NO 8 DO Ob auf der Stadtflagge, allen öffentlichen Gebäuden, Polizeiautos, ja sogar auf den den Laternen, Gulli-Deckeln und Fahrrädern... Der Schriftzug NO 8 DO befindet sich überall in der schönen Stadt Sevilla, wobei die „8“ ein Wollknäuel symbolisiert, was auf spanisch „madeja“ heißt. Wenn man das Stadtemblem nun liest, entsteht der Text „No-madeja-do“ (No me ha dejado) was in etwa so viel bedeutet wie „Sie hat mich nicht verlassen.“ Mit "sie" ist die Stadt Sevilla gemeint. Die Geschichte zu diesen Symbol geht bis 1283 zurück als König Alfonso X "El Sabio" (der Weise) entmachtet wurde. Als er sich aber mit den Herrschern von Marokko verbündete, denunzierten ihn sein Sohn und die Adligen, die die Mauren unterstützt hatten, als Gegner des Glaubens. Nach seiner Entthronung durfte er in Sevilla im Exil leben. Die Stadt war ihm imemr treu. Mit der Stadtflagge und dem Ausspruch darauf wird die Treue eines jeden Svilliano repräsentiert.

A nice building at the centre of Seville.

They don't let you inside, but you can admire fine building.

Overlooking the Plaza Nueva and Fernando III El Santo monument the Town Hall and square provide a bit of peace and quiet from the tourist crowds.

At Plaza Nueva there is not so much to do or see. It is a quiet place and just around the corner of the Plaza de San Francisco and Banco de España. When you go up the street here, to the Centre of Sevilla, there are nice terraces and places to eat and sit to have a drink or so. On 1st of November, you can find many street artists everywhere, amongst which on the Plaza Nueva 🎷🎺🥁

Place with a dark past

New Years Eve amenities were cut off right at 23:59 with a wholesome bunch of tourists and people eager to watch the fireworks and Christmas tree light show.... What is that, really?

Exquisite architecture for a municipality building

Lovely building to see and explore inside. There are tours that run in the evening at 7pm but keep in mind it's only in Spanish. While I didn't understand what the guide was saying, I did enjoy the architecture and various pieces of art inside.

These wall art paintings are from all over the city of Sevilla. Many are painted on the side of buildings, some on tiles, and others on garage doors. Just meander down any winding street in this city, and you'll come across wonderful images like these.

The building looks very beautiful, but unfortunately it was closed by the stands that were being built for Semana Santa. Inside was an exhibition of items from religious processions and admission was free.
