CALM is wonderful place to visit. Today was a my first time there and have been wanting to visit for a very long time now. The staff was really nice and welcoming. The animal enclosures where spacious, clean, up to date. They really do there best to give the animals very comfortable homes and daily enrichment. It looks like a great place for kids too but honestly anyone can enjoy this place. Highly recommend.

We came in early in the morning and it was absolutely lovely! We had a lot of fun exploring and learning, and the gift shop was lovely! It was so nice to see that my nephew could ask the workers questions about the animals and was met with such good answers.

Great place to take out son. He loves going to see the animals and take the train ride. We enjoy it so much we decided to get a family membership which is also a great value at 60.00 for a family membership. That's 2 adults and up to 6 children. They don't have as many animals as other larger zoos but there are a good number. They have a small aquatics area with some Jellyfish, sea horses, and clams and abalone. They have an area for small children with some donkeys, a pony and various sheep. They also have a snack shack, picnic area, playground and gift shop. We also love going during the holidays for their holiday light show, it is one of the best we have gone too and has won some awards.

Stopped here on a whim in transit to Death Valley. Enjoyed a quick spin around outside viewing the adorable animals. Prepare yourself for the elements and save a few minutes for the gift shop. Staff was extremely nice, especially Caryl who recommended some other great stops nearby.

Awesome small zoo with lots of exhibits. They were setting up for their light show, which looks to be awesome. Definitely worth going to if you're in the area. If I lived around here, I'd get a yearly family pass.

Nice little zoo. Loving care of the animals. You are trusting and relaxed. All animals in the zoo have a disability. So running a zoo makes perfect sense. Good Place. 🦉🐦🦡🐻🦇🐆🦊

We're sooo happy CALM opened back up!! We had a great day visiting the zoo, took our food and ate under the covered shaded area! Visited almost every area, except for the Reptile House because we ran out of time but I did purchase a family membership so we'll be coming by a lot more!! It was great to see all the kids enjoying the animals and from what I seen, everyone was practicing safety and wearing their masks where needed!

I had the best time I've ever had at any zoo that I've ever been to today at the California living museum! One of the keepers, took the time of her lunch break to show me around to all the exhibits. Which was great she did an amazing job! The best part was in all the exhibits there was at least one animal that recognized the keeper and got up and moved around. It was the coolest experience ever to be able to see the animals interact with her and each other! She explained what the keepers do to enrich the lives of the animals! Thank you Calm Zoo Animals and Staff I wish I could have gotten more pictures of the gray foxes and the coyotes that got so excited to she her! You could tell they loved her and tha she takes very good care of the animals and goes out of her way to make the visitors have an even more it's spectacular experience!

We had a great experience at CALM. We saw the indoor ocean critter exhibit. Small, but the room was very nicely decorated appropriately, and the two attendants were very informative and kind. The exhibit is kid friendly. The rest of the park is very clean, the exhibits are suited to the type of inhabitants. The park was busy with families, but we had no issues at all getting around or seeing exhibits.

This place is always great. They're is so much to see, the animals (although they don't have a ton of room) are cared for decently. It's always clean and there is a lot of information to learn about the animals that are unable to be released back into the wild. It isn't too big, you could visit and walk through in an hour or 2 or really spend the majority of the day here. Unless there's a special event (like the holiday lights) I recommend packing a lunch and really taking time to learn about each of the animals, enjoy the train ride, and play at the playground.

This place is amazing!! I took my son here when he was little and I just took my granddaughter for her 3rd birthday. The animals are all rescues and they are (if possible) rehabbed and released. If they're unable to make a full recovery, CALM keeps them for the remainder of their lives, like the bald eagles. They only have one eye and are unable to live in the wild.

Little hidden gem. A brother of mine was praying to see some wildlife and he had his prayer answered by landing at this living museum. We were able to see all the animals even the ones that were sleeping. A lot of places they have these animals but you could never really see the animals. If you are ever out in Bakersfield this is definitely a place you should visit.

I've always had pleasant experiences here at calm since childhood field trips to adult Christmas light trips, we visited again this weekend they had a free event for all families what a way to give back to the community and had alot of mental health awareness information along with law enforcement agencies , we brought our service dog and they accompanied us and gave us a safe route map through the park! They also respect the right to take pictures and video record in the park. The new aquarium is worth stopping in to see along with the informative workers stationed there.

Found out this zoo allowed veterans entry for free so we seized opportunity and came! It was worth it! There’s even a little petting zoo.

We never got the opportunity to see the light show before the pandemic this made our night. It was a fair price for our entire family to be with us. Will recommend again.

We visited the drive-thru lights at CALM Thanksgiving weekend and it was worth the wait! Be prepared to wait in line...it is a long road up the hills, but like I said well worth it! The Teen Challenge booth is off to the side, where it is also a drive up booth. They are selling their amazing kettle corn & some other snacks. The only thing that I didn’t like about it was that you had to squeeze back in line. I wish they had people on the side of the road, carefully selling the popcorn so we don’t have to move out of place, but it’s ok! Other than that, popcorn is still the best! There was tons of lights and exhibits you went through, each one of them had a theme. We love coming here each year for the lights, this year was no different. We wanted to make the best out of it, and we did! I recommend this experience to everyone, to get out and go for a joy ride to get you in the Christmas spirit. Excellent job transforming the parking lot! Hope you all get a chance to visit, it is $30 per vehicle!

The place has different animals including bear, reptiles, birds, a few large cats. The good: enclosures are very spacious and animals seem well taken care of and happy. The bad: it definitely is NOT on par worth some of the larger zoos like those in the big cities. But for the very little they charge, it's a good bargain and will get you enjoy here an hour or more. Also: play structure for the little ones. It kept my 6 yo busy after she got tired of animals

A small zoo filled with California Natives. Perfect for little ones and has a nice playground. Some areas were under construction, but that means the zoo is improving and will only get better!

A very cute place to bring the kids. You can tell they care about their animals and zoo because the place is very clean and organized. Staff was great and I love that it’s small and you are able to explore and learn about every animal. I can’t wait to return with my kids again and go during the holidays I hear they have lights in the park.

It is a small park and tends to get really hot. It is good for kids if your kids love animals. My toddler is scared of wild animals, so my visit was short... but it was still worth it as she enjoyed seeing horses, donkeys, sheep, and bears(maybe one exception)...

We joined the bears for breakfast event. It was very hot out so we did not spend a whole lot of time there. We have visited several times in the past and enjoyed the visits. Christmas time is especially fun seeing all of the light displays.

Great place to take the family. I had been here a couple of times for the Christmas lights and Halloween lights, but this was my first time coming to actually see the animals. Amazing, peaceful, and exciting place to visit. My favorite exhibit was the reptile room. Will be definitely getting a family membership

Very nice zoo/museum. Several caretakers were out adding roses and/or food to the habitats and provided a lot of interesting information on the animals they were working with.

Beautiful park, museum, local wild life ..... A little bit of everything . Also has kids playground and store on site . Lots of benches to sit , according to the season you'll miss some animals but in general lots are available to appreciate. Has bathrooms and in general a nice relax environment to walk around and look at animals and local flora.

This is a great day trip zoo. My wife and I took our baby to see the animals and we were pleasantly impressed with how well-maintained they keep the animal habitats. The staff is very nice. Zoo keeper Kourtney took time to talk to us about the animals and how some of them ended up at the zoo and all the ways they keep the animals happy and healthy. She has a real passion for animals and their welfare. It's not a large zoo but it's the perfect way to spend the day learning about the California wildlife.

It's been a very long time since our last visit, and that is completely our loss. We are excited to have now renewed our family membership. Staff was helpful as always, and let me tell you, it was a very busy afternoon for being 60 min from closing. My only complaint is that we arrived late in the day and should have given ourselves much more time! As members, we are looking forward to now getting into most events for free. We spent most of our time in the Reptile house, and WOW WE LOVE THE RETIPLE MURALS. Each critters living space has a different mural on the background. They are bright and so wonderful. ✨️ In fact, the entire CALM area had new things to see since our last visit, and that was very inspiring. You must come see the huge outdoor mural next to the play structure. We really do love this place and will see more real soon.

Nice little zoo to take the family. All of the animals seem to be well taken care of. There’s a play area and also a petting zoo. The price of admission is really fair. Also, they are planning on making expansions to the park and will have some big changes in the future.

We love CALM. We get memberships every year. This year, we upgraded our membership a bit to help them offset some costs with COVID wreaking havoc on businesses/non-profits that depend on visitors. We popped out for a visit and as usual, we had a great time. I'm taking away a star because despite numerous signs placed that masks were required, we had to evacuate several areas repeatedly due to numerous families refusing to follow the mask requests. I understand that CALM cannot control everyone but it was honestly so rampant, I was a little uncomfortable. Otherwise, CALM is the best, we love their mission and will purchase memberships every year!

Visited for the drive thru “Holiday Lights at CALM” display in December 2020. We arrived about 20 minutes before the gates opened, and got through the display in about 30-40 minutes. IT WAS MAGICAL. We’ve loved going to the traditional display and walking through the grounds, but this was an incredible stepping-up of the level of the display. I hope they do this format again! We’d definitely return - maybe even more than once in the same year!

This was soo awesome! Have gone every year (16)? Went to the first one at the RV place on Wible and followed it to CALM. Have taken our grandchildren every year and always amazed to hear the oohs and aah's from them and to see their little faces light up is always such a joy. This year was absolutely amazing with how it worked with the drive thru. What talent!

We went to the light display. The wait in your car is long but listen to the music on the FM station they have there and relax. The wait is worth it. So many fun 'Lands' to drice through it was a blast. Buy your tickets online ahead of time.or it maybe sold out. Hint before you exit turn on your navigation because this place is remote. Also use the.bathroom right before you enter because its about 90 minutes
