Lake Nakuru National Park is one the best parks in Kenya. We have Lions, Hippopotamus, Buffalos , Rhinos(both black and white) . This Park has good hotels.

Lush green wildlife reserve situated around Lake Nakuru. Best for sighting rhinoceros, among other animals. Theres also a great picnic spot next to a small waterfall.

A must-visit. If you're visiting Masai Mara you should know that it's huge, and you'll have to drive a bit to see the different animals. Not so in Lake Nakuru, as the density of game is much higher here. You're guaranteed to see rhinos (we even saw the rare black rhino grazing on a bush). Its beautiful landscape is breathtaking.

Very nice and underrated park! You will need your own wheels for this park (2WD is fine) and the fee to drive in the park is Ksh 350 (or use a tour agency). We heard this park was good for flamingos but we saw a lot of the big five too. Overall we were positively surprised. Go pay the park a visit, you won't regret it.

I had a wonderful time at Lake Nakuru National park. Its best to get there earlier in the morning. I was excited to see some of the big 5 like lions, rhinos, and buffaloes. It was also great to see some of the ancient giants like the eland. The drive within the park took us about 4 hours. Its was a good day

A prime national park in Kenya where one is almost sure of sporting both white and black Rhinoceros among lions and the elusive leopard. You can have some good time with Rhinos here.

Best national park near a town, and away from the busy Nairobi city, with wide variety of animals. Excellent for a game drive and beautiful after the rains. Perfect for a weekend getaway with family and friends, a game drive, picnic at the viewpoint overlooking the lake

Beautiful landscape, lots of birdlife, giraffes and rhinos. Loved seeing the pelicans and flamingos We did one morning game drive but did not see any predators. Definitely worth a visit.

The biggest advantage here is that it is close to the city. So you can stay in some place near the park and have an amazing view. But the park itself is quite a disapointment to visit. In 2021, when the water level is still too high, most of the roads around the lake are non-passable - overflown or blocked by fallen trees. So 90% of our time during the 1-day visit we spent driving to the dead-ends and back. The government does nothing with the roads, they just leave it be. They do not build new roads. They dont even spent few money to clear the old blocked roads. And they dont even do the simpliest thing - putting some signs, that the road is blocked…

Lake Nakuru National Park (188 km2, 73 mi2), was created in 1961 around Lake Nakuru, near Nakuru Town. It is best known for its thousands, sometimes millions of flamingos nesting along the shores. The surface of the shallow lake is often hardly recognizable due to the continually shifting mass of pink. The number of flamingos on the lake varies with water and food conditions and the best vantage point is from Baboon Cliff. Also of interest is an area of 188 km (116 mi) around the lake fenced off as a sanctuary to protect giraffes as well as both black and white rhinos. The lake's abundance of algae used to attract a vast quantity of flamingos that famously lined the shore. Other birds also flourish in the area, as do warthogs, baboons and other large mammals. Eastern black rhinos and southern white rhinos have also been introduced.

Stunning park with lots of game drives and wildlife. Seeing all the flamingos at the lake was very interesting. We were even able to see white rhinos close up and even saw the endangered black rhino!

A top income and favourable tourist destination. The set up of the park gives you a glimpse of diverse natural habitat occupied by wild animals such as Lions, cheetahs, waterbuck etc

Lake Nakuru National Park is tourist attraction site in Kenya located on the outskirts of Nakuru town, towards the West Nairobi. You can spot different animals like buffaloes, antelopes, Grevy zebras and rhinos. You can also take a ride on a boat and watch for yourself pink flamingos and many types of birds for birders and researchers.

  • 5/5 Jorita S. 2 years ago on Google
Nice, really nice. Not many flamingos because of the fact that the lake is getting less and less salty. This is due to the fact that it can't loose its water due to the shifting of the tectonic plate movements and increased siltation. At the edges of the lake, the water rises and some roads are flooded. There's still loads of wildlife. White and black rhinos, loads of different birds (sea Eagle, pelican, flamingos etc) giraffes and we even saw a leopard. Be aware that the rangers who protect this area on foot, will offer to guide you closer to the African Buffalo for photos for some dollars. Don't. They are dangerous!

A change from Amboseli and Masai Mara but nothing to write home about. Good if you want a change of scenery as it is greener and hillier than the other National Parks in the region. Plenty of giraffes, flamingoes, zebras and some rhinos and buffalos. Difficult to spot lions due to the tall grass.

The first time going on a proper safari and I enjoyed it, I hope to do it again. There were very many birds and wild animals. Although the lake has risen so much, you can see much.

I actually enjoyed this one. I think a maximum of 3 hours should be spent in parks.. anything more than that is overkill. Plus the animals probably need a break. Make sure to carry a lot of drinking water. Payments by car or M-PESA only. Kenyan citizens - 800 per person

After a 4 day safari in another part of Kenya with no Rhinos spotted, I came here and saw 3 White Rhinos and also a family of the endangered Rothschild's giraffes. The National Park itself is beautiful and once in a lifetime. The long drive into it, lined by trees and lake is so cool. Check the trees for many eagles perched. Saw animals of different types too many to mention. I wasn't expecting the flamingos. Hundreds of them. This is a postcard perfect example of Africa.

This was a great experience... it is a smaller park and not as much of a wow as some of the others national parks were but it was pretty and we saw the animals that we wanted to see, other than the flamingos. I was here in the winter time however they have been having an abundance amount of rain. So the flamingos moved on because there just wasn’t not enough food with having all of the rain.. (this is not the reason for the 4 stars) the 4 stars is simply just because of the size of the park... however I’m happy I went and I would go again and enjoy it. - if you don’t want to go bushy bushy then use the bathroom before you go in.

Lake nNakuru is a very vast park. We could've roam around but it seems our guide is sick and wanted to go home but she's great at introducing the animals. We never saw any predators though such us lions, leopards and hyenas which we hoped we can see.

The place is not the same anymore ... the park is slowly disappearing and so if you want to see here some flamingos or rhinos you should not wait anymore! It is a nice and smaller park. If I compare it with Masai Mara I have to say this one is not that beautiful, but on the other hand you see few species of animals you did not see in Mara and with the background of a lake which is also welcomed. The game drive takes currently around 6 hours due to the flooded main gate.

One of the premium park by the kenya wildlife service. A home to the most protected wild animal the rhino. You will enjoy the game drives. Despite the lake overflowing makalia falls bridge collapsing and the famous flamingos migrating just a few left since its not conducive any longer. It's a beautiful park. Well maintained for nature and bird watching.

2019 Lake Nakuru Trip was fun and exciting. We saw tons of white rhino and one black rhino. The local guide was nice and professional, but we did not see any leopards that day. I was really hoping to see one. Since the large amount of flamingos left the area, it is a little quiet in the park. But there is a chance of seeing lions, buffalo and more. For travelers that are on a budget, its one of the better parks. Right next to the city of Nakuru, you can take a bus to the city from Nairobi for cheap. Then rent a local taxi there for a game drive. Its cheaper than renting a private car from Nairobi for a few days

The lake is awesome and quite large, the views from this park are spectacular. From town, if using a public means of transport take a mat and alight at Langa or lake view then you can decide to walk or take a motorbike to the entrance. Charges per person are 800ksh and you must have a car or a taxi to take you around. Cost per vehicle depends on how many seats it has and if you have your own car you will pay 300ksh. The guards are friendly and always there to help. We even asked them to take us pics and they gladly accepted.

A lot is happening along the THE GREAT RIFT VALLEY, notably is a steady increase in the water volumes as is evident here. The question that geologists will have to consider answering is if it's a natural occurrence, is it the Unforgiving NATURE which is reclaiming it's place....

Very surprising and beautiful scenery! We saw 3 white rhinos!!!!! They were beautiful and amazing to watch up close! The cliffs and forests were so beautiful. I was happy to see the famous flamingos still in residence, despite the rising water levels. I was very surprised by Lake Nakuru National Park and truly enjoyed the experience!

One of the best National Parks in Kenya's rift valley, rich in wildlife including the famous pink flamingos and a variety of other birds and best hotels and resorts inside the park.

The best experience in the wild with animals like zebras, waterbuck, buffalo, lions, rhino both white and black and others, various types of birds like pelicans, swans, weavers, and many more. Just pay them a visit and you'll enjoy all the way.

After the flood not as famous as it was anymore (flamingos) but still a magical scenery for nature and animals and a remarkable sign on consequences of climate change.

Lake Nakuru is argubly the most underated rift valley lakes in Kenya - If you want to see zebras and buffalos like you've never seen before head to Lake Nakuru. Oviously, the king of the juggle can be spotted too. Flamingos haven't been spotted in a while now

  • 4/5 Fay N. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful landscape and the lake is gorgeous, sadly it is drying up and the flamingos are moving further away. Saw a variety of animals; zebras, antelopes, wildebeests, and of course dozens of buffalos. Highlights: A family of rhinos, breathtaking views. Went in through Nderit Gate (tickets for locals are so expensive!!!), however if you want a wider variety of animals (perhaps even a lion) use Flamingo gate.

We went in through the Nderit Gate. You need your ID to determine entry fees. Citizens pay 860 for Adults & 215 for kids above 3 yrs old. Vehicle is charged separate. The fee applies for 24 hours so if you are staying overnight at any of the lodges, you need to exit the park before your 24hours lapses or you will have to pay for another day. Lots of wildlife to be seen including endangered Rothschild Giraffe, Buffalos, Impala, water buck, flamingo, pelicans, storks. There are also "Tree Climbing Lions" if one is lucky enough to see them actually up in the trees. There are some nice picnic sites with amazing views. We managed to go the Out of Africa picnic site which has a really nice view of the lake. The roads are murram in fairly good condition though some areas were flooded due to the heavy rains & resulted in fallen trees blocking the roads forcing us to turn back. Some of the signs inside the park are also quite old, broken or missing. KWS should consider fixing these to help guests especially those not too familiar with the park. Several hotels/lodges located inside the park with nice facilities. We stayed at Sopa which is 20km from the gate on top of a hill/cliff making it have the most spectacular views of the lake. It was a fun trip that the whole family enjoyed.

The number of flamingoes is reduced significantly. It's still a place of interest for people looking to easily spot lions, rhinos, and buffalos.

👍👍 I Was not able to reach upto there today due to water flooding on the way. Only 4 wheel drive vehicles were able to pass through. Unfortunately mine is not a 4wd . The site itself is a v good place. I really wanted to visit today again with my family. I have visited many times before.
