This would have been a top notch five but for the breakfast ...it is cereal and small pastries and toast but very carb heavy. It would be nice to have a bigger chouce especially as they have a very good chef. Other than that this place is superb and made all the better by the fact that it is a community run business. Brilliant job , great place.

Best Sunday lunch going! My go to place now. Foods amazing and staff incredibly friendly! The set course prices on Sunday is so reasonably priced.

Friendly and comfortable, very well refurbished, with good food at a range of reasonable prices. Dog friendly and very popular. I live nearby, but would expect it to be a pleasant place to stay.

Lovely village location, staff are very friendly, tell them your woes! Room was very comfy, slept with window open all night, no noise at all. Food was very good, no problems, lots of parking.

We had a fantastic meal from a varied menu. There's something for all tastes. However, the experience was slightly tainted when my wife reminded the rest of our party that I was on minimum wage. Thanks.

We stayed here for 5 nights. Lovely place. Room was very comfortable and staff were very nice. Food was also amazing. 10/10 would and likely will most definitely stay again. Continental breakfast, tea and coffee served every morning as included in stay. The room had tea and coffee making facilities included too. Very clean place overall too. We also had dinner one night at the pub which was perfect. Great value for money all round.

This is a community run pub ,staff very young and a little inexperienced but very pleasant and seems desperate to do well. The menu is not massive but very varied l had Ballentine of Pheasant, it was very tasty. I think this a business that I am sure will only get better, well worth keeping an eye on .

A pre Christmas break with friends. Popped in here for light lunch on Saturday, perfect selection of food. However, we booked for Sunday lunch (12 people) and I must say it was amazing! Food was brilliant (roast beef 😋) and the service was sooo good! Could not speak highly enough of this pub.

Great food, great service. The bad news is the lamb faggots are coming off the menu,😢 but the good news is the liver and bacon is coming back. 😍

Staff very friendly and welcoming as soon as we walked in! Very good drink selection and lovely wine. The food was outstanding (especially the panna cotta). Our room was lovely and clean. Good night sleep, very quiet.

Visiting the area on holiday & 11 of us went to the New Inn for dinner to celebrate a 50th birthday. Outstanding experience from start to finish. Cosy log burner gave a lovely ambience. The rugby was on the big screen in a back room to keep the men folk happy. The staff were lovely, got chatting to some friendly locals and the food was delicious. I’ve eaten at some top notch restaurants much more pricey and not had food that good. Everyone left feeling replete. Wish there was a local like this on my doorstep! Thanks to everyone at the New Inn, we’ll be back next time we’re in the area.

It's very nice and the food was fine. We had Sunday lunch but I think it was a bit overwhelming for children. It would be better if the not plain veg were brought in a serving dish really. The chocolate mousse was lovely and the staff were great. I'd happily go back.

We had a really outstanding meal. They publish a new menu regularly which included Gluten free options as well as Dairy Free and Vegan (no plate of chips and a salad here!). On top of this, it is run for and by the community- what’s not to like?

Our third visit to stay, everytime the place improves. Bike friendly. V modern and clean rooms. Food worthy of a Michelin star. Oh and ales exceptional. The surrounding countryside has numerous byways, footpaths to explore the area.

First visit to the New Inn, Halse, to watch my brother in a play. Fantastic evening, delicious Gin and tonic and friendly staff. Great evening Thank you!

Excellent service and surroundings. Main course was lovely but the sweet was very poor. £8 for a small slice of cold hard artic roll pluse a teaspoon of raspberries was overpriced and unacceptable. Lesson learned, give the sweet a big miss.

A must - the staff are wonderful and the chefs very talented. We go often for lunch - a great price point and the fact that it’s a community pub makes it that bit more special.

Excellent Pub/Cafe with great coffee and cake plus really good main menu - and not forgetting the beer. Dog friendly, great staff, outdoor undercover heated seating, what's not to like.

We just had a 60th Birthday Party in the Function Room. The Staff were brilliant and good atmosphere BUT the cold buffet was disappointing the Chicken Dum Sticks look so enimic and the Mini Sausages and so cold we were left with 3 plates of Chicken and nearly all the Mini Sausages, there was a whole plate of cheese but had nothing to go with it ie. Salad, Crackers nor any condiments. There were on sandwiches or bread for the sliced Chicken, it wasn't what l expected. But l will say again you couldn't get better service from their happy and caring staff

What an amazing pub! We were staying locally so visited the pub on several occasions. Lovely decor, great atmosphere and amazing food. Have to say a special thank you to Lucy for the wonderful (and entertaining) service she gave when we visited for dinner on the evening of my partners 60th birthday. She made our evening!

Had an evening meal booked with my husband and two friends who lived locally. Not been here before but had heard about it from friends. Friendly greeting from staff and shown to our table. This pub has been taken over by and is now run by locals as a pub and cafe. The nibbles to start were just enough so did not need a starter, a whitebait and a hummus. Mains were fish and chips, two pie and mash and a burger, all very good. Would recommend this pub.

What an amazing place! A community pub/restaurant/rooms and the local involvement shows brilliantly. Didn't sleep there but we drank and ate (try the venison tartare) and it was great. Good menu, brilliant wine list. Service utterly friendly and switched on to customers.

Came this evening for a birthday meal. I thought the food was terrific really good for the price point , staff were also great I'd happily call this my local if I was local, if I was to say anything negative it would be that the seperation from restaurant/cafe area to the bar is apparent but apart from that I really liked it here, and that aspect is easily fixed with a couple more visits asking if we want more drinks and music ambience a. Slight touch louder but I also understand that wouldn't suit everyone. Well done anyway the food and you all were great.

Since the community has become the operating interest in the New Inn, it has gone from good to fantastic! The food is excellent and the kitchen does a great job of handling large parties. The rooms are clean, well decorated, and comfortable. A truly wonderful local country pub - my American family members were delighted by both the staff and the venue. And a personal thanks to Lucy and the team for their kindness and flexibility in dealing with our large party.

👍👍 What a superb atmosphere! You find a pub which serves good beer, then another with great service and then another with brill’ food.
