Wow! Exceptional meal. The mussels were a 10/10. I would come back just for that. The pastrami belly in the pub burger was delicious. Cool vibe. Probably one of the better restaurants I’ve tried in Pittsburgh in a while.

My husband and I made a reservation on OpenTable (highly recommend) for 05/17/2023. They are currently doing some renovations. The inside of Meat & Potatoes is really cool, and different than your typical restaurant. The bar is the focal point right in the center, and it's decorated very beautifully. The dining area is on the smaller side and is quite intimate. The restaurant seems geared toward singles/dates, and probably not best for a large group. Service was great and the servers (there were multiple) were very attentive. Food review: - Waygu Carpaccio | Rating 10/10: absolutely fabulous. It was on the spicier side but very flavorful. Great starter portion for 2-4 and was just very tastefully made. - Steak Frites | Rating 7/10: the steak itself was VERY chewy and hard to cut. The plate it was served on had edges and there wasn't a ton of room to cut the steak with the mountain of fries also on the plate. While the steak was chewy, the butter on top was to die for, as well as the sauce for the fries. The fries were delicious as well, very well fried and had great flavor. - Filet Mignon | Rating 8/10: my husband raved about the steak. He said the flavor was out of this world with the sauce, and it was cooked beautifully. The disappointing part was the duck fat roasted potatoes. They lacked flavor and just missed the mark. Drink review: - We had ordered 2 Sgt. Pepper's Old Fashioned, 1 Root to Berry, and 1 Cosmo (not on the menu). All of the drinks we'd give about a 7/10. The Root to Berry was super tart and the Cosmo was just ok, nothing to brag about. My husband said both Old Fashioned drinks were good but again, nothing stood out. Overall, we'd recommend Meat & Potatoes. We did spend about $100 per person, so it is pricey depending on what you order. The ambiance and service was great and the food was good, we hope to give it another shot (and their other restaurants they're affiliated with)!

This restaurant is amazing! This is actually the first time I've tried an amaretto sour with an egg white on top and I don't think I ever want to drink them another way. The bartender was exceptional and really patient with us even though they were close to closing time. We ordered the bone marrow appetizer and it was so well prepared. Every single thing they give you pair with it is such a good contrast in flavors. They really know how to diversify a pallet. Will be back!

Great food and very nice dining experience. Beef Wellington is totally worth the wait.

I really wanted to love this restaurant based off of the menu and the look of the restaurant from the inside, but it just quite didn't do it for me. The cocktails were good, but none that I'd be thinking about months from now. Some of the food came out cold and my pasta dish didn't have enough flavor to it. The staff here is very friendly, but the food and drinks were lacking. Another thing to note is that a reservation requires a $25 deposit per person which is a bit annoying because the quality of food vs. price per item just didn't match up.

One of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. Bone marrow is always a must and they even offered a gluten free option for the bread. Highly recommend to anyone in town. Definitely make reservations in advance

The hosts who welcomed us were really nice (2 ladies). The waiter was a bit cold, also didn't check on us regularly during dinner. The 50oz tomahawk definitely didn't have as much meat as I thought (the main weight was the bones), but the quality and flavor is decent. Overall a nice dining experience.

Really liked the atmosphere of this place! Very calm and relaxing vibes, and even though the dining area is on the smaller side, you’re still able to enjoy your meal in privacy. The greeter was so beyond sweet and the food was really good. Definitely want to come back and try the bone marrow!

Outstanding! From Lance when I made the reservations to Michael who looked after us at the bar to the kitchen staff who served it up to the Penguins fan who helped us with the memento Best food. Best drinks. Best hospitality. If there was an opportunity for more stars I would welcome it. Greatness doesn’t just happen. Thank you for your hard work and special thanks again to the kitchen.

Service and staff are wonderful. The Mac n cheese and carpaccio were decent, but nothing to write about. However!! I got the beef Wellington and wow it blew me out of the water!! Easily as good as Gordon Ramsay’s from Hell’s Kitchen that I had.

Definitely worth a stop (or reservation because this place STAYS packed) if you're in the mood to try some new and old dishes. Finally got a Beef Wellington in Pittsburgh that was excellently executed with carrots on the side to die for! The filet was melt-in-your-mouth delectable and the pastry was baked and finished perfectly. We also got the rolls and bone marrow for starters. The jam with the rolls was a total surprise and complimented the bread very well. The bone marrow was like butter and that alone will be a reason to revisit this restaurant. Andrew was an exceptional part of the wait staff and made our anniversary experience even better. Also recommend the coconut cream cake! Yummy! Excellent food, excellent service and an excellent time. Just stay away from the Old Smokey drink... It's literal gasoline!

Amazing food and great service. We had the tomahawk steak for 2 with truffle fries. Ask for truffle butter to go with the steak and you won’t be disappointed. Also the chocolate mousse ❤️❤️ super delicious.

The food is very good except the steak for two. It’s very chewy and nothing special. Just big and expensive. This place was awesome years ago when it was about 1/4 the price. Now everything is 3-4x price, not as good, and missing many of their best items. I understand things have changed since covid and inflation but this is crazy. It’s like $150 a person with a drink or two at least. Not worth it in the slightest.

We stopped in before a show at Heinz Hall. They were booked completely for table service, but we got bar service. We enjoyed everything, from the ambiance to our meals. The service was a perfect mix of attentive but not bothersome. We sat right in front of the bartender and enjoyed watching them make drinks. Definitely would stop again.

we loved this place. Ambiance 10/10. Drink menu 10/10. Food 10/10 but we ordered the tomahawk - took half to go home. They did not include the bone &we were very much broken up about this.

I am so happy for Meat and Potatoes to be back! I almost feel like the food is better than it’s ever been. I went to dinner and was able to try a few things on the menu and everything was top notch!

okay so let me start by saying if it's your first here ignore my review. however, if you used to go regularly let me say a few things. for one they got rid of a few things off the menu that were MAJOR for me. The fried pickles being one and the pountine as well. BUMMER they were the best fried pickles in the city if you ask me. for two, the shareable tomahawk steak. this time it was a complete let down. they changed the plating (easy to share and eat on the cutting board) it's now served on a metal serving tray and it's precut. I could deal with that but they added a parsley, cheese and lemon mix to the top of the steak which was a hard no for me. so over powering and tasted like a taco but just the meat, not a fan. the re did the inside. it's okay. the bar remodeled felt crowded to me and very clustery. Probably won't be going be back anytime soon. the table next to us said the same thing about the steak. which was also raised around 14 dollars in price. which was to be expected.

It would have been 5 stars, but they removed my favorite dish, duck liver pate, when they reopened this year. I will add the fifth star if they add pate to the menu. -------------------------------------------------- Visited 2/23/2022, pate is back and added the fifth star.

Great place for a fabulous steak and a drink after a ballgame or the theater. My filet mignon with blue cheese was outstanding. The sweet potato starter (first parboiled, then fried) was amazing. And the service is top notch.

The marrow tasted good and the pork chop was also delicious. I really recommend trying lemon cream brulee as dessert. It is the most amazing dessert that I've tried in Pittsburgh.

You're always going to do just fine at a Deshantz restaurant; but Meat & Potatoes does everything particularly well. We were extremely impressed with how flavorful and perfectly prepared everything was. The cocktails were exceptional, as was the service.

I came here to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and we both love it! The food was amazing, especially the curry mussels! The steak with truffle fries was great as well. We will definitely come again to try other things on the menu.

I seriously cannot say enough good things about dinner here. Everything was delicious, portions are substantial, and the server was so friendly and prompt. The only criticism I possibly have is that the seating is tight and you will be close to your neighbors. Other than that, make the reservation and be prepared to be delighted. We will be back!

Cozy and chill place for a dine-out. The duck liver tastes absolutely amazing with crispy bread. We waited ~40 minutes for our beef Wellington, and it was certainly worth it!

Great spot in downtown. Cool vibes inside with a nicely curated cocktail list and spirit selection. Not super extensive but thoughtful. Food was well prepared and tasty. Check it out

A hip restaurant with a classy but relaxed vibe. Ordered several apps including the Brussels Sprouts, calamari and short rib pasta. They were all delicious and service was quick and very friendly. They made excellent recommendations on beverages. I was in a big group but they handled it well and kept the service quick. It took longer to get our check.

Delicious steak and the sides/appetizers are so yummy as well! Would recommend the mac and cheese to start off with. The server was extremely nice and the service was great. My friend and I weren't that hungry so we ordered 1 main dish and it came already split for us which was super nice!

As the first time my wife and I visited was five years ago and they’ve changed some things since then this was more like a first visit. We were welcomed by friendly greeters and promptly seated. Our waiter arrived, welcomed us as well, and provided spectacular service from that point on. Having looked at the menu before our visit we already knew what we wanted, Welsh rarebit as our starter and Beef Wellington for our main. Both of these choices were miles beyond our expectations and it will be hard to stray from them for any future visits. To cap off the dinner we had Pots de Creme for dessert. The total experience and food were well worth the price.

Very good overall experience. The interior is nice which is where we sat. Lot of decor on the walls. Bar menu is extensive. The starters were good, the cheese toast was awesome. I got the beef Wellington for entree and it was amazing. Well cooked and a ton of flavor. It did take 1 hour to prepare though so be aware, especially with the time limit. Reasonably priced overall for what you're getting. Dessert options available.

Absolutely incredible, I wish I could give higher than 5 stars. The food and service was next level. I always have a certain expectation when I'm visiting a fine dining restaurant, this met and exceeded any and all expectation. I will absolutely be returning in the future - there is a reason we had to put in a reservation over a month in advance for a prime time spot on a Saturday.

First of all, our server, Nate, was absolutely wonderful. He was pleasant and helpful, offering up good recommendations. We had the paté appetizer and the Beef Wellington and both were perfect. The whole atmosphere in general was great too. Very hip and cool but I didn't feel like I was too old to be there even though I was celebrating my 50th birthday 😂
