Fabulous day out, beautiful gardens and the maze was so much fun. We thought it was going to be easy but…nope :-) we had a duck come sit with us by the river while we had coffee which was lovely. The sculptures are amazing. The coal tunnel in the rockery is an interesting walk, makes you feel like a child in an adventure.

Great place to visit & explore. The sculptures on display were great. Radical Horizons exhibition. Parking was reasonable and plenty to do just paying for parking. Unless you have a full day to explore I wouldn't pay to go in the house/gardens. We will be back for a full visit.

Fantastic place to visit. Lots of history and culture, beautiful gardens to explore with hidden gems for the kids like the rock garden to climb on and the maze to explore. Would recommend to visit the house early as it can become busy. The staff are very knowledgeable and always happy to answer any questions or give you background information. Most of the house and ground is wheelchair accessible. Parking is £5.

Beautiful place to visit only walked in the grounds and went into the farm shop which is jammed with so many fresh and locally made produce its amazing, bit more expensive, but worth it. Massive range to choose from. The Cafe's are lovely food smelled and look delicious and luxurious. The toilets alone are very different, they are all mirrored in and out of the cubicles in gold. They are very clean and neat. The grounds are vast and beautiful, there are picnic areas, we took a picnic, plenty of Sheep wandering around, you need to take care where you walk and drive. They also have Deer and Cows. There are private gardens that you can pay to look round and also the house which will cost you a fee. They had a Man on Fire exhibition in the grounds, these were from America. They had a small good fair there where you could sample food which is sold in the Farm Shop. Good place to go to take your dog, but must be kept on their lead. Plenty of security staff around to keep eye on things. Wonderful place to take kids and wear them out, there's a lovely little river to watch the ducks. It's a lovely day out especially if the sun is out, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Spent the entire day within the gardens and estate park. The gardens are beautiful, as you would expect from Capability Brown, with amazing landscaping and wonderful specimen trees and planting. Had lunch in the Stables, and then enjoyed the sculptures and installations currently exhibited in the park. Well worth the entry fee, and would certainly visit again. Very highly recommended.

Visited the house & the gardens over the Christmas period. The house was stunning, beautifully decorated for the festive season. Friendly and helpful staff, on hand to answer any questions. Being Christmas time, the exterior of the house, and the gardens were illuminated. Thousands of lights, and interactive displays were spectacular

Such a grand stately home with tons of arts displays complimenting the historical pieces. Love the vast garden, with different sites of scenery, not enough to see them all in a day. Kids love the farm yard and adventure playground. I would love to go there again with the 50% off voucher. Can easily spend a lovely day out with family here.

A lot of 🐑 on the park, they are very cute. You can interact with them directly. Garden was amazing, you must buy the ticket for garden. Recommend Cascade, Maze, and the fountain. The house inside was luxurious. It's hard to believe a family can have so many valuable collections.

A lovely day out with a great rock garden, a gravity fed fountain and a zoo type area. The house itself is very impressive. We arrived early with zero queuing to get in, however it was busy by midday.

Absolutely stunning. We stopped just for a wonder and was gone like 5 hours and didn't cover even half of the grounds. Hikes through forests, up hill, across fields and by the sides of lakes and little waterfalls. Not to mention the wildlife, wild deers are just grazing next you. It's wonderful. Gift shop and restaurant also with other amenities. The farm and playground was closed for the winter but I think it opens late February. A must for anyone who like nature and beauty.

This was a near perfect day out. We got stuck in traffic and missed our entry slot. I phoned the house and they were aware of the problem. Told us not to worry and promised to get us in as soon as they could. This set the tone for the day. Everyone was so helpful, and pleasant to deal with. The Christmas decorations were just stunning and each room came up with different ideas. The stewards were very knowledgeable and freely gave us info about the decorating process. There was a short queue to get into the restaurant. The staff were not fazed by my onion allergy and assisted me to choose my food. The turkey cobs were really delicious. We ended our day at the farm shop with a great cup of coffee and goodies to take home.

Follows COVID guidelines really well huge place and kind staff. Wonderful gardens, real good experience and just a great time. Would recommend going there for a great time!

Beautiful gardens and very extensive. There's lots of features to look for. The flowers and plants vary according to the season. You can relax in the far reaches with not many people even on a bank holiday. All the water features are amazing. I love the trough waterfall. We've come back many times over the years.

It's one of those places you have to do, but now that I have, I wouldn't bother with the house again. Only about 30 rooms to see & they're the same as every stately home. Some wonderful paintings mind you & the sculptures are beautiful. Glad I have seen inside once. The grounds, however, are lovely. I spent 90 minutes in the house and 4 hours in the grounds. A shame that only 2/3 of one glasshouse was open. Buying the ticket online in advance doesn't seem to bring any benefit as you still join the same queue for one poor cashier selling family tickets to foreign tourists who don't understand her. I had the earliest ticket slot available and still had more than 20 minutes in the queue. Staff very helpful and friendly. Parking good and not a long walk away. Plenty of places to buy food (expensive) and a couple of gift shops (eye-wateringly expensive!)

A great experience in winter......the gardens were amazing....it was so special to walk around the gardens after dark too and feel the Christmas feeling. The fountain had a lightshow too. The shops were open. Snacks and drinks were available to have outdoors which made the whole experience feel much safer during the pandemic. Masks were worn.

Loved the walk around the house all staff were very friendly and knowledgeable lovely chat with Rosemary. This was a treat for us as it does cost a little more than I'm accustomed to 😉. The walk around the grounds was great our dog loved it too . The Rock garden was my favourite. We spent a good 5 hours there. Took lots of pics but here are only a few .

I was in absolute awe of this stunning estate when we visited this past weekend. The wealth within the walls of the house is just unimaginable, and the history is incredible. Everywhere you look there are paintings, statues, items of furniture etc that are literally hundreds of years old. Parking is free if you have purchased a ticket for the house. Would definitely recommend a visit here.

Beautiful stately home and gardens with a farmyard and playground. Definitely worth booking in advance, prices vary depending on what you want to do. The house is huge and currently lots of the Duke and Duchess personal collections on display. The gardens are immaculate with plenty to see and do. I can't believe in living my entire life within 30 mins drive that I'd never been until yesterday! Recommended.

The grounds are huge with plenty of places to see and things to do. The main house is well worth a visit if you haven't been in before and kids have their own dedicated entertainment area. Ample parking with nice gift shops, cafés and restaurants. A good choice for families and couples alike.

Initially seemed expensive when we booked but after spending nearly 7 hours there it was well worth the money. Instantly impressive when you drive towards Chatsworth. The grounds are vast and beautiful. The guides at the start of the house tour are welcoming and knowledgeable. The house is incredible. Plenty of places to get refreshments. Take time to enjoy the different areas of the gardens. Loved it.

It was fantastic. Very well organised despite being extremely busy. Even with the wet weather we have experienced of late, they kept us out of the wet. The house was beautiful, garden light display exceptional. The market was a nice visit. If doing the lights, the darker the better. Enjoy!

Absolutely glorious place, the house is definitely worth the visit inside as each room is stunning. I have visited twice now and both times have been equally very lovely. The gardens are extremely impressive, without a doubt one of the best places to visit for a day trip. The restaurants are fabulous too, a perfect way to treat your self! The shops are also very nice and their own chocolates were delicious! I will definitely be returning! Love it here.

I have come here with my family twice and both times we loved it. It gets extremely busy though. It’s a lovely place to have a picnic as the river view is very serene. There’s also a hiking trail which is fun to do. The woods are so peaceful and the steep steps provide a good challenge. You get to see the the aqueduct and the hunting tower and other various things on the hike. The gift shop has some lovely bits although it’s quite pricey. Toilets were clean when we went.

I’ve been to Chatsworth a few times in the past, and it has always been a rather enjoyable experience. They have a mini-farm, with horses, pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs and many other animals. There is an adventure play area, which is very fun for children, as they will spend hours on it. There has been a Christmas event here for over 20 years now, and this year they were celebrating the various themes they have explored through the years inside of the house. Outside, there was an illuminated walk with a huge amount of wonderful light features.

Absolutely stunning. Beautiful house and gardens - no argument needed. Perfect for all ages with wheelchair accessibility throughout the site. So much to see and do you could spend a whole week there - massive play area and farm for children (and adults) with entertainment provided too, such as milking goats - but this is just the children's area - the main house is huge and absolutely beautiful inside - the stewards and helpers are extremely knowledgeable and really friendly. Furthermore, there is lots of places to find food within the site, for all ages. My only criticism is that they make you wear rucksacks on your front inside the house. Finally the grounds outside the house are fantastic. Huge rock garden which I was gobsmacked by, a great maze to enjoy and lots of greenhouses full of plants too.

The house is fantastic and worth a visit. On this occasion we were there for the Christmas Market.. If you are after cheese, booze, chutneys or hand made crafts it's worth a visit. Serving a nice Bratwurst as well.

Beautiful. First time visiting and how wonderful it was at Christmas. Lovely shops within the grounds and the gardens (although chucked it down woth rain) we gorgeous with the light show. Absolutely would visit again!

Wonderful display in the house on an Advent theme. There was also a Christmas Market in the grounds with various stalls and entertainment in the form of a band. Parking was very well organised with boards down as the weather had been very wet. A great day out for all the family. The only downside for me was the cost of food and drink. Even take-out food was expensive.

Beautiful gardens and parkland. Stunning artworks, furniture and items of antiquity. Very friendly and helpful guides in every room. The multimedia guide is very informative; I would recommend paying the little extra for it. The guidebook is very good value for its price as it is essentially a complete book as opposed to a slim booklet. I would recommend visiting on a normal week day when it is quieter, particularly if visiting the house. We had an excellent day. Thank you😄

  • 5/5 City G. 7 months ago on Google
Beautiful stately home both inside and out. Timed tickets means it's not too full in the rooms so you can see the impressive decor. Gardens are stunning there's plenty of grounds to explore and I'm sure it's fantastic every season. Didn't pay to go to the farm and would not have had the time as there's so much to cover including a maze.

  • 5/5 Rebecca P. 7 months ago on Google
£5 to park at the moment, this changes for the Christmas period when the Christmas market is there. The grounds are stunning. Hoping to visit again to see the Christmas decorations in the house. Walked to Edensor village which has a pathway, little bumpy if you have buggies/wheelchairs etc - Book tickets in advance and have them ready to show

  • 4/5 Helen R. 5 months ago on Google
Our visit was for the advent Christmas event. The tickets were considerably more than last year and in house displays were lovely, but not as good as previous years. However the outdoor lights and advent projection were spectacular. My advice, skip the house and go straight to garden only tickets. I love Chatsworth and live quite near, but they are in danger of pricing people out, especially if the experience they offer continues to decline.

  • 5/5 Kellie T. 7 months ago on Google
I can not think of an adjective to properly describe the house and grounds. Magnificent...majestic...opulent? Yes on all. The grounds and garden were wonderful to walk through, explore, and photograph. I highly recommend buying tickets and adding the multimedia guide. Lunch at the on-site Café was delicious (mini quiche and BBQ pork jacket potato with salad), and there is plenty of seating. Book a ticket and wear comfy walking shoes, you won't be disappointed.

Great day out with the kids. They particularly loved being allowed to play the piano in the house and the violin in the cupboard room. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable, gave the kids just the right level of info to engage them and not go over their heads. They enjoyed the farm and play area too. There is so much to see and do, we didn't manage it all. Look forward to going back another time.

I loved our visit to this historic home. Such an amazing place to wander around. Inside and out it was Christmas themed and the trees in each space were just gorgeous. I could have spent so much more time wandering the grounds but I was cold so we will return in summer to see it all in full bloom. The staff are absolutely top notch and so polite and welcoming. A small price tag for such an experience. Plenty of parking and a lovely, not over priced gift shop to buy some lovely things. Would highly recommend to anyone. Please go at least once it’s a great family day out and dog friendly in the grounds.

  • 5/5 Stephen F. 5 months ago on Google
We were in the area and decided to visit as it was somewhere we'd always wanted to go to. It was mid November and the Christmas theme was in place. The Christmas Market with lots of stalls was set up outside the house. The stable shops all had a festive element too. After the market we took a long walk around the grounds. Even in November there was plenty to see, cascades, sculptures, maze, lakes, fountains, rock features, etc. In order to enter the house we had to pre-book a time slot. Our trip around the house was more focused on the festive themed rooms, rather than the house itself. Maybe we need to visit again in the summer. Once the house tour was over it was back into the gardens to follow the Christmas lights trail, some of it accompanied by music. The light display on the house at the end of the walk was stunning. Absolutely fantastic end to the day. The whole experience was fantastic. Staff (some in period costume) very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Great house and gardens, you can spend hours going around the garden. You have to book a time slot for the house, lots to see. It's definitely worth every penny. I would definitely go back to see what we missed.

Wanted to visit for years and we finally did it today. 500 years of history to enjoy and it doesn't disappoint. Lots of lovely gardens to see, The Emperor's Fountain and The Cascade just to name 2. Go and have a great day out as there is so much to do you will have to go back 👍

  • 5/5 Pinar A. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely stunning grounds and House. We had such an amazing day with the added bonus of visiting the Christmas Market. The Market was really busy which made it difficult to actually visit most of the stalls but we did get some really special pieces to take home which made it all worth it. Everyone we encountered were really friendly and helpful. Will definitely love to visit again.

An absolutely stunning stately home and grounds. We have been here a few times over the years, but this was our first time visiting at Christmas. The decorations inside the house are breathtaking and you can see the level of effort that has been put in. The grounds are also beautiful to walk around. We visited the Christmas markets as well, which had a good mix of stalls there. The only downside was the limited number of toilets available. I imagine this is not an issue throughout the rest of the year, but with the high volume of people that were attending the house and the markets, there was a constant queue for the female toilets. Not something to put me off completely, but something to be aware of if you are visiting.

  • 5/5 Mikayla Z. 9 months ago on Google
Absolutely stunning! The house experience was gorgeous and well worth it (I am a Pride and Prejudice fan to be honest!) and I could've spent all day in there. The grounds were absolutely endless and I was bummed I didn't have a chance to explore even more! Kids really enjoyed the stables and adventure playground. All in all, well worth it, but it's definitely a minimum of half a day (and I wish I could have had more time)!

  • 5/5 Kate L. 5 months ago on Google
Yet another good day at Chatsworth. Visited twice now and I’ve really enjoyed it both times! Loved the theme of advent in the house this year and particularly enjoyed the elf. The Christmas market was amazing, lots of really nice things for sale, lots of stalls with amazing Christmas gift ideas. Be mindful of the weather as the walk from the car park to the house is particularly muddy despite the walkway. Beautiful setting for a walk with or without the dogs. Amazing to see so many deer!

  • 5/5 Amy G. 5 months ago on Google
Arrived too late to see the house but was able to walk around the gardens. The lights and music were amazing and there are small stalls as you walk around to get a mulled wine / hot chocolate and toast marshmallows. Would definitely recommend visiting over Christmas!

  • 5/5 F L. 8 months ago on Google
Really nice walk around the garden with the dog. Lots to see and do to explore and so very well maintained. We entered the gardens from the entrance by the stables where there was no queue - tip tip from one of the volunteers...

Just a fabulous place. Visited many times, but this time just parked in the main car park and went for a free walk in the park next to the river in front of the house. Plenty of Deer to watch and autumnal colours to enjoy.

What a Beautiful Place to spend a day out, lots to see and do, lots of English Heritage. Walking around the house really gives you the feeling of how it used to be in the very earlier years, amazing, all the staff are very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend you visit Chatsworth House if your passing, or looking for a day out. 👍👍👍👍

A well presented stately home, adapted for the 21st century. Pricey if you indulge, but well worth a full day of exploration inside and out. Make sure you pick a good weather day.

  • 5/5 Sally T. 2 years ago on Google
The house itself is not a particularly stunning building,, such as Burghley house, but the inside is fabulous, the well-known staircase and the ceiling paintings are out of this world. The rooms that are open for the public are outstanding, fancy having leather wallpaper! The grounds, by Capability Brown, have stood the test of time and are superb and, of course, the fountain and the cascade are works of art in themselves.

We booked a 10.30am slot for visiting the house. We arrived extra early and were delighted to see a stag with beautiful antlers on the bank looking across at us. Also there were sheep galore roaming everywhere. We made the most of our prompt arrival by walking up to the Dell which is situated pass the farmyard. We didn't see another sole it was so peaceful. The house is incredibly stunning inside and out. We saw the famous violin picture in the music room which is one of the things Chatsworth is known for. The kitchen garden was full of pumpkins and the apple trees still full of fruit. History, glorious scenery and shopping if you wish all within one visit.

Love it here. Great for walking the dog along the river. Saw deer too. Went to the Xmas market which was free to enter. Didn't park at the house itself, but at Calton Lees. £5 for all day, & about 1½ miles walk to the house.

We absolutely loved our visit to Chatsworth. We got there when it opened and left when it closed and still only managed to cover a part of the grounds. This time of year, with the autumnal colours and the Christmas trees in doors was incredible (even if a little pricey to get in). Highly recommend!

  • 5/5 Andy B. 2 years ago on Google
This is a must visit place, especially for the Christmas Lights! Not only is there so much to do, but the place is huge. The gardens go on forever, and there's an endless amount of stuff to see and explore. The maze was particularly busy, but a lot of fun! The farm is pretty good too. Whilst the last entry is 4pm, I'd advise going before then in winter. The animals were starting to be moved to the fields (as it was getting dark), so little to see if you go at 4pm. In terms of the Christmas Lights it's superb! My one recommendation would be to better light the walkways, as pretty dark. Going around the house itself is a real eye-opener and a real insight into how people lived many years ago! My one critical from the entire day was the Cavendish Restaurant. Whilst they day they're open until 5pm, the toilets aren't!! Staff close them off about 15 minutes early to clean them. Unfair, as should be done after closing time, not before. I witnessed many people getting turned away (and many with young kids). Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone. There's so much to see and do, and a very reasonable entry price, in my opinion.

First time I've been able to venture out to the Christmas Market at Chatsworth. Was well worth it. Lots of stalls offering various great items. Many of these offering tasters of food and drinks too. Great fun family day.

Been here several times and just love the history and grandeur of the place. This time they are just in the process of setting up for Christmas, with Christmas Trees throughout the house and they were spraying the courtyard with false snow. Beautiful.

Beautiful gardens. We visit regularly as we have family nearby and it's always a pleasure! Great outdoor spaces, lovely places to eat and fab shops. Haven't visited the house itself in a few years but will try and visit near Christmas as well worth it.

  • 5/5 Richard S. 2 years ago on Google
A remarkable building steeped in history. The house has been decorated beautifully for Christmas and a credit to the team. I was also fascinated to see a picture at The Game Larder of the Head Game Keeper, Ben Stone, taken in 1910, who was my Great Great Grandfather. I knew he was the game keeper, but I'd never seen a picture if him. My Great Grandad, Percy Stone, was Head Gardener here too. A great day out and made even more poignant by this discovery.

  • 5/5 Willow Hope (Willow M. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing location, the gardens are well worth exploring. I went during their Christmas festivities and stayed until dark to follow their illuminated walk through some of the garden, and it was so magical! Also spent a long time browsing the Christmas market, which is very extensive and diverse.

  • 5/5 Mark B. 2 years ago on Google
Wanted to see a traditional country house all dressed for Christmas and this place did not leave me disappointed. The rooms were simply stunning and this year featured some of the displays from throughout the years. The surrounding grounds and farm also kept busy for a good 5 hours whilst waiting to be admitted into the house.

  • 5/5 Helen E. 2 years ago on Google
Very busy in Christmas Market. Lots of different stalls. Plenty of toilets and any queues went down quickly. Too many dogs there. Chatsworth House tour was amazing! House and grounds were breath taking and outstanding.

Loved it with the Christmas decor, don't know how many Christmas trees there were, 30?? Beautiful. Loved the fake snow in the quadrangle, looked so real . Gardens really lovely especially the man made stone one. Got lost in small maze! Liked the coal place and tunnel which originally went to the house. Lovely day out.

Incredible place. One of the highlights of our recent holiday to The Peaks. Something for the whole family. If you can go there, do. You won't regret it!

Christmas visit was not disappointed. So many beautifully decorated trees and rooms that at times I forgot to see the artwork. Gardens are nice to walk as well with some stunning scenery. Sadly missed the market.

Impressive architecturally but a unusual mix of classical and modern art sharing the same spaces was a little weird. Great playground for children of all ages, nice food options and great grounds to explore. Book ahead for an early visit to beat the huge q of cars

Always beautiful we visited for Christmas to see the lights and the decorations. Amazing! If there was a negative, the drinks were overpriced and under quality - hot chocolate was instant, made with water and £4! Coffee, not much better, and the tables needed cleaning. The only reason for not getting 5*
