the $9.99/month they advertise. You will lose your peace of mind as well as a ton more money than $10/month due to the unethical fees they tack on. This place is not worth the headaches.

Place is crowded at all times. Members have no etiquette. Always teen man-children flexing in the mirror and taking photos of themselves every time I’m in the locker room. They don’t have basic things like nonskid mats in the shower area. Sauna smells like it hasn’t been cleaned in ages. Have to walk the entire gym a few laps to find bar clips or handles for the cable machines. For as much money (members) as this place must have, they need to reinvest in upkeep. Will be canceling shortly…

Equipment constantly in need of repairs. Takes months to fix machines. Whats up with that.

Crunch fitness I am very disappointed with this gym. I have been a member for 5 yrs and I regret every penny I spent. The girls locker doors are always broken, leaving no privacy or security for my belongings. The machines are always broken too, and they take forever to fix. I have seen the same "out of order" signs for weeks on the stepper machines, at this time 4 out of 7 are broken! The manager has been made aware numerous times and at one point stated that 2 were fixed but they were not, how could you, being manager, not be aware? This gym is a waste of time and money. Do yourself a favor and find another gym.

This is really great gym. I have only good things to say about my experience here working out, and the customer service in regards to being a member. My only issue has been that trying to cancel has been a nightmare, a total waste of time and energy. I went in person in Sept 2021 to cancel, and the young man working at the desk seemed very helpful and informed me that I was all set but that I would get charged for an additional 2 months and still be able to use the facility. Fair enough. Fast forward to last week when I see a charge from Crunch on my card and went back in person to get it remedied. The person I spoke with at the desk informed me that since I didn't have an email that they were supposed to send me when I cancelled in September that there was nothing he could do but start the process over. See where this is going? It's my fault that they didn't properly cancel me, and I have no right to be mad and there is nothing at all they can do because again it is my fault. I hope this issue is done and I never have to think or deal with it again. Unfortunately reading the reviews I am not very confident at this point. If this treatment continues I will begin to actually care about something that I would normally let slide and we will be using UCC codes to handle it going forward. Crunch the ball is in your court, please do the right thing. Don't slowly bleed your members that actually appreciate your gym and would love to support you. I rarely check my bank statements so this type of thing could have gone on for years if I didn't do a random check last week.

*Edit to add the manager was awesome & so helpful. Really disappointed with the poor customer service of Molly at this location. Since we were unable to cancel our memberships online like you can with the other locations, I came in well in advance of my next billing date & they’re insisting on charging us for another month, although that is not the Crunch policy on their website. Unfortunately 2 years of paying 4 memberships doesn’t get an easy say cancellation. Take note in the event you want to try to cancel your membership.

As for the gym, it was great! However when it comes time to cancel because you move you would think it would be a easy process. However, for the past 45 days I get 3 phone calls a day and an email saying my payment as not gone through. I have mailed them a cancelation letter and they refuse to cancel my member ship. I let them know that I moved to another state and they still insist that I go to the location that I signed up for. This is the biggest joke, I would not recommend anyone signing up at Crunch.

I’ve deployed to third world countries with better bathrooms than this location. I’ve brought it up to staff. I’ve submitted surveys when they email me asking how my visit was. I left a review on Yelp, and even got a response. Nothing has changed. The urinals, smell, and condition of the men’s locker room is a hazmat issue at this point. Do yourself a favor and hit the head before heading here for a workout, because the bathrooms are truly disgusting. I can’t for the life of me figure out how no one that works here has taken notice. It’s been an ongoing issue for months.

I have had a great experience at this location. I am always welcomed in when I arrive, unlike some other locations where they seem to be on their phones or uninterested. Thomas is my trainer and I have been working with him for a couple of months now with great results! He has helped with all aspects of the exercise, diet plan, or just being there to listen when needed. They have recently added some new equipment that has been great to add into the workout plan. I would definitely recommend both this location and Thomas.

The crunch here has so much potential being the only crunch in the Clearwater area. I come here to workout whenever I’m in town and sometimes I am disappointed in the attention to detail at this location. I could chalk it up to the amount of people that go here and the size relative to it but it could use some work. The gym is small but they are working with what they got. Cleanliness could use some work. The positive about this gym is that the lighting is great with lots of natural light 12/04 Returned for a workout since I was in the area. I’ve seen some improvements in cleanliness. Idk what it is with the culture here tho because it seems that some members cannot seem to throw trash In the provided trash cans. There is only so much staff can do. There are a few minor things that could use some improvement. Floors near the free weight section is tearing up and unsightly. Overall an improvement from the last time I have visited

Do not recommend. The gym is overly crowded where you can’t use any machines. They scam you out of your money. They advertise a $9.99 membership that doesn’t exist. Then when you try to cancel you cannot cancel for 90 days. Then on top of that they charge you a $53 fee in your first 60 days. All the way around a terrible gym and terrible experience.

I decided to join again because of Tiffany (An amazing Zumba Instructor). I walked in and was greeted by Taylor, super nice guy. He signed me up for a penny, the rest of November for free, and I received a free shirt. I really appreciated that he wasn’t a salesperson, he was listening to my needs and not just selling me packages. Thank you Taylor! I can’t wait to workout with Tiffany and Kyle. Kyle is a phenomenal trainer. It’s really a great place with phenomenal staff!

Excellent Staff, Clean Equipment, Great Atmosphere. Literally my "happy place" Naturally there are busy hours but overall you can stay moving from machine to machine pretty fluidly, always plenty of free weights. I would consider Crunch one of the higher end gyms when it comes to total package. No childcare at this location but I just go when my son's at school 🤷‍♀️😉 Tanning beds and Hydro Massage Machines available 🤩 Sauna in the locker rooms too! 10/10 from me!

I thought I was gonna have trouble getting my Active&Fit Direct account connected because I’ve experienced that issue at other gyms I I’ve gone to, but Mike W at the front desk made it a breeze for me to get started at Crunch. Every time I step in he’s super helpful and it encourages me to keep coming back. The gym is always in great condition and a majority of the equipment is like brand new. Couldn’t be happier with my experience!

The atmosphere and staff are incredible. This place has a broad range of people (age, culture, and level of fitness). After my first month here, I have found the community very welcoming and positive. Please note! It can go from a Gym to a Club atmosphere depending on the time you attend. If you are looking for a place to boost your spirit, you found it.

Had a Wonderful experience at Crunch Fitness. Great gym and great people. What made a remark there for me was Daniela who is at the front desk her beautiful personality, professionalism, and warmth makes you feel so welcomed and appreciated. Thank you so much Daniela for all your help! Any company should be proud to have you represent them, because your beautiful presence radiates as soon as you walk in and you make people feel happy with your wonderful postive energy.

You have to pay to cancel. They didn't warn me about this. I signed up for a 1 cent membership and less than a month later I'm being charged $20. Then I go in to cancel and: it costs $90 to cancel. That's sick. I told them I'm homeless and I signed up because I thought the month was actually 1 cent.

My wife and I joined Crunch Countryside a year ago today and signed up with two trainers (Josh & Brooke). We couldn't be more pleased with our personal trainers and the entire staff, from Cole at the front desk to Will who keeps the gym spotless!!! We both feel so welcomed each and every time we walk in the front door. I recently retired, and they have given me a new family after leaving my work family of 51 years!!!

This is a very disappointing to find out that after not using the gym for almost 10 months and being charged each month. So finally I am back in States and went there to close my account, I was told that I have to pay the due amount and 30 days notice and pay for the notice time or the account will go to the collection, I asked if I can contact cooperate office and I was told that there is no cooperate office, so basically I have to pay more to close my account or they will hit my credit..... They need to be more clear on first day of opening an account. Let's see what happens next.....

I had a coupon to join for one cent, the first month free and then $10 per month. I was informed at the desk that the sign-up fee for the basic membership was $30. To me, that appeared to be "Bait & Switch". As a senior and a veteran - I'm too old and savvy to go for that sort of thing. Also, while standing by the desk I looked around and didn't like what I saw/smelled. The place was too crowded, was not well lit and didn't smell clean. I'll keep looking for a gym that stands behind their promotional offers.

  • 5/5 Christopher S. 1 year ago on Google
I went yesterday as an out of state traveler and I loved it! They had loins energizing music playing, the gym was busy but not crowded and the staff was friendly and hard working! This is a larger gym than my home gym, so it had more equipment than I’m used to and I loved the variety. It closed at 7pm which was earlier than I was expecting but I left saying “wow that was fun!”

I’ve been to dozens of yoga studios/classes and I have yet to come across an instructor as kind, unique, creative, informative and knowledgeable as Natalie S. The receptionist Meghan aka (Megalodon) gave me the best experience coming in to the gym today. She greeted me with a smile and I could tell she genuinely enjoys her job, unlike the feeling I got at past gyms. Will definitely be coming to this crunch at countryside more often, really clean gym as well!!!

Very friendly front staff and overall clean gym. The gym is usually busy but not bad enough where you can’t find free equipment. There are plenty of free weights and equipment for all your fitness needs. I signed up for training sessions two times a week with Luke and I’ve been very happy with my results. He is very attentive to my fitness goals and creates a program tailored towards them. He’s super knowledgeable and always answers my questions in a detailed and easy to follow manner.

I love this gym! But even better, I love my trainer, Ethan! I hadn’t been to the gym in a while and was kinda nervous about going back. Ethan made me comfortable right from the beginning. I hate working out. But He’s done a great job motivating me and making the workouts fun and affective. I can really tell a difference in how I move and my endurance. Ethan’s awesome and I’d recommend him to anyone!

  • 5/5 Amanda J. 1 year ago on Google
Crunch Countryside is awesome. However, my trainer is even more awesome!! Ethan is, by far, the best trainer. He is friendly, supportive, patient, encouraging, attentive, knowledgeable, genuine, and respectful. I recently joined Crunch (late March, thanks Kyle) and signed up for a kickoff with Ethan. My friend had met Ethan for a kickoff and had nothing but nice things to say. Despite the praise, I was still concerned being the first time ever to meet with a personal trainer. At the kick off, it was super easy to talk to Ethan about my goals and my commitment to my goals. My first impression was he is a down to earth guy. A month later and it’s still the same opinion. Ethan truly cares about his clients and wants each and every one of us to succeed. He listens to his clients and ensures their best interest is at the forefront of every workout. 10/10 recommend

I had never been to a gym before I inquired about a membership here, so naturally I was extremely anxious coming in for the first time. I immediately felt so welcomed by the staff. Cole gave me my tour and was very helpful and reassuring, the manager introduced himself to me so that I'd have another familiar face (I believe his name is either Jose or Jesus) which was very comforting, and my trainer Hannah is such a sweetheart! She's so friendly and easy to talk to, and she's helping me tackle my weaknesses in a very personalized way. Thank you all, my only regret is not joining sooner!

I am returning to the gym experience after decades of working out on my own. I am so happy I made the decision to join this gym. What struck me most when visiting for the first time was the commitment everyone seems to have - people are serious here. From the trainers to the members. It is not a cliquey experience. Just walking in you sense motivation and dedication and a desire to get to the next level. I made a decision to work with a professional trainer. Ethan is down to earth, relatable, kind, patient and extremely knowledgeable. He listens patiently and motivates with such positive encouragement! I love the way he helps me see what is possible - no stagnant work out - always working towards the next goal - what are my capabilities beyond what I can immediately see. He is beyond polite and courteous - and that goes a long way with someone who is in their 60s. He is so positive and cheerful!! I wish I could think of more adjectives to describe him! But this is the culture here - from the friendly greetings I get from Kyle (who signed me up for my membership) - when I arrive for my spin class, to a good morning smile from Carlos at the front desk every morning when I arrive for training - this is the right gym for me - because those things still matter :):)!!

I have had a great experience with Crunch Countryside since day 1. Always welcomed when I arrive. Zumba and Yoga classes have been great. Luke is my trainer and I have been working with him now for a couple of months with great progress! He has been so professional, knowledgeable and motivating. The trainers and entire staff seem to really love working there and that makes for a fun workout environment.

Do Not Join this Crunch Gym! I am an older woman and do not feel safe at this Gym! I have heard horrible things about safety issues here and that some young Spanish people threaten you and will bother you while you are taking a shower? There is also concerns that they leave a door open near the locker rooms to the outside of the rear of the building that anyone could come in through and into the locker rooms and do who knows what! The Spanish Manager Jesus does not take our Safety seriously! And should be fired! This door in the rear of the building on the lower level near the showers and locker rooms, is left open with a towel stuffed between the jamb? Allowing anyone one to potentially come into the building. Just don’t feel Safe going there as an older person and worry as well as a woman! With all the crazy’s today entering our borders. Don’t join or go into this Crunch there are better ones that take seriously our safety as both someone who is older and a woman. Appears they want to wait until something really bad happens to someone! Manager Jesus should be Fired. Our safety is of the utmost importance!

I went to this fitness in the country side, which is a very nice environment. I was amazed at all the people who work there, but one thing that is interesting to me is that when I get there, I meet this wonderful woman named Daniela, my husband and I am amazed at what she did to us. She was not just talking about everything; She focused on what mattered and why we were in there. I hope this fitness center understand and gives her a reward for how fantastic and amazing she is and how focused and articulate she is on her duties. I hope this fitness continues on what is most important in the business and keep the people like Daniela. Working there not just for fitness but for customers that feel welcome and happy.
