One of my long time favorite places! The food is delicious and all of the owners have passed it down to people they trust and they have kept the same vibes and wonderful food. This place is a treat and my favorite place in town. My kids even love it here and we try to come weekly! Make sure to bring cash or local check. Be prepared that there will probably be a line:)

Melissa's is amazing! Love the food and people! Cheezy chicken over seasoned rice is my absolute fave! Also love the half salad :) if the rice and beans is the special get that with Cheesy chicken, and you will thank me later.

That small "hole in the wall" restaurant that every town has that the locals know but could be missed. If you like rice, this is the place to go. The cheesy chicken is my favorite. Good prices and good quantity.

Absolutely without a doubt my favorite place to get lunch. Just call before hand they may be closed.Get the Cheesy Chicken and rice but dont forget about the pepper paste if you like spicy!

Wife and I on a drive through the mountains stumbled up this cute area in Sylva, had to stop. We ended up here for a late lunch togo. We enjoyed a very nice lunch. I had their traditional cheesy chicken wrap w crunchy noodles and carrots and my wife had the chicken and rice. Both fresh and filling. Backstreet Takeout is hands down the best lunch spot in all of Jackson County and probably the entire Smokey Mountains. You know the place is good when the line is out the door and every nearly single customer is a regular and their order is remembered and made to their exact liking. Josh and Mellisa are absolutely phenomenal. Their love and care to their customers and to their food is unparalleled. My wife and I go at least twice a week usually and the food is always fresh, consistent and absolutely delicious. If you have never been and don’t know what to get, the automatic go to is the cheesy chicken with seasoned rice. You have the choice of a variety of toppings for no additional charge. I cannot emphasis enough that if you are in Jackson County and don’t make a visit to Josh’s Backstreet Takeout you are doing yourself a genuine disservice. Also, I probably shouldn’t say this but their peanut butter cookies are ridiculously scrumptious. The only reason I contemplated not sharing that info is…. I worry of too many people find out about the PB cookies there will be none left for me 😂. Thanks for everything Josh and Mellisa, you’re the best!

Love this place! Fantastic hometown Asian-ish take-out place that features fresh ingredient combinations that are really delicious. The cheesy chicken is our favorite meal choice. Great flavor with lots of yummy toppings over rice. The red pepper sauce is sooo hot though, so just add a little if you like it spicy (but not flammable)! At $8.50, it's a great price for sizeable portions--we usually eat half & save half for the next day's lunch. Yum!

Highly recommend. They only take cash. I like being able to customize my food without a lot of fuss. There are lots of toppings and sauces available. My "cheesy chicken" was delicious. Ample servings. The staff is great and helpful. I can't wait to eat here again.

I shared a plate with my 11 year old grandson. His comment when I asked how he liked it was "awesome!" That says it all!

I love them so much. My parents and I have been going there for years and the owners are really great people. They are very kind and have regulars all the time and memorize everyone’s orders. They are the sweetest ever and I love them much :))
