Best garlic shrimp I've had in many years. My wife had a customized roast chicken salad with mushrooms and other goodies. A few glasses of wonderful Douro Valley wines. All food is made to order right here in this tiny but efficient place operated by the mother (Lena) and her adult children. A real treat to remember.

While we were in Coimbra, we found this little gem hiding in the corner of a not very busy street. Very unassuming, but the food was Incredible! In fact its one of our most memorable meals we had, in our 2 weeks in Portugal. The Coffee and deserts are amazing too. The staff treated us like family. I would 100% recommend, to anyone this place. You won't be disappointed.

Cute family style place where everything is very cozy. The waitress working at the place is super friendly, even though she doesn't speak English. There is not much information about the place online so me and my friend weren't sure when is it open and what is the menu. I recommend to go to the place for breakfast and just checkout information available from pictures, as the place doesn't seem to have an official page.

We saw how good the reviews are for this place and decided to try. We had legume soup for starter, garlic shrimp and pork tenderloin with caramelized apple for mains, and cake slices for desert (chocolate and apple, ginger cinnamon cake). They taste delicious! It was wholesome and you can taste that it's all homemade. The lady owner is very friendly and welcoming, it feels like you went to your friends place to eat.

Probably the best food in town! The owner ( Lena ) is one of the best person you will ever run into. This is not some fency restaurant, so don't look for some special service or stuff, just come if you are hungry and want to eat good! 😁

We loved this place so much for dinner that we came back the next day for breakfast. The food is tasty and visually appealing and the service is kind and attentive. Just perfect!

This place is a treasure. We stumbled upon it while looking for a place to grab some refreshment while waiting for our train to Lisbon. We liked it so much that we ended up eating a full meal with dessert and yea! We had the soup of the day, a hearty vegetable soup that tasted like something straight from the garden—simple and filling. Next we shared the Alheira—a strange and delicious dish with potato sticks, eggs, bacon, sausage, peanuts, cilantro, and orange—why is this so good? It is delightful!!!! We also had a shrimp salad—again, so good. The best part, though, was the fabulous staff who were so, so friendly and helpful. Our whole meal was a delight!!

Wonderful casual spot for lunch! The servers were very kind and helpful. We ordered the soup of the day and the francesinha, both of which were home-y and delicious (and very affordable). It’s a small restaurant, but definitely worth a visit!

If I’m still thinking about the food four months later, Coisas da Lena deserves 5 stars. We had a filling breakfast in this cute and casual cafe. Lena does the cooking. The daughter does the serving. The food was great all around - best breakfast in Portugal and top 5 meal in the 12 days trip. The creamy, cheese topped potato sticks was amazing. Prices are reasonable. Portions are generous. I’m sorry I did not get a photo of the menu, bc I would love to find a recipe for what I ate (we ordered Bacalhau a bras, which was very good but it was the other 2 cheese au gratin dishes which I dream about). Great spot to have breakfast and lunch, very affordable and large portions. The cod with cream is rich and outstanding, served in a clay pot over potato sticks. One of the best brunch dishes I’ve had in a long time.

Delightful, unpretentious eatery at a charming street corner with food you can savor with both mouth and eyes. Serving staff and owner/chef Lena happily talked us through their signature dishes. No kidding, personal warmth and cheerfulness could be infectious … and for a sweet ending, leave space for Lena’s homestyle desserts!

A really cute, hidden and authentic restaurant which offers several typical Portuguese dishes. The food is freshly cooked and really tastes like homemade. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They also have many vegetarian and vegan options. Special recommendation: their healthy apple cake without sugar and flour!

Definitely a hidden gem tucked in a little corner just off the main drag. Incredibly charming and welcoming place. The food is really tasty, well balanced, using fresh, healthy ingredients, and the presentation superb! You know immediately when you get the dish that the chef/owner takes great care and pride preparing the food. I was so impressed by the breakfast I had there (toasts with eggs and bacon, simple yet so delicious!) that I went back for lunch. And I was proven right again! Reasonably priced too.

Excellent home made Portuguese dishes. Good portions, very friendly service. Very small and cozy spot, open without afternoon break so you can eat at 4pm if you like

We ordered rice with beef - the meat was super good 👍🏻 rice seems a little bit overcooked for me, the rest of the order was great, especially soup 🍲 service is very good, friendly, very nice lady helped with the order - thank you ☺️
