Oceanarium occupies large building in Pudong nearby Shanghai’s TV tower. The main part of the oceanarium is a set of severals aquarium corridors, where you can walk surrounded by fish and other ocean creatures. Should be interesting for children. Price is 160 RMB for adult.

If you like fish, then you'd love this place! Not too tough for the foreigners who can't read and speak Chinese. For us, the amazing highlights were saw fish, huge and creepy eels, spider crabs, stingrays, penguins and the shark area. The beautifully lit place for Jelly fish was also very well designed. Since this is an indoor place, if it gets crowded, its not fun. I would suggest to pick a weekday to visit. Also it closes at 6:30 so its best to reach well before that. There is a food court at the exit that serves fast food as well. The staff is very helpful and considerate (we forgot our bag and it was almost closed but they helped me take a full round of the place to find it). Great place to visit if you have kids!

Quite good, with a wide variety of sealife and thoughtful layout. There's an impressive viewing tunnel which is billed as one of the longest in the world. Some of the tanks seemed a bit run down, but on the whole, everything is well-maintained. Definitely a worthwhile destination for families. It's also right next to the Shanghai Pearl Tower and a couple of major malls, so you could probably spend an entire day in this neighborhood.

This was a pleasant break from all the shopping and eating in Shanghai. The aquarium is small compared to others but is interesting and fun nonetheless. There's a wide variety of aquatic life and some reptiles. We went in the mid-afternoon on a weekday and there were no queues or crowds.

Very nice and well lit aquarium. The tunnel passages are amazing but not always adapted to tall people so watch your head ! Virtually all signs are in both Chinese and English, which is super helpful. Went on a Saturday in March and the aquarium wasn't crowded by Chinese standards. Do keep in mind that the visitors tend to be very enthusiastic and will not hesitate to shove you a little bit to see their favorite water-denizen in its natural habitat !

Quite nice aquarium at a reasonable price to enter. Is a bit busy with some narrow paths. Has wide range of fish including some penguins which have feeding shows. Selection of rare and endangered species is worth a stop. Has a number of walk through tunnels so you can see fish all through. Ok gift and cafe shop at end.

The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is home to a vast collection of marine life, including many species of fish, turtles, penguins and other sea creatures. One of the standout features of the aquarium is the world's longest underwater tunnel, which allows visitors to walk through an acrylic tunnel surrounded by water and observe marine life up close. Overall, the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is a must-visit attraction for anyone interested in marine life or looking for a fun and educational experience in Shanghai. Enjoy :)

The aquarium was not as I expected. I went there on a Saturday and the place was jam-packed with people. I understand school holiday has started but they should set limit on the numbers of visitors. None of our kids enjoyed the visit as it was packed with other visitors, not the mention the locals had little understanding of the importance of queueing. I gave a 3 star because they had collection of fishes I’d never seen in other aquariums before.

Nice aquarium in “downtown” Pudong right across the river from the Bund, immediately behind the Pearl Tower. This is a great aquarium for kids. It has a changing special exhibition area on the 3rd floor that changes frequently . It has fish and water creatures from China and from several other continents including South America, Australia, Antarctica, and Africa. One of the highlights is a long underwater tunnel in which several species of rays, fish, and sharks swim over your head. Almost all of the signs in the aquarium are in Chinese and English. The jellyfish room is almost serene (as they’re behind glass!) and the accompanying music and lighting for the various tanks was perfectly chosen. We underestimated how much the kids would like it and we were there more than twice as long as we planned. Nice aquarium-themed gift shop on the way out.

188cm might be too tall for the water tunnels, but theyre still cool to see with your head tilted at an angle. Lensing gives it a nice magnifying effect. Day I went there were divers cleaning the gravel which was something

The fish look in good conditions. They have a good variety of fish, specially fresh water fishes (amazon, southeast asia and african). Notwithstanding, the premises are a bit outdated.

Infested with kids.. 160 rmb to go. If you head here.. Go early before the place gets overrun with screaming kids and their frustrated and loud parents. Its a small place. Can easily walk it and see everything in under 45m. Not much variety of fish.. And not many exotic ones. Cabs are easily available outside.

It wasn't as big as I expected, but it was still great. It has lots of species of fish, such as jellyfish, Chinese sturgeon, turtles, penguins, fresh water fish, and even birds. There are sections that have fishes from different continents and regions. It has a very long underwater tunnel. With sharks, turtles and lots of other species of fish.

The shanghai aquarium is located, as you can see from the map, close to Oriental Pearl Park. It was big enough. The ceiling was a bit tall. It has a long underwater tunnel that some creatures swim, while you are passing by. It has diverse aquatic creatures mostly from China and other countries such as Africa, Australia, etc. Luckily, the signs were translated into English as well and I was not lost during my visit. Like other places that have a shopping area, this aquarium has one gift shop for interested people.

Variety of fishers.Located next to the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai's bustling financial district of Lujiazui, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium (SOA) is the largest aquarium in Shanghai, and one of the biggest in Asia. Spanning 20,500 square metres, SOA is home to more than 15,000 marine animals comprising of 450 unique species from five continents and four oceans. SOA is divided into nine distinct thematic zones, designed to replicate nine different habitats as closely as possible. The SOA ‘around the world’ underwater journey begins at the Yangtze River in China, before moving on to the amazing flooded forests of the Amazon in South America. Around the corner, find yourselves in the mangroves and billabongs of Australia before meandering through the ancient rivers of Africa. After touring the humid rainforests of Southeast Asia, prepare for a change of weather and brave the icy Antarctic waters, then descend from sandy shores to the mysterious depths of the ocean. Remember to look out for these highlights: the Chinese Sturgeon, Giant Salamander, Electric Eels, Spotted Seals, Weedy Seadragons, Jellyfish, Sand Tiger Sharks and more! Rounding off this amazing underwater world tour, visitors can view the world's first “China Zone”, housing endangered Chinese aquatic animals from the Yangtze River, along with the longest underwater viewing tunnel in the world, where marine animals swim right above visitors’ heads.

Save your money and avoid this place at all cost especially during holidays! We had terrible experiences during our visit. 1. When we first entered, the staff pushed us to the escalator harshly right after the security check. 2. We were not informed of the huge crowds inside. We were stuck at the underwater tunnel without moving for 10mins+. 3. People were pushing around. One of our hairs got pulled by a stranger; one was having difficulties in breathing due to the crowds. 4. We did not managed to move our steps nor see any fishes and felt uncomfortable in that environment. So we came out right after all these incidents. 5. Some of the staffs were rude and mean. There’s many more attractions to visit in shanghai, please avoid this terrible place that has old facilities and rude service.
