(Translated by Google) VENICE IN BERGAMO ??? Bergamo is divided into two sectors: high (old) low (new). The visitor who arrives in Bergamo for the first time, has the impression that the old city has been placed on a pedestal. As if you wanted to show its magnificence. In fact, the upper town is a gem. Entirely rebuilt during the Renaissance period under the rule of Venice. The Republic of Venice left a priceless treasure to the people of Bergamo. You can see it well when you arrive in Piazza Duomo. You can admire Venetian palaces, the cathedral of San Alessandro (beautiful outside, splendid inside), the Baptistery and other monuments. Venice has once again demonstrated that without technologies, only with the skills of engineering conception. With his architects, painters and sculptors he has demonstrated his art to the whole world. All the streets of the upper town exude art. It should be visited all the way up to the walls that surround the city where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the lower city. However not stingy in art and history. The upper town is also suitable for lovers and the simple tourist who wants to update their gastronomic baggage by savoring the typical cuisine. When you return home you will want to go back another time (Original) VENEZIA A BERGAMO???Bergamo si divide in due settori:alta( vecchia) bassa (nuova).

The main square in the old part of town. Unfortunately no cafes to sit at and admire the beauty, shame. Because the tower and church is very nice to photograph.

Wonderfully experience. A little touristy, but with some nice surprises along the way. Great Gelato on site ( cherry was my favorite), but wouldn't recommend the restaurants. Was able to get some great pics and a nice ride on the hillside tram-train for my daughter...

Among the busiest places in the city of Bergamo. Interesting plaza with one small fountain in the middle and very authentic picturesque buildings that surround it.

This is the core square of Bergamo and a popular hangout place with coffee shops, pizza shops, restaurants, museums, and magnificent historical buildings around it. It was built on the remains of the old Roman forum. From the 15th century the square buildings the surround the square were starting to get built giving it the rectangular shape that it has now and making it the central piazza of Bergamo. Venetian lions can still be observed on the walls dating to the time when they ruled over this area.

In some ways like a mini Rome. The old city of Bergamo is a charming, lovely place. A little bit off the plaza on the main walk street there is this restaurant that serves facaccia bread. The facaccia bread is reasonably priced and very tasty. There's also Marianna's a delightful gelatiria that claims to be the originator of stracciatella. This is one of those cities that exceeds expectations but is not in the big guide books

Of course a must see location in the Citta Alta. Very picturesque square with gorgeous structures circling it. Obviously you can expect it to be very touristy. I recommend visiting early in the morning or visiting during a less crowded time of the year. I was there in early December and the it wasn’t too crowded at all. The weather was gorgeous and it was easier to appreciate the history and get around the old town. Overall a very good experience and beautiful location in Bergamo.

Beautiful place to visit with various attractions in the vicinity. Most are free though some you may have to pay! Nice atmosphere though not the smiliest or friendliest compared with southern Italy. There are lots of cafes, bars and shops up there. You can enjoy a day up here. It can get very cold in the winter so appropriate outfit might be necessary.

Such a lovely, picturesque Old Town on a hill, with cathedrals and quaint houses, restaurants and shops. A perfect place to spend a sunny summer Sunday. We went up with the funicular, we had to wait for like 15 minutes, because there was a queue.

Must-see. The easiest way of getting to this raised square is by 'Funicolare di Bergamo' cable railway, which is very interesting on its own. Lots of monuments, nice restaurants around the square, unforgetable atmosphere of medieval walls.

Città Alta is a must see! Piazza Vechia is aomewhat the centre od this all. The cathedral, the museums and many restaurants, cafe, gelaterie and many more are sited around here. After visiting the cathedral its nice to sit on any of the restaurants and cafe around the plaza or take a moment. Quite often there are musicians playing music for the audience which is lovely.

Center of old Bergamo. The building architecture flanking the square is very elaborate and well preserved. Many tourists spend a leisurely time sitting around the piazza with focaccias or gelatos in hand while admiring the views. Spring water available from the fountain in the middle of the square.

Nice family and social place both during the day and at night. Can get quite windy being so high up, but during the summer it feels a lot cooler than down in the new town.

Spectacular, like the whole of Bergamo Alta! Everywhere you turn there's an historical building, rich in details and magnificently kept.

Piazza Vecchia represents the core of Città Alta: it has been the heart of political power for centuries and it keeps being one of the most popular places for Bergamo’s citizens to spend some time with family and friends. Unfortunately when we have visited it was under construction. No matter what we spent evening in 2 restaurants there as it was most busy place in September, Monday.

In contrast to Milano, Bergamo and especially this place feels very old and despite modern shops and restaurants, the square retains a certain aura of the days long past. I would not say it is better then Milano and it is not an unforgettable experience, but surely a very nice trip
