If I could give this 0 I would......The one woman on the phone was extremely rude when I was just trying to ask a question about the food & possible substitution .... and then when my husband picks it up she says " what was that about? Next time order what we have or don't come back" I even apologized on the phone for asking but I was nice the whole time I was just a little confused about the prices and just wanted French toast, bacon and home fries. And she says "ok" and hangs up....and she didn't even ask us how we wanted our eggs, kind of toast, anything. No options.. We didn't do anything to be treated with such disrespect........ I hope nobody spit in my food ....

This place has all of the breakfast and lunch classics. Your meal here is comfort food made with love. The portions are great and the service is speedy but they certainly are not rushing you out the door. Take your time, enjoy your meal, have another tea or coffee. The decor is kind of lacking but it is also part of the charm, I love it. Over the years it has varied but usually they have sweets, preserves or pickled goods you can buy. If you are on the go they will gladly provide you take out. I have always felt welcome here and the service just fine. The prices on the menu are more than fair in these times. Whenever I'm in town, I try to drop by for a meal. If you are a local or just passing through, do yourself a favour and get a bite to eat at the Main Street Cafe.

The food was good, but I don't like asking for the same thing twice and not getting it. I finally had to get up myself, go to the kitchen door and ask for what I needed.

Simple, clean, nothing fancy. Good, home style food. Others must agree because I've passed through this town 3 times now and stopped here to eat and all three times, weekend or even midday during the week, this place was full.

It's truly mind-boggling that Main Street Cafe remains one of Shelburne's most popular eateries...given that I've known hospitals that serve far better quality meals. Between the underlying rudeness of one particular older server, the desperately-dated decor, and lack of true accessibility (a problem quite pervasive in Downtown Shelburne), it's no wonder they're having trouble hiring new staff. The only saving grace is that they finally acquire a deep fryer, so now their home fries don't resemble/taste like small soggy sponges. That, and they serve a decent breakfast and grilled cheese.

The Main St. Cafe is a true diamond in the rough! Located on the main Street of Shelburne, is an unpresumptuous location that boasts breakfast and lunch. I can't speak to the quality of the breakfast but I can say that their dinners are second to none. When you first step inside, the atmosphere is quaint and understated. Your inclination might be to shrink away from the old wooden chairs or the mismatched tables. You could be forgiven for thinking you'd stumbled into just another dying, small-town greasy-spoon. Take a moment though; look closer. The paint is fresh and well chosen, the shelves are lined with local preserves for sale, and the walls speak of a comforting cottage rather than your typical mid-town breakfast spot. The staff are friendly and helpful with ordering, eager to point out the daily specials. And quick with refills and anything you might need. When it comes to the food, if there is a special, I highly recommend it. My table ordered both specials and were extremely happy with the quality and the quantity of the food. We ordered the roast beef, their cheeseburger, and the souvlaki (pictured). The roast beef dinners were very generously portioned, served with perfectly cooked vegetables, mashed potatoes, and one of their famously large dinner rolls. The beef was extremely well cooked and tender. The cheese burger was a hand made patty smothered in real cheddar cheese and topped to your preference. It is served with skillet-fried potatoes which makes for a pleasant change of pace from regular french fries. The souvlaki was perfectly seasoned, served with rice, more of those perfect vegetables, and a fantastic Greek salad that was filled with fresh tomatoes and the welcomed twist of julienned peppers. I can honestly say that this was one of the best meals I've had so far this year, a welcomed surprise and one that I would recommend strongly to anyone passing through Shelburne.

We have found areal Hidden Gem The big Breakfast is a BIG Breakfast, eggs are cooked to perfection, the bacon is crispy and home-fries are tasty but not salty You have to try the Grilled Reuben sandwich, it's really yummy The coffee is strong but very smooth and will definitely wake you up Kim the waitress is wonderful and is a good source of information about the town in general We will definitely eat here again

We ordered food for our family Christmas and it was the best food I’ve ever had at Christmas. The most most flavourful turkey I’ve had ever in my life!

Drove a long way to meet a special person for lunch there. Starting with food: Great coffee! 'Bottomless'! We split 2 slices of quiche and had our own side salads. Delicious and fresh. Stayed a couple hours because we had each driven a long way: catchup post Covid time. Warm welcome. Décor interesting and creative. Comfortable and relaxing. Great service, friendly but not intrusive. Enjoyed my trip to Shelburne. Friendly folks there. Love the shops and welcoming folks along the street. #10 hwy. Meeting a friend 'half way ' at Main Street Café in a couple weeks. Now that in itself speaks highly!!

Quick friendly staff who served with a smile. Sandwiches for lunch were quite large - BLT and Egg Salad overflowing. Also the Reuben was great with home fries. Prices reasonable. Good location along our route. Sure beats having to stop at TH again. Will keep this place in mind for future travels.

👍👍 The Duffy or the Dufferin Public House was the best patio experience we've had in a long time. 1st off vip section in the back, dog friendly and super adorable. Chef " barb" smashed out some serious home cooked goodness, #goodlot local pints were a hit. I would definitely recommend and will be back...
