The range provided a good selection of firearms, and the price for the experience was reasonable. The 20-gauge shotgun offered a satisfying kick and was a thrilling choice for target shooting. The VP9 handgun was comfortable to handle and had a smooth trigger pull. The staff at the gun range were friendly, knowledgeable, and ensured a safe environment.

Had an excellent experience at this range yesterday. I called ahead of time, my Q's were answered. We arrived and were greeted right away, and were given instructions on what to do since it was our 1st time. Everyone was very professional, and the pricing was great, as well as the ammo being reasonably priced. Great staff, who assisted us from beginning to end. We will be back again soon ❤️😊

I took a private lesson with Stephanie because I had zero experience with firearms of any kind and I was quite uncomfortable thinking about using it. She brought me in at a time when it was closed, and no one else was there, so that I had no distractions. I chose her in the first place because she conducted the HQL Class that I took, and I liked her teaching technique a lot! For our private lesson, she went over everything that I should need to know before I shot for the first time. Then she took me into the range area to shoot. I was very nervous, but Stephanie quickly put me at ease and made me feel more comfortable. She went over how I did And showed me different things with each set of rounds I shot. I left there feeling very good about myself, and very good about everything she showed and taught me! I am actually going to be scheduling a second Private lesson with her very soon, and I plan on joining her she-shooters group In the near future!

I had a private lesson with Patrick with a view of feeling more confident and consistent with my smaller carry weapon. We did some dry fire exercises and he immediately made some small but hugely effective adjustments. We then progressed to the range and within the first 10 rounds I was shocked at the improvement vs my groupings shooting prior solo. Patrick is a clear communicator, highly knowledgeable and easily helps you focus and relax. My only regret is not doing this sooner! Looking forward to continuing my skills development with Patrick.

The Concealed Carry Course was fantastic. Josh was a fabulous instructor. I feel confident that I have the knowledge necessary to start my concealed carry journey and a new hobby! Thanks Josh!

FreeState always does a great job with any of the courses I have taken there. I'm guessing over the years I have taken maybe 6 classes for various things. The last class I took was my Maryland Wear & Carry class. The instructor was Josh P. Josh did a great job keeping everyone focused and utilized the time we had with him very well! There is a lot of information to cover, and discuss. I was extremely happy with the class! If you have not gotten your Maryland Wear and Carry permit yet sign up with Josh for one of his classes!

Stephanie did a great presenting the course. I have been coming here for around 10 years to get and renew my MD CCW and they have always done a great job. I really appreciate the classroom portion, it always makes me realize the reality and consequences of carrying a handgun.

Josh has a high level of knowledge about the current state of concealed carry laws in MD, and drew special attention to the additional factors that may change again in light of the recent injunction. As a believer in common sense gun control, I especially appreciated that he does not come across as being completely opposed to all gun laws, and his important point that the question should not be when can I use my gun to apply deadly force, but rather what steps can I take to avoid needing to use deadly force even when it may be technically legal. I don't know how closely the MD State Police monitor these courses, but if I was responsible for ensuring they are carried out in a way that is responsible to our entire society, I think I would be pleased at the depth, breadth and approach that Josh takes. I also took his HQL class in January 2020, and that was part of why I came back for the Wear & Carry renewal course in November 2023.
