Awesome experience! So well worth it! The castle is very well organized with staff throughout to help with questions and history tales. Neat and tidy, with well preserved antiques on display (hard to believe that some are 500-600 yrs old!!) The folk village is beautiful - well thought and planned out, the musicians playing all over make it such an authentic experience! We spend hours walking the trails - the fairies, the gardens, the mills... Highly recommend!

There is free parking and loads of spaces. We went on a Saturday, and it was busy with a few tour groups but still quiet enough to enjoy walking around at leisure. There are plenty of spots to stop and take a seat. The castle is well worth the walk up to the top. The stairways are narrow ( well, it's centres old, after all ). The place is steeped in history and a fun day out for the whole family. There is a cafe in the main building where you start and end from, also a big gift shop. The cafe in the folk park has indoor and outdoor seating. The bathrooms are clean and tidy. Most places are wheel chair assessable ( not the castle from what I'm aware). There are lovely staff dotted around the place in customs which adds to the atmosphere and even people playing music. There is a small animal farm, you can't pet the animals and a nice play area for the kids. We really enjoyed our day here, and the sunshine really helped 😀

This is a nice little historical stop. The castle is beautiful and thoughtfully decorated with authentic, period antiques. The grounds and village are a wonderful way to walk through history as well. We really enjoyed all the animals and the faerie trail too!

We loved our time here. The history in the houses and the castle are amazing. We spent hours here and even though it was a very wet day we loved the experience. The staff were very nice and helpful. The place is very big with lots to see. The price for admission was well worth it as you can easily spend the whole day exploring the park and castle. Brilliant we loved it.

Wow! It is a beautiful castle. Although due to long lines and being with a tour group I was unable to go inside. The grounds are lovely, though! There are flowers and plants from all over the world. Well worth spending time exploring the grounds!

Our family really enjoyed ourselves. It was a hot day but there were enough trees to keep us cool. The castle itself was impressive but the historical village was a great learning experience for the whole family. I’m very glad we went on our last day in Ireland.

Great place for all the family! Lots of history and a lovely old village to walk around! Even got a bar for your favourite tipples. The castle itself is really nice also with lots of history behind it. Would 100% recommend if you're in the area! If you're staying local be sure to go to one of the medieval banquets, definitely a night to remember and we'll worth the money.

OK... I thought this was a 30min to 1hr max trip to a castle... I was wrong!!! This is pretty much a full day out experience! The castle is amazing but so is the town inside. Wish I had left more time to explore and for tea or beer!

Loved going to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park! Had things to do for all ages and interests. The trail tour was super cute with the addition of the fairy walk. Would definitely recommend coming here if you’re looking for something to do for a few hours on your trip to Ireland.

Great place to visit with family and friends. The visit kept us all occupied for nearly 4 hrs. Can walk through the restored castle and village and get a feel for what life was like in the 1500's. Good adventure for children and educational for the young and the old. Refreshments and food are available on site to buy and the the Bunratty shop offers lots of momento's for everyone. Many B&B's in the area too.

Lovely castle and a view from out of it. I didn't go inside, but it was really cool observing every single detail. I'd recommend if you're coming back or going to Cliff of Mother.

A stunning REAL castle, not a manor house or new-build. Gorgeous, hulking castle. Great interpreter inside. Fascinating, and well worth planning it as a stop on your tour of Ireland. The living history park around it is a nice addition and buffer. Worth the money. Nice historical information boards that help with understanding the castle. Well worth seeing. Nice tea shop with friendly hostesses in the living history park.

A wonderful experience! You can see the castle, the imitation farms, and what the town would have looked like! We spent about 1 hour in the castle and two hours exploring everything else. You can definitely go quicker if you don’t stop and read everything.

What an amazing place. You get so much for your money. It's literally like stepping back in time. You can go into different houses, which are left as they were back in the day and also the castle. Climb to the towers are steep, busy spiral staircases.

I've driven by at least twice on 2 other trips to Ireland... so happy we stopped in this time. Only wish I would have spent more time here. You can easily do a full half day here, between the castle, the old folk village, the new mini-town, the animals,...there's plenty to do!

  • 5/5 Mairead W. 8 months ago on Google
I absolutely loved my time here, it was like stepping back in time. Some of which I can vaguely remember myself. Smells that brought back memories. Was told an hour and a half to 2hrs to go around the park. We spent 4hrs,could have spent more but had to get going at that stage. Have recommended it to a few people since.

Beautiful day out, lovely walks, lovely views and great food options. Staff were so friendly and happy to help wherever they could. The treck to the top of the castle is not for the faint hearted but the view is amazing!

Great experience. I would recommend this the number one attraction for this area. The castle is very interesting and represents original tapestries, furniture and furnishings which are over 500 years old. The folk village that was part of our ticket was very well done and authentic. Easy to spend a day here but 1/2 a day is sufficient.

A wonderful place to immerse yourself in the life of earlier times. Especially fascinating is the completely preserved castle. But also the open-air museum with its houses and workshops lets you dive deep into history.

  • 5/5 David G. 6 months ago on Google
More to see than you realize! You could spend hours and not see, do everything - definitely worth a visit. Nice playground, good variety of historical structures that really give you a feel for how folks lived back in the day. Take a tour or take the time to ask questions, every worker was very helpful and full of information. Free parking and decently priced shops in the 18th century street area.

  • 5/5 Sharon K. 7 months ago on Google
Best part about this is the folk park of historical village buildings. All were easy access and dressed as the period they are from. The castle is also interesting but very steep narrow staircases to access the rooms so you need reasonable fitness to reach them and the views from the top. Had lunch in the tea room with visiting chickens (see pic) and highly recommend the fruit cake.

First time there and had a great time with the family. You will get the feel of how people lived in the past. Old cottages have turf fires burning which enhances the experience. It's a nice stroll in the Folk Park. You can visit all the different shops and houses the village had back in the day.

  • 4/5 Mihály C. 7 months ago on Google
Amazing place but keep in mind if your bus stops for only 20 minutes, you only have time to take pictures of the castle, nothing else! They close and lock the small gates where you enter next to the castle and the only exit is through the Folk Park shop and it is even further away from the bus stop than the entrance. The Toilet is at the far end of the park. This layout caused some headaches for us and our bus driver. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

This was a quick stop while we were in Ireland. Unfortunately it was raining quite a bit when we were there, so there weren't many good photos. The castle itself was beautiful, and we understood that they host weddings and private event inside. There is a little shopping area across the way that was very nice and had quite a good selection.

  • 5/5 Vitalii R. 6 months ago on Google
I highly recommend it! The history of the castle is impressive, very beautiful and interesting. On the territory there is a large park with ancient architecture, which shows how the Irish lived in ancient times. It is best to plan a trip to this location for the whole day.

Our family really enjoyed this castle. 12 and 10 year kids said it was one of their favorites on the whole trip. The castle is beautifully restored and really gives a feel for what it was like to live there. The village outside the castle is equally well done and very interesting. A bit expensive to get in but there's a ton to see and it's very well done. Definitely recommend.

Interesting attraction with enough to keep everyone young and old entertained for several hours. Recommend visiting the castle first then take your time exploring the historic buildings in the park that feature homes from Ireland's past. Plenty of free parking available nearby, and adequate facilities bearing in mind the numbers of visitors.

Bunratty Castle is a family friendly place to visit. It is rich in Irish history and worth a visit. You can tour the castle and see historic medieval furnishings and art. It is not handicapped accessible and the interior stairs are very tight and curved. They would be a challenge for people with physical limitations and balance issues.

We went to Bunratty with my parents (a fit 70+) and my kids (8 & 10) and we all had a fantastic time. I couldn't see in any review or information exactly how long to stay or whether it was any good in wet weather, but I'm so pleased we chanced it and didn't try fit it in on the way to the airport. Sure, you could go walk around it fast-paced in an hour, but why would you when you could take your time leisurely enjoying the many little cottages, hidden gems in the fairy Forrest, casual beer or cuppa in one of 3 areas, or let the kids play in the fabulous play park.. We were there a good 5 to 6 hours, and that was really taking our time through the many historic buildings and stopping for lunch. The staff in the blacksmith area and the man with the drum were a highlight as they chatted away about interesting historical topics..often having the crowd chuckling with their cheeky humour. The castle steps are not for the feint hearted, but the view up top was worth it. Stopping in at the ice cream parlour next to the play area is a must! Another favourite was the black pudding sausage rolls (or would it be black pudding rolls!). I took home a bottle of castle-made Meade at €24 and we finished off the lot that night. At the end of it, we all enjoyed it, young and old.

Renovated Castle with genuine period furniture. Beautiful exterior with surrounding replica town buildings that provide an idea of Irish history. Nice gift shop with small, but very quaint and service-oriented Cafe area for lunch. Well worth the visit.

I love this place, its a fantastic day out for everyone families included. The site gives you a great insight into life in old Ireland, both from the perspective of the castle which is fascinating and the old homes and businesses that you can visit and explore. It's grants a unique perspective on how different life was for our ancestors. The site is very big but easily walkable over the course of a few hours. The food here is also lovely and the kids play park is brilliant too. Absolutely worth a visit.

Wonderful! We did not attend a medieval banquet nor Ceili in the kitchen. We enjoyed the castle and the folk park and spent a lot of time savouring both. Delightful!! We browsed through both leisurely, taking it all in. The folk park is quite big and definitely worth combing through thoroughly. It was most interesting to see how people lived once. We loved the village and the church too.

Wonderful place to visit and is definitely one of irelands top attractions. We visited on a Saturday and were surprised at how calm everything was once inside. There is a large car park right opposite the entrance, I should mention it’s free. It was €45 for two adults and a child and off we went. We decided to tackle the castle first as this has a lot of steep stairs and as we were still fresh we would try and check it off first. It was very interesting and we had time to look a every thing and take our time climbing the tiny spiral stairs and going down the tiny spiral stairs. After that we rested on one of the many seats dotted all around the park. We checked our map, which we received at the entrance and set off. The park is designed so you miss nothing and the tea room in the centre area was lovely. The old town set from around 1880’s to around the 1920’s was a lovely area, with real shops you can buy things from. The trails are gentle with no heart attack hills and no pressure to keep ahead of the crowd. We spent around three hours looking around and enjoyed every minute. Each area had guides with information dressed in period costumes and some played music which really did create a lovely vibe. Please visit and I am sure you will not be disappointed.

This was so great. The grounds are massive and you can walk around for hours just checking stuff out. The castle itself is pretty sweet and you get to see more of it than I was expecting. This is excellent value, there's so much to see. Kids loved it and there was even a pub in the village!! We decided to go on a whim, just before new year so wasn't as rammed as it might get in summer. The decorations from Christmas were still up, gave it a nice vibe

Bunratty castle is gorgeous! Walking through the street lamp path till you reach the castle is beautiful. Then once you walk into the castle you're transported back in time. We enjoyed mead, music, and a four course meal. It was so fun to listen to the harp and singers. I loved the comedy added into the performance from the butler. Overall it was a great experience! I will say the food could be better, but it wasn't horrible.

My family and I have had a membership here since our first child was born in 2010… it’s a fantastic place anytime of year! It’s great for walking, exploring, learning and bring guests! Can’t recommend this place enough. Today was our first day back since COVID, so we went for a nice long walk and just hung out - fantastic!

  • 5/5 Michael M. 1 year ago on Google
I love a historical site who will let you poke around the nooks and crannies. Short of letting you sit in the Solarium (which is at the top of one of the towers, check it out), that's what you get here. I spent 2 hours curiously walking up and down all the stairs, opening and closing doors, poking around see what's behind each. Think back to what folks must have lived like in the castle and the surrounding reenactment village. A bit of Irish history education and some good photos will be had by most, short of the likely bored teen.

Great place to visit for all ages. Had food which was nice and not expensive. There is a big playground for the little ones, lots of bathrooms spread around. A few little Shops, and you can go into most of the houses. Lovely family day out. Staff are very friendly too.

Great place to visit, not very wheelchair accessible ( the castle has to be accessed from sets of stairs). Nice village and strolling areas, outside there are restaurants and pubs in walking g distance, plenty of B and B's close by
