Don’t go here for the Tipsy bar; what a disappointment that was. Do go for the great cocktailmenu in the Sober Society bar and good food in Sober Kitchen. Friendly staff and good atmosphere.

Sober Company staff let me tell you this: racial discrimination is the common enemy of the whole world. No matter where you are, locals always fight against racial discrimination. I assume some of your bartenders and waiters (maybe even owners) didn’t receive enough education to understand this international consensus. It’s rare to see a restaurant/bar opening in downtown playing the racial profiling and front stage racial discrimination card without concealment. EVERY bartender and waiter on the first floor are racists, with no disguise. Ask your first floor Japanese manager and his apprentice OD about it. Chinese on Chinese, Japanese on Chinese, you think we’re still living in the early 20th century when the Japanese invasion was still in progress? Ask yourselves about it! Anyway, I’ve collected hundreds of negative comments on the Chinese version of Yelp indicating your racial discrimination behaviors and intentions. I will send these to Asia’s best bars ranking organization. I will request the organization to validate your rank on the top 50s——how come a bar openly plays the racial discrimination card can still make it to the list?

One of the best cocktail experiences I've had anywhere. All the bartenders are super friendly and very skilled, all of the drinks I had were fantastic, and the vibe is just right. We received incredible service all around, and the owner took great care of my buddies and I at our final stop at Tipsy bar, which was the icing on the cake for sure.

Getting the the secret Tipsy bar is a bit of a process but it’s a good laugh and the food and drink was excellent so by the time we got to the penultimate step we were actually excited. They staff were really lovely, especially the barman in the Tipsy bar who really know his stuff. He helped us getting taxis home too so 10/10.

Fantastic drinks. Roger is the best bartender I’ve ever come across. Stopped in for one drink..stayed for 6 hours!!!

3.5 stars rounded to 4. As a frequent goer to their sister bar SPL, I decided to pay more visits to Sober after it being listed No. 12 on Asia's Best 50 this year. Most of the drinks I ordered were up to my expectation, expect for a tonic-based cocktail. The menu listed Campari, grapefruit and London Essence tonic but I was served with Schweppes instead. I understand it's been a difficult year and the drink is still reasonably priced given the cost down. But I would appreciate it if they either change the menu or inform their customer.

We visited on November 2019 and we enjoyed our dinner, chinese fusion cuisine. We especially liked the tartare and the mapo tofu foie gras. Of course cocktails were very good. It’s advisable to make a reservation.

Best dining experience we had while visiting Shanghai!! The food was excellent, the atmosphere was pleasant and the staff was superb!!
