Courtyard by Marriott located five minutes walk away from the Xiujiahui metro station. It’s about five stations away from the Central Area where the People Square is, Nanjing West Road. Metro Shopping mall is about five minutes walk away from the hotel, where you can satisfy your shopping needs and hunger with the wide range of restaurants you did be spoilt for choices. Room is comfy with queen size bed and a sofa by the windows with working desk. Coffee area equipped with boiler for coffee & tea. Standing shower wet area is separated from the toilet bowl dry area, while basin are located outside for hand washing & brushing teeth. Note lift button design not user friendly, need to press hard to active it and you need to pay attention when the lift will arrive as only light indicator is available. Staffs are friendly. Breakfast located at level two cafe. Standard international breakfast breakfast that doesn’t change much and there are two live stations for noodles and eggs. If you’re stay for more than three days, consider have your breakfast else where. Skip the pastries as they aren’t good. Overall, comfortable hotel to stay in for a short while.

Quality of this hotel seems to be degrading perhaps due to long lockdown and the maintenances not yet back to normal Marriott standard. Smelly toilet is the room, subpar cleanness, and terrible noise isolation in rooms that you can easily listen to people talk in next guest rooms. Good location with mega shopping center in walking distance and especially easy for people fly in and out of Hongqiao airport.

While location is great with many eateries nearby as it’s located within proximity to three shopping malls, the entirety of this hotel isn’t amazing. Infrastructure is generally poor where the flooring has chips and silicon seals in the toilet has mould issues. The window seals aren’t tight so it gets cold pretty fast when the temperature drops. The aircon, though shows the capacity to set above 25 degrees celcius, will never go above and I end up shutting off the aircon during my 2 week stay. The lamps in the room has rusting on metalware and the switches doesn’t make sense, I end up having to walk an entire round to switch off the lights even though there is a “master switch”. Breakfast spread was average with the typical offerings and wasn’t worth the top-up. Head out to the mall or neighbouring small eateries instead. Front desk service is the slowest I have ever experienced. The walls are “paper-thin” and you could hear what next door residents are speaking about. I have on multiple occasions (past 10pm) informed front desk of the noise issue but they did not take action at all. While the surrounding area is lovely and the location is great where you can walk to neighbouring areas - the hotel itself isn’t worth the buck. The sheets doesn’t seem to be cleaned adequately as I did find a bug on day 1. When I attempted to order in-room dining once as I got to the hotel late, they transferred my call to the restaurant and the moment I spoke English to order the person said in mandarin he didn’t understand and immediately put down the phone.

I’m gonna go with 3 stars. Location basically OK, if you need to be in that area (honestly didn’t explore, and would recommend to take a taxi anyhow). The general premises is very nice, breakfast is offering an amazing selection, both western and Asian. However the room where below standard. Reasonable clean and spacious but the AC was not working properly and spreading a uncomfortable mushroom smell. All my co-travellers had the same issue on different floors, so changing rooms wasn’t really cutting it.

Perfect location, very near the city center. Easily accessible. Rooms were clean but dated already. During my stay, only two of the four elevators were functional, waiting time was quite long. Front desk personnel were excellent; they were approachable and very helpful. Buffet breakfast was also very good.

The bed is old. Can feel movement of partner and gives me backaches. Sound proof is bad, can hear next door or outside talking. No bidet spray and shower is not separated from bath tub. Cleaning is not attentive to refill too

OK room. Some elevators under construction broken, which caused long queues. Buffet was good, location nice and central.
