If you want this pearl for your own, go early. Around noon the tours arrive. You can do the trail on your own (like we did), but you need to be really fit. We also used "maps.me" app, so we could find the trail if it was not clean. Every serieus traveller should have this app. Some parts of the trail are really dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.

This beach is a dream. I recommend you to take a bath on the beach immediately after, that is glorious and protected from the waves. If visiting by yourself be sure you carry the trail path in your phone with an app like Alltrails (what we used) or Komoot. You need to have some decent fitness to reach it from grand anse. Not suitable for small kids, older or big people. This is the kind of walk where you need to get into holes, jump between steep falls, rocks are wet in many points and is easy to have a nastily accident. Seriously this is not a trivial hike. The hike of grand anse to grand cap is trivial and well indicated, but as that trail ends, the first section heading from grand cap to anse marron is a nightmare, even with GPS. There is a massive boulder formation you need to go straight through, but there is no indications at all on the rocks and on the rest of the hike that would make it way easier to follow (I suspect to discourage people from going without a local tour guide). So you kinda need to figure it by peeking, testing, walking back, etc. You will need to go to through some narrow holes ( and remove backpats to fit) climb over boulders with step falls between them... Is not an easy hike. After that nightmare it gets better. Still hard to track, still having to squat in some sections, still getting a little bit lost sometimes, but trust the GPS route, check it frequently and correct mistakes early. Look for steps, broken branches, etc that will let you now if you're on the path. Took us 1h45m to reach from the start of the trail in gran anse. The way back already knowing the route... Less than an hour.

As can be seen from the location, it is impossible to access this by boats or cars or cycles or an easy pathway. The only way to reach this on foot and one must definitely take the help of local guides available at La Digue Jetty Area to take the hike to reach Anse Marron. Trust your senses that, the beauty of the beach is breathtaking and the isolation just makes the whole experience truly magical.

Hands down my favorite beach in Seychelles. Source is underwhelming and a bit touristy for my liking. From what I understand, you can only access this beach via hiking. I strongly, strongly recommend hiring a local guide. Though the majority of the hike is pretty easy, there are a few areas going over and under granite rock formations that can disorient the most skilled navigator. It is well worth paying for a local guide and an added benefit is that you're supporting the local economy. We had the beach to ourselves and really enjoyed the remoteness. There are no facilities whatsoever, not even close by. Please do not take this hike lightly. It is physically taxing but the reward is well worth it. Do not overextend yourself. This is a solid hike not a walk on a nature trail. Gauge what you are capable of. We also did not have cell phone reception there. Go prepared! Please make sure you have enough water!

Extraordinary place ! I consider myself as an experienced hiker who has been to the top of Mount Blanc twice, camped in a remote part of the Amazon, done several days of winter hiking in the Alps or the African savannah. However that didn't prevent me from getting lost on this trail, even though I had GPS tracking of the route using the Alltrails app, when we walked westward from Grand Anse to this beach. This trail really requires a good knowledge of every rock along the way. Often you will be climbing over or under a rock formation and it can simply lead you in the wrong direction. You can literally climb up a rock formation a foot further than you should and miss the trail. Luckily we met a local guide with a small group who allowed us to join them to Anse Marron (for standard fee). The group continued up to Anse Source d'Argent, but we stayed Anse Marron, then returned to Grand Anse on our own as we already been in the western part of the cape on Anse Pierrot and Anse aux Cedre day before. It was a great decision because we could stay on this extremely beautiful beach by ourselves for couple of hours. If you want to go eastward from Anse Source d'Argent via Anse Pierrot or westward all the way from Grand Anse to Anse Source d'Argent, then you should always consider the low tide time as you will go 600-800 metres in the water between Anse Source d'Argent and Anse Pierrot. Therefore, my recommendation is hire a local guide. We met an English couple completely dehydrated and lost on the trail when we were returning in late afternoon. Fortunately they were lucky to meet and follow us back as we had similar luck with a local guide early that day.

The most beautiful beach in the world! Scenery is outright marvelous, water is not too shallow to swim, nothing compares to this peace of Eden...

Anse Marron is a secluded beach on the southern coast of La Digue. It is known for its white sand, clear waters, and towering granite boulders. The beach is divided into two sections: a large open area with deep water, and a smaller area with a shallow saltwater pool that is perfect for swimming and wading. Access: Anse Marron is a 2-kilometer hike from Anse Source d'Argent. The hike is relatively challenging and is not recommended for young children or people with mobility issues. Best time to visit: Anse Marron is best visited at low tide, when the shallow saltwater pool is accessible. The beach is also beautiful at sunset. Things to do: Swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, hiking, photography Tips: Bring plenty of water and sunscreen, and wear comfortable shoes for the hike. I hope this helps!

Amazing beach, hard to rich, but totally worth it. We did the hike with Robert Sunny Trail. Was very nice. It take 5 to 7 hours.

Ignore the reviews that tell you not to use a guide unless you do not value your life, there are many ways the hike can go wrong for even experienced hikers, especially coming from the Grand Anse pathway. I met locals that havent been here because of the hike. Do yourself a favor and book a tour that leaves early in the morning. The beach itself is one of the best in the world, the protected cove is perfect for swimming or floating, it doesnt need to be any larger since you will be the only ones there if you time it correctly. If you want a taste of true paradise, find a guide and enjoy the trek and destination.

👍👍 One of the best beaches I have visited. Don't waste your time on Grand Anse or Petite Anse - it's worth 35-40 minutes walk through the forest and the rocks. Unbelievable scenes, majestic waves and at the far point of the beach there is a natural pool with no waves and suitable for snorkeling... Must...
