GREAT TASTING VEGAN FOODS! This is my first time at The Wheel Barrel and it DID NOT disappoint! We had the Ratatouille, Mediterranean pasta salad, and tree hugger sandwiches. They were very flavorful, filling, and very much worth the visit. Our food was freshly prepared and we received it that way. The bartender was attentive and pleasant taking my order and updating me on when it would be ready to go. We will be back!

Was in town for a few days and was recommended by a friend to check this place out. The food & service was great and they had a wonderful selection of whiskeys and cocktails. The only thing I can’t understand is why they’re still using single-use paper plates/bowls. It really cheapens the experience.

Wonderful sandwiches! Just amazing. I had the Tree Hugger today with pasta salad. All wonderful. I can't say enough good things about this place for all the times I've been here. A true Topeka treasure.

My family stopped for lunch in North Topeka for lunch on May 13, 2022 on the way to a nephew's graduation in Salina, Kansas. We discovered The Wheel Barrel by chance. We didn't know we were in a for a great treat! We were starving. The restaurant was full inside, but luckily they had additional seating outside in the back of the restaurant, with a large awning for shade against the hot mid-May sun. The menu was interesting and looked exotic, with every item containing cheese in it. You could order a full or a half sandwich. And you could pair a sandwich item with a soup or salad. I ordered a half sandwich containing blue cheese and roast beef and a small house salad. All the sandwiches came toasted. I like that a lot. I like sandwiches on toasted bread. The blue cheese had melted onto the roast beef, and it was delicious! The salad was ordinary, but it was good to have a "vegetable" with my meat and bread lunch. I was thoroughly pleased. The quantity was just right, and the whole meal delicious. I thoroughly recommend The Wheel Barrel in North Topeka, Kansas.

Great grilled cheese sandwiches! I had the Tree Hugger. A great grilled cheese geared towards vegetarians. My wife had the The Mafia. A great grilled cheese with prosciutto and salami. All sandwiches are served with a pickle wedge and production kettle chips but they are good. I had an IPA and the wifey had a wheatish ale. Overall the place and food were excellent but I gave a 4 star review because the service lacked a bit. A definite place to eat otherwise and highly recommended.

Mike- the bartender amazing! So knowledgeable and thoughtful! Thanks to my bar stool neighbors received a mini well done tequila lesson. The Olga was delicious and my beer flight very tasty. Will return on future trips through Topeka, Kansas.

Our daughter drove us around Topeka while visiting and stopped at The Wheel Barrel for lunch. It was delicious and the staff was very friendly!

I got the blue cheese sandwich and it was one of the tastiest things I’ve ever had!!! I can’t wait to come back to this place 🤩

I had the monte cristo and it was fantastic, grilled to perfection, served with chips and a pickle! The craft beer selection on tap was fantastic and the bartender was knowledgeable and prompt. Highly recommend.

The food and atmosphere here are of the highest standard. I very much enjoy everything on the menu. I eat here often and all the people at my job (Fire Me Up Ceramics) frequently order food from here. We will continue to support this business happily.

We tried the Wheel Barrel after a day trip to Topeka, and we loved it! It was a nice afternoon, so we sat on the back patio:) My husband got the Kansan and I got the How Now Bleu Cow- I also got the Tomato Bisque and we split a pretzel with beer cheese. My husband got the Oktoberfest beer. Everything was fantastic! We’ve talked about going back, even though we live about an hour away. We don’t generally repeat restaurants when there are so many new ones to try, but we would come back here next time we’re in Topeka for sure!

I have one word to describe our experience at the Wheel Barrel: Refreshing. Awesome menu, Awesome food, great service. Tomato Bisque was rich phenomenal.

Fantastic hot sandwiches available on regular or gluten free bread. Delicious soups too! Fun specialty drinks. We had a great time on a night out with friends.

Most of the time everything is really good, most recently however we went and we expected a grilled popper sandwich, but received a toasted sandwich instead. Kinda disappointing. It also was way more spicy than normally prepared.

The food was outstanding! I really enjoyed the BLT that I ordered. Service was pretty good, we sat at the bar. The bartender wasn't super friendly or talkative but she kept my glass full and didn't mess around with taking care of us. Atmosphere is pretty cool and it's right near downtown Topeka, so it is located in a nice spot if you're hanging out there. I would go back for the food and recommend it for that reason alone.

Fantastic spot in Northern Topeka with real friendly people, great food, and a great liquor and beer selection (which is pretty accessible as craft stuff goes). Have been in Topeka twice for work in the past year and I've been back here 3 times. If I happen near here again, I'm definitely swinging by again. Thanks all!!

The Baja Turkey club was delicious! The bread was perfectly toasted and very good. The service was good and we didn't have anything negative with our waitress. They have a decent sized place with a lot of seating. It was clean and comfortable.

Delicious sandwiches. They’re salad and house made ranch is bomb! We’ve been coming here for the past 2 years or so and have never been disappointed. Everything is always great & staff is friendly. If you’re looking for unique and gourmet sandwiches with tons of flavor and fresh ingredients, look no further!!!

Food and drink that matches the coolness of the neighborhood. They have perfected the combination of carbohydrates with a cheese or other dipping sauce. The pretzel was one of the most unique pretzels I have ever had. The grilled cheese sandwiches looked amazing. The well curated beer wine and cocktail list was perfect.

We stopped here while traveling back from Colorado. Got there around 10, in need of food a beverage. They were kind of winding down for the night, but still treated us very well. We got the “moonlight” menu, which was a grilled cheese with your choice of two cheeses and one meat (lots of options). They were delicious, as were the great beers on tap! Food came out quick, which made it a great stop while traveling! Would certainly go back!

Great place for lunch to grab a sandwich. This place is always packed but they have a patio in the back that's always busy too! Great problem to have. Food takes a bit to come out but it's worth the wait. Friendly staff. Will always recommend this establishment. Nice to walk around noto after and check out the thrift shops.

Wheel Barrel is one of the best restaurants in Topeka. The vibe, both inside and outside, is relaxing and cozy while still being upbeat. The sandwiches are original and always delicious. The beer selection is decent with seasonal beers on tap and optional beer flights. It’s my go-to restaurant to take friends and family visiting Topeka.

Good pretzel and sandwiches. Our party enjoyed cocktails as well. Disappointed that the "homemade chips" we're just a small bag of Kettle brand plain chips. Overall, the restaurant was also a bit dirty. The bench seat looked like it had not been wiped down all day and we had to do it ourselves. Service was fine. It wasn't horrible, wasn't a great experience.

What a great lunch place. Cynthia was our waitress and she guided the four of us through the menu. The Adult PB&J along with the small house salad is what I decided on. It was fantastic. Our other companions had a variety of items but they too were quite pleased. Our first trip there but I'm hoping there are more.

Took my in-laws to a great local joint here in the heart of Topeka. The weather was nice so we sat out on the large patio area. The food was fantastic as always. They have a smaller kitchen and the wait time was reasonable for our group size. The sandwiches are basically gourmet versions of a grilled cheese. They have a lot of great combinations of cheeses and ingredients. You can customize to your liking. They serve regular drinks, beer, and cocktails. Great place to go hang out while out shopping downtown or NOTO art district. My in-laws from New Jersey were impressed with our little city. Took advantage of some cool photo opportunities right across the street!

Outstanding food, great service. They support farm to table products. They have a good selection of craft beers and even mead. The chef was amazing: he graciously finely chopped a fruit cup for the baby.
