Very nice park for short or long hike. Fish hatchery is pretty amazing and at the cost of $6 per car is a very fair price to go out and enjoy. There was some other camp sites that seemed to not be taken care of which if the park is to attract people should clean the tall weeds up. The river is just across the road and you can rent a kayak at Louisville for $30 or so. Fun place!! Outside that, highly recommend

I like going to Schramm park for the trail. There is a suspension bridge and a few other scenic areas on it. The trail I prefer isn't difficult and is about two miles. I usually take my dog, as the trail is wide and there is plenty of room. The park itself is clean, well shaded with plenty of picnic tables, benches and a restroom. There are fish to feed and usually ducks or geese hanging around. Also, a little playground for kids. It's a good place to spend a few hours.

We love Schramm! Perfect trails for toddler hikes, a playground, fishery ponds with 25 cent fish food, river access, lots of picnic tables, and restrooms.

The trails were awesome. The main trails were wider, either packed dirt or gravel. There are hills and tree roots so the terrain varies. Lots of shade. The fish hatchery museum was not open but the area around it was interesting to look at. The geological site was pretty neat, too. Will definitely plan to visit again.

Be warned. They say they have a mothers nursing room but it’s actually a bathroom that they threw a hard chair in. A mother’s nursing room should NEVER have a toilet. Very unacceptable for a mother’s nursing room! It is actually just a family bathroom. So disappointing. And it was not clean. The stuff also offered my older two children to bring a book with them, which was nice, but again. It was a bathroom so the children’s books are being taken in to the bathroom.

A wonderful place to spend the day with family and friends. Numerous activities for children and a fun way to learn about Nebraska. Featuring many fish, birds, plants and wildlife native to Nebraska. Walking and biking trails and beautiful scenic river views. Schramm park is beautiful any time of year.

This is a good place for a nice, easy hike. The trails are wide enough to hike comfortably, and a typical hike will be between 2 and 3 miles long. I would recommend this for those seeking a quick exercise through the woods. The hatchery is also very scenic and a great photo op.

Second visit here. I enjoyed it very much. I'd say Schramm is a destination for family and people of all ages. Originally the site was a fish hatchery and it's boardwalk allows inspection of the legacy works. Adjacent to the Platte River, the Education Center features an aquarium and displays of interest. Definitely a worthwhile natural history experience!

A wonderful State Park along the valley of the Platte River that provides amazing views in the drive there. The bottom area provides a place to stop and have a picnic, feed some fish and check out a "archaeological" area. It also provides some great hiking trails. They provide 2 trails that can be combined to give you a nice 2 mile hike. The trail follows down to a cool suspension bridge and you can get down into the creek area and explore the rocks. The trip back takes you through the forest to a high area of pine trees. They also have a nice playground and picnic pavilion up the hill as well. Take a moment on your road trip and stop and visit this amazing place.

Couple of missing signs on the trail, but nothing that would make anyone lost. ;)

My biggest complaint is purchasing a day permit. There is only a drop box with envelopes, so make sure you bring the exact amount you need to pay ($6 for a single day). The hiking trails are well kept, and my 4 yr old easily traversed the short loop. I'll probably go back again.

The park's most prominent feature is its pristine spring-fed pond, a tranquil oasis surrounded by lush greenery and hiking trails. The clear waters of the pond are perfect for fishing, and the scenic trails provide a delightful opportunity to explore the park's natural beauty. It's an ideal spot for picnicking, birdwatching, and wildlife observation, offering a sense of serenity and rejuvenation. One of the unique aspects of Schramm Park is its educational facilities. The Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium within the park provides fascinating insights into the aquatic life of Nebraska, with informative exhibits and interactive displays that engage and educate visitors of all ages. The park also hosts educational programs, making it an excellent destination for families and those interested in learning more about the local ecosystem. The park staff is knowledgeable and passionate about the park's natural and cultural history, and they are always eager to share their expertise with visitors. Their enthusiasm adds depth to the overall experience and provides valuable insights into the park's ecosystem. Schramm Park State Recreation Area is well-maintained, with clean facilities, picnic areas, and nature trails. It's a perfect location for a day trip, a weekend escape, or a serene retreat, offering a blend of outdoor adventure and educational opportunities.

Took the number 2 trail loop to do my first backpack hike with new backpack. Nice little trail. 2miles, kind of short, but it works for training.

Fun indoor education center, reading nook with art supplies, interactive educational prompts by each animal, sensory play, bird watching, touch tank... It goes on and on. Great place to rest, clean updated restroom, indoor and outdoor play area, great landscaping.

We love hiking at Schramm Park. The trails are easy to navigate and cleared. There are a few different routes you can take so it makes for a great, diverse day of hiking. We always love getting to the suspension bridge too!

Love it here! Pups are welcomed as long as they are leashed! (Pups were unleashed briefly for the picture. They both have proper training and always leashed in public and on trails)

I took my two year old grandchild to the educational center at Schramm Park, and it was simply fantastic. There was so much to do, and she loved the animals, makers space and play area. She got in free, and it was only $10 for me to get in. Highly recommend this place for anyone with little kids. Great.

Had a great time walking around here. I suggest taking a picture the trail map at the begining, as there are a couple of trails not marked. The main 2 loops are marked. The suspension bridge was pretty cool! Trails are well kept but there are a few short but steep inclines. I also happened upon a tree with christmas ornaments! One bulb had a photo in it. Very intriguing!

    Great trails!

The fish areas are fun for the kids. The trails are mostly clean. However, the trails are not marked well at all and the bathrooms by the playground and picnic areas are disgusting and not well stocked.

Good trails. Well maintained. Nice little nooks off trail for resting. We saw a deer.

  • 3/5 Torrey F. 4 years ago on Google
The admission price for aquarium/education center ($10 per person and $7 kids) is too high and not worth it in my opinion. I think we should encourage families to learn more about wildlife and the outdoors but it gets a little expensive for a family at those prices. It's nice that the old Aksarben aquarium was remodeled but disappointing in general. There could be more exhibits...lots of unused space.

  • 5/5 James J. 4 years ago on Google
Fun! It was great to get out on a nature hike. The path was well maintained. I think it would be a good place to hike if you're a little older. The hills weren't too bad. Some hills. Watch out for roots. Take your time. Me and my wife blasted through it too fast but we are pretty fast hikers out of habit haha. Very pretty. Most of the facilities are closed do to pandemic at this time. Get out there and see some nature!
