My husband and I renewed our vows in the summer of 2016 inside the walled garden and had a wonderful three-day stay in the castle, which we had all to ourselves. The staff was absolutely amazing, the castle was beautiful (and such a blast to explore!), the medieval dinner was a great experience, and the grounds were stunning. Quin, the neighboring village, is also darling, and we enjoyed our evenings eating at the local restaurant and strolling among the ruins of Quin Abbey. We're planning another trip to Ireland in 2020--with our family this time--and we'll certainly be making a stop at Knappogue Castle.

We had a group of six and we visited the Knappogue Castle for a medieval dinner show. The actors wore wonderful costumes from the era and entertained us with stories, singing, dancing and food. It was a wonderful evening for all of us. The actors are all very talented with their singing and playing of instruments. I would definitely recommend visiting this castle and enjoying one of their shows. The food was quite tasty as well.

A great and authentic medieval dinner with show. Very well done! I was impressed with the quality and β€œβ€feel”” of the performance. Food was above average. Very engaging show as all of the performers were professional.

The Medieval dinner was fun. The performers were very good the show was fun. The food was excellent. We arrived early and were allowed to explore the gardens. Unfortunately they have not been taken care of for a while. A good gardener could make them beautiful again.

Knappogue castle is medieval tower house dating back to 1467 and it was built by Sean MacNamara. It has a varied history ~ from being a site of a battle to a home. In 1571 the Castle became the seat of the MacNamara Clan, part of the Dalcassians. In 1659 it was confiscated by Cromwell's parliament and granted to Arthur Smith. When the monarchy was restored in 1670 Knappogue was returned to the MacNamaras. The MacNamara Clan sold the castle in 1800 when they experienced financial difficult, and it has changed hands a number of times subsequently. Today you can visit the walled garden or attend a medieval banquet both are well worth the effort. The walled garden itself is peaceful and well maintained garden.

Not open as a castle anymore, just as a venue for 'medieval ' weddings. The walled gardens are in complete disrepair. Very disappointing.

Attended the evening banquet. The in period costumed staff said a superb job of both entertainment and service. The meal was surprisingly good, expected the price of the banquet was more about the atmosphere and less on the meal, I was wrong.

This was a fun banquet experience with lots of entertainment and fun. The food was good for this type of dining experience. The wine and mead were plentiful. It’s a fun thing to do once for a change of pace.

Great castle with great views! We enjoyed the banquet and show there and both were fantastic! The were very quick to refill the wine (which was very nice) and the food was delicious, the performers were all very good as well (step dancing, harp, violin - all great). And the cup of mead at the beginning was very nice as well!

Most great experience! The workers and actors have great and welcoming service. The food came in fast in the banquet and enjoyed every bit of it. The entertainment was mesmerising, performed by really talented people. From musical instruments to dancing and the acting. We brought our 17 month old baby and they treated her so well with amazing service. I would highly recommend this place as a tour

Loved the honey mead! The food was very tasty! The chicken was very moist! The entertainment was enjoyable. The Lord of the castle was loud and clear. The lady was a little hard to hear.

Often closed. Not very accessible if you just want a walk in the walled gardens. Nice setting though, if booking for a mediaeval banquet.

Genuine castle so avoid hotter days as larger crowds an add to the temperature. Talented staff. Food average but in keeping with the era
