I went off the cuff and because my mum had offered to pay for lunch. Now she had visited with my 93 year grandfather for food on the Monday so I was feeling confident that I wouldn't be disappointed. She gave me the low down as I'm in the business myself. We arrived through the back where there is a car park that is free for patrons. We signed in and proceeded through the bar. I must mention it's an old coach house and it's steeped with history low beams and a feature of the original wall behind some glass. Now I have been on several family occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries alike. The bar is well stocked with up to date brands which wasn't really a feature before. My mum who loves wine selected her favourite and always a large. She then mentioned that the wine selection had improved from the run of the mill Jack rabbit wines. We were handed a paper menu and it's obvious that there venture is in its early stages. By that I mean pub classics and sharers and generally accepted in most pub menu's. There's room to incorporate local produce but in the early stages it's acceptable to play safe. The food arrived after a wait. Now living in and around Chester I was expecting a meager portion but I was wrong. As a chef of some 25 years I saw immediately the effort that had gone into the dish. Ribs fell off the bone wings not dry and flavoursome and a relaxed atmosphere ment we could chat and pick. We felt welcomed from the start and I have to say I'll be going back for sure... Just been for Sunday lunch with daughter Bar empty no other diners I requested quite clearly for Roast Beef to be well cooked 1x adult & 1x child size meal as I am in recovery from surgery on my throat which effects amount of food I can eat / digest and to equally avoid food waste. The landlord came over and embarrassed me by saying I don’t qualify for smaller portion as I don’t fit child or Senior citizen age bracket therefore not allowed to order a smaller portion. Therefore not allowed to explain my request. The meal arrived with meat not well cooked very pink /rare , looking as thought Last Rights should be given to the cuts on our plates. Neither myself or daughter could eat this I asked barmaid to take back to replace with well cooked Beef, as per original request, the plate returned with same pieces barely improved. We overheard the landlord at the bar “ what’s the problem with the food” when informed he looked as though *we* where in the wrong for asking for food to our preferred choice. We put meat into tissues as we didn’t feel comfortable raising this again ( as the only 2 people eating in pub ) Charged full price for a dreadful lunch Customer service- UNFORTUNATELY UNHELPFUL

Excellent Sunday roast dinner for 23 ramblers. Freshly cooked and the best Yorkshire puddings! Friendly and attentive staff. A really nice pub.

Took an hour to make a burger and a pizza. Tried to get them to box it instead. They agreed but took ages doing it and we had to leave. The server hid in the back. Very unprofessional

Disappointed greatly arrived at 5.45 ordered drinks and they could not supply what we wanted, then ordered food and hadn't got what we wanted again, waited ages for the meal which never came, by 7.20 left disgusted and will never return.

Enjoyed a Brunch, accompanied by a pint of Stowford Press cider. Menu, good choice, which is being enhanced further over the coming weeks. Enjoyable visit. Friendly and attentive staff.

The Hawk has now reopened after a hefty refurbishment and it looks absolutely fantastic! I ventured there for food with my son and the staff were all lovely and friendly. There is a really reasonable kids menu and a bar menu. The food was lovely and served quickly despite being so busy. It's great to have such a beautiful old pub back up and running again and looking fabulous. Would definitely recommend.

Visited this beautiful little inn today for the first time with my fiancé. The inn has just been refurbished to an excellent standard and the decor is lovely. As soon as we walked through the door we were welcomed with a smile and a friendly “hello”. The food we ordered came quickly and did not disappoint. For my main I had the Hawk Inn burger which was cooked very well and was very juicy. We shall be patronising the Hawk Inn again and again if this standard continues. Well done everyone.

Ate off the light lunch menu. Portion smaller than other pubs' light menus but ample for me and reflected in the price. Waitress was lovely.

Visited today and had a drink and a meal. The place is looking beautiful. Staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. Food was served in good time and food was delicious, fresh and hot. Amazing job to the Hawk team.

What a hidden gem this place is!! Visited today for lunch 3 adults and a child. Little hawks menu is fantastic for children and very reasonably priced. The adult meals were good sized portions and delicious. Super friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome. It was really busy when we arrived and the staff advised a small wait on food which we didn't mind. The refurb is amazing keeping all the old features but at the same time opening it up inside. Can't wait to go back for Sunday lunch (they advise booking in advance for this)

Very pleasant modernisation, some ambience of old setting from previous visits, but old setting was new once. Pulling of pints to measure could be better, look forward to Old Tom ale. Overall favourable will try food next visit.

First meal here since it reopened. Really good food, very friendly staff which adds to the overall experience. I had steak. It was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended. Will definitely be back! The steak was the most expensive thing on the menu, but well worth it. Only a small menu but all sounded great.

Wow what a plateful of delicious Sunday lunch! Best mash and 4 types of veg and the usual trimmings... then that comes with a further generous side of cauliflower cheese! Staff very pleasant, was a lovely family pub lunch... Will definitely be back!

We have moved to The Offley Arms Madeley CW3 9DX. Same great food in a lovely setting overlooking the pool.

If you want fast food and are in a hurry then this isn't the place for you. If you want amazing food cooked beautifully in the most wonderful old tavern, where the landlord Tim makes you feel like a local, the staff are friendly. Good selection of ales, real fires and a fantastic atmosphere then the Hawk is the place to be.
