First time here n we just loved it. A little piece of Newfoundland...from the decor to the food to the very friendly service. Highly recommend the lobster poutine. We will definitely be back.

We happened to be driving through Fergus after a kayak trip and stopped in for some Newfie fries. The poutine was delicious and the Newfie fries were amazing! It's such a cute spot over the water, the outdoor patio is lovely! I highly recommend a walk over the river to the garden too.

The setting and location of this hidden gem is fantastic! Small town of Fergus. We had one of the best Sea food chowder’s ever! It’s made from scratch and just wow! Also had the fish & chips, the fish piece is huge, the fries with malt vinegar are superb. My only complaint is that the tarter sauce wasn’t the best but that’s just me maybe. Also the Shrimp tacos (3 pretty big ones) had them with poutine fries. The whole name was amazing and will for sure be going back. This restaurant is about a 8 min drive from Elora.

Absolutely love this pub! On the beautiful river in Fergus, the view from the patio is amazing. The food is good (try the Lobster Poutine) and the staff are very friendly and courteous. We love visiting when in the area!! Highly recommended!

I have been wanting to go to the Goofie Newfie for some time now, but it has always seemed out of the way. I finally made the trip this past weekend and honestly I don’t know why it took so long. The restaurant was like entering a typical restaurant on the east coast. The decor and music playing was definitely a throwback to Newfoundland. Service was great, very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing, the fries, dressing and gravy (a Newfoundland staple) definitely hit the mark. The best I have had outside of Newfoundland. I will definitely be back to try some of the other menu items. The bread pudding was also a great treat for dessert. If you have any east coast roots or even looking to try something new, this is the place for you. Would highly recommend trying out the Goofie Newfie on your next food adventure.

We found this place by chance and we're glad we did. Amazing views from the patio along with great food and service. I had the Newfie Steak sandwich and my wife the Haddock and Chips. My sandwich was excellent and the Balogna was about an inch thick and cooked perfectly. My wife's fish and chips were excellent too. We will definitely be returning.

Had a late lunch here over the long weekend. It was busy but once seated our service was great! The food was delicious and portions were a good size. We had lobster poutine, lobster mac n cheese, Cajun fish tacos, deep fried pickles and their big fish sandwich. Sit on the patio for a nice view.

Honestly if your in Fergus you need to eat here. Portions were huge, food was delicious. they sell their sauce too which we bought. The server we had was so friendly and outgoing. I will gladly drive the hour to eat there again Update: We drove back for dinner 6 of us. I didn't realize would have been better to make reservations but the hostess was so accommodating. Everyone loved their meals we will keep driving the hour to this restaurant

Had an amazing time at this charming bar nestled next to a serene creek, surrounded by lush trees. The atmosphere was absolutely enchanting, providing the perfect setting for a relaxing evening. The drinks were top-notch and the service was impeccable. I couldn't have asked for a better place to unwind and enjoy nature's beauty. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a unique and delightful experience! Don’t forget to try Shrimp rolls and lobster wrap.

What a great place , probably the best location for a patio setting ever. This pub overlooks the waterfalls you can't get that many other places . The portion sizes are amazing you get a lot of food for your money . I will make a point to return here if I'm back in the area.

What a great little place, excellent service, food and beer. Great location right on the river. Definitely have to go back for more east coast classics. Don't forget the Newfie steak!

This venue was recommended by a local, so we happily made our way there. Although very busy, we managed to get 3 seats at the bar. It was very lively, and had a great atmosphere. The menu was varied and everything sounded great, we finally decided on the Haddock and fries. The food was good and hot, and tasty. Prices were reasonable. Friendly service. Would recommend. Oh and Bonus, we enjoyed the Scottish Pipe band, who played a few tunes, in celebration of the Towns Scottish Heritage.

I have to be honest, we didn't get to eat here! We were looking for this well recommended restaurant, yet as a first time visitor to Fergus, I found a few other restaurants before landing at the Goody Newfie. Although we were stuffed, we did walk in, look around, check out the menu, bar, and felt the cool vibe of the ambience. Oh man, we wished we weren't so full already. Heaping plates of wraps, burgers, salads wow, everything looked outstanding. Goofy Newfie, I will return! Destination, Fergus ON, OVER the bridge! Cheers, Spicy Jan

Great atmosphere with a great view of the water. Fish tacos were to die for. The kids meal was a good portion. Highly recommend getting one of their Moscow mules.

Great service and excellent food. I didn't ask about beer from the east coast. They did have an in house selection which was pretty good. Dogs are allowed on the patio, but best to check with the host before assuming it's okay. We brought our 110lb guy and asked to sit in the corner in case someone on the patio was afraid or uncomfortable with dogs. We had fish and chips, which we ALL enjoyed.

The Goofie Newfie is the best restaurant/bar in fergus. From the Beauitful patio with water-front view to the ambiance is very fitting for this Newfoundland family owned restaurant. We arrived just before the peak lunch rush, we were seated quickly. We started our course with the marine mussles, which is by far the best mussles we've had with an unbeatable price. From the vast variety of meal options it was hard to decide on the main, we selected the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and the cod au gartin with mash. Both were great for the price. Not the best, but the experience alone made up for it. 100% would come back again.

My son and I went for lunch and it was really good. The only issue was that the bees were pretty crazy on the patio. We were warned though. Lol. Wings special is on Thursday at $10 per pound (7 wings). Lobster poutine was good

The Goofie Newfie is a great place for some east coast favorites. Had fries with dressing and gravy and some fried bologna chunks. Almost as good as being out East! Would recommend to anyone looking for a good spot to eat in Fergus!

What a great experience! They have not one but two great patios with an amazing view of the gorge! Our server was just absolutely amazing, so nice! The service was excellent and really fast, everyone was so attentive! Menu had a lot of options, food was great, very generous portion sizes. All the tables are far apart and everything feels very clean and covid safe, we felt very comfortable here! What a gem!

They have a nice outdoor patio running parallel to the grand river. The sound of the falling water adds nicely to the atmosphere. The Newfie lager, served icy cold was a real treat. The flatbread was loaded with chicken, bacon, onion, mixed greens and guacamole with a nice chipotle sauce. The mussels in a white wine garlic sauce were huge, a full pound and a half.

Celebrated my Dad’s birthday. From start to finish our server Shannon made this an incredible experience. The atmosphere is fun and inviting. Our meals were hot, delicious and more than filled the plate. We will definitely return and highly recommend.

Spent a beautiful evening on the patio, thankful it wasn't a super hot day. Looking forward to the restaurant opening up their in restaurant dining (not sure the reason it's not open). The patio was a lovely experience, the sound of the falls in background made for the best ambiance. Overall food was good but just a bit on the pricey side for the quality in our opinion. - The seafood chowder was awesome so well worth the $13, I just wished there was more to be honest. - The Lobster roll lacked flavour and too heavy on the onions. The fries were really yummy! - The meatballs, gravy and mashed was just ok... meatballs and mashed potatoes were average, gravy was very tasty. - The fish and chips were quite good and crispy not soggy, heavily battered if you like that - for me a real negative was their water... lol, I know but I really enjoy water with lemon with my dinner and their tap water was awful... if I owned a restaurant I would never serve unfiltered water. My mixed drink was good though and my husband appreciated the Dad's root beer. Our waitress was not great but might have been new or overwhelmed so we'd give that the benefit of the doubt... the other staff we encountered were very nice and welcoming. In conclusion, we would definitely try this place again; to give it another shot and try some of their other menu items... I might have to have that chowder again though!

Great Patio with super energizing sound of roaring river under Your feet. Food great and tasty with no stomach adventures, for that reason We’ll be back. For good food and big plate- You have to pay without complaining. Servers super friendly with favorite word for customer- “Absolutely!!” 😉😉 PS. Just because we came and encountered heavy rain.... umbrellas don’t work in such time...if business gets better, please think about patio roofing and if You put a bucket for customers to pitch in - I am first !!! Love the vibe of Your place.

Great view of the water while enjoying your meal. The lobster poutine was incredible but the burger was disappointing, dry and overcooked. Service was alright.

👍 My lunch of chicken wings and beer was a bit disappointing. The wings were not as meaty as some restaurants offer. Not the tiny winglettes the box restaurants offer, but not massive by any stretch of the imagination. They were delivered promptly but were neither hot nor spicy. My first two choices...
