Had dinner here for my wife's birthday. The first time here and the private greenhouse was unique. We ordered essentially a bunch of appetizers, a pizza, a soup and a salad. I do feel for the waitstaff coming and going to the greenhouses it was not well thought out and a lot of doors and stairs. The soup and salad were alright. After that it got worse. The pizza was burnt on the bottom and the appetizers really lacked any sort of panache. They were really kind of bland. For the price I had really hoped for better. We also did not see any waitstaff after the food was brought out to check on us and the fact that our drink and water glasses were empty was missed for well over an hour. They did treat us to a birthday surprise which was very nice. Maybe another visit might be better but I can't say I'm hurrying to go back.

My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner. It was our first time at Puddicombe's. We were very impressed with our appetizer- filled with flavour! Our dinners didn't take very long to arrive at our table. Portion sizes vary but for the plates we ordered, we're pleasantly surprised. Hannah was a great server and attention to detail was evident. Great smile. Thank you Puddicombe for a great evening.

Had the pleasure of attending a wedding of a close personal friend and coworker. This venue is located in a small town called New Hamburg. The location is ideal, a stones throw from major cities. Less then a 30 minute drive from Kitchener Waterloo for hotel accommodations and connections to highways. After the beautiful ceremony in a large room we had cocktails at a outdoor bar located at the side; greeted by a large mural. Succulent appetizers followed and we where treated to a gourmet 5 star dinner inside. The ceremony area was opened up to create large dance floor and seating for the celebration. Service from the bartenders was top notch friendly, as we joked around the whole night with them. Even the owner of the Puddicombe house was lending a hand serving drinks when it was busy. Overall I am waiting to be invited again to this locale for another magical evening.

The calamari app was perfectly cooked. Service was top notch. Beef rib was also incredible. Our only complaint was the t-bone was ordered rare and served well done - however, they comped the steak and gave a delicious dessert as an apology. The Cornish hen and the blueberry meringue gin also looked amazing. Would definitely return.

I like to give great reviews to local businesses as much as possible. However, our dinner at Puddicombe House had some good and not-so-good points. The good... arrived early for reservation and were seated immediately. Our sever was attentive and friendly. Our appetizer, a cheese and bread plate with a fancy name was absolutely excellent. My wife said her main, the curry bowl, was 10 out of 10. The not-so-good... my $50+ steak was a big, big let down. A good piece of meat shouldn't be smothered in sauce. It should also be hot. This steak was swimming in sauce. The colour inside was a nice medium rare, but the steak itself was barely warm. The potatoes creation was hot but so crusty on the outside it definitely had a "reheated" vibe. The biggest distraction to the whole meal was the door slamming. We sat in the front room next to the bar room, and heard the door SLAM everytime staff went to the patio. But that was still nothing compared to the bartender slamming her bar fridge shut every 20 seconds. Please, management, sit in this room and listen. The environment offered doesn't match what I think YOU think you're offering. New Hambug has lots of good eats. I'll do the circuit again before trying Puddicombe House another.

Went there for a wedding and we were really impressed! The food was amazing, the venue was elegant and spacious, and the service was lovely. It's also a bed and breakfast, and I can imagine a wonderful one! Beautiful experience - we'd definitely go back just for the restaurant.

The entire atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing. I have heard good reviews but wow. The staff are so professional and respectful, they definitely went the extra mile. The food just topped everything off. Great servings and the quality was tasted in every bite! Prices are very reasonable as everything seems to be house made. I will definitely be coming back and making recommendations to anyone looking for a great night out.

Had dinner in the greenhouse. Excellent atmosphere. Cozy, warm, private. Great for a romantic date or night out with close friends. Food is exceptional. They rotate elements of their menu seasonally and have fresh daily specials. Lots of options for vegetarians too.

This was our dedicated Valentine's spot as we had our first Valentine's day at this restaurant and every year we would celebrate it here to commemorate our first time. Even during the pandemic we either risked it or brought take home. We kept trying to book their small little green house space but it was never available. So this year we intentionally booked our reservation weeks in advance and specifically asked for it. We show up and are informed that there was a button that needed to be pressed (apparently we were supposed to ask to sit outside in February to book the enclosed structure within an enclosed structure) and that they couldn't be bothered to read the written request in the notes (making me question why they even have that if they don't care enough about providing good service enough to be bothered to read them). We accepted that despite trying our best and planning weeks in advance we weren't going to get what we had requested. But then to add insult to injury, the hosts (who spent more time looking annoyed and blaming us for the restaurant's poor website design) then decided to put us at a tiny table barely big enough for 2 that they squeezed in between 3 bigger tables next to the bar in the most crowded and high traffic area of the restaurant. Literally the worst seating in the house. As someone who has been a host, bartender and server in the restaurant business for years, it is insane to me how they thought that people who booked weeks in advance, had explicitly requested a private and quiet spot, and were already disappointed in the poor service (not new for this place sadly) would be receptive to being given the worst table in the place that was squeezed in unsafely in a blatant cash grab where there was less than 2 feet between us and 4 other tables. We ended up leaving and having our Valentine's ruined, but we decided that was better than being knocked into and having to yell all night to be heard over the tables that were too crowded together all night. We won't be returning.

We were there for a wedding reception. What a perfect venue. The food (We had beef short ribs) was succulent. The restoration of the house and the additions that have been made are impeccable. It has a feel of elegance and class while simultaneously making you feel comfortable and at home. Well done all!!

We went here for our anniversary dinner. The service was great and the food even better. The menu has many popular dishes that have a more sophisticated twist. The atmosphere is cozy and on a warm day the patio looks like a great place to spend some time. As a lovely surprise we were given an amazing dessert to share :). We will definitely be back.

Lunch with colleagues. Overall nice place and probably better for a romantic dinner. I had the pappardelle and it was okay nothing exciting. The portion is fairly small in my opinion for the price but maybe I’m wrong. Was nice to see the family that owns the place working hard to plant all the flowers and beautify the front yard.

Love the atmosphere and being able to share a special meal with friends. I asked what an ingredient in a dish was and the server was incorrect in her description so it lead to me not liking my dish. My husband swapped meals with me and it was fine but a bit more menu knowledge would go a long way. I'm pregnant and finding it hard to eat a few things which is why it mattered. Overall a great experience! My phone lost service in the restaurant which is why I couldn't google the ingredient

I have not stayed here for the night but have been here around 6 times to eat at the restaurant. It is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants. Excellent food flavour and presentation. Atmosphere is really quaint and cozy with your favorite person or just with family n friends. The service has always been top notch. The pricing may seem to be on the high end...but that is simply because that is what your getting. Thanks Puddicombe, I cannot wait to eat here again. I would definitely consider staying here for the night, since i know how well they do the food. Cheers.

Have attented New Years dinner here for many years, but sadly things have changed from exciting tasting menus to a regular menu. This has still been very good with a nice atmosphere and good food. Sadly, this was not the case for 2023. We sat at a table that might as well have been at the kitchen door and right outside of the bathroom. Food was not up to previous experiences but we made the best of it. Struggled with the finish though when our server came to tell us that they were very busy and did we want dessert or coffee. Obviously we left and sadly will be looking for a new experience for 2024.

My son and daughter-in-law were married at this quaint venue and I can’t say enough! The attention to detail and providing anything needed was impeccable! The food was incredible! The short ribs melted in your mouth and everything was so flavourful! 15 of us stayed over and had the new suite, one of the cottages and 4 rooms and they were all clean and so comfortable while being very quaint yet luxurious! Breakfast was included and was so delicious and presented like fine dining! We can’t thank all the staff enough and especially Nick for taking such good care of us all!!!

Excellent experience! Attended a wedding recently. The staff was very courteous and attentive, food was great with excellent presentation, and ambiance was beautiful.👏 Will definitely be back to try out the cool outdoor sheltered patio. Looks so pretty with all the lights on at night.

We had our wedding at the Puddicombe house, everything was phenomenal. The entire process was easy and fun. We stayed at b&b for the weekend, the cottages are beautiful. We used the salon services for pedicures, makeup and hair - everyone loved their looks! The wedding itself was perfect. The venue is gorgeous. The food was great - our guests were raving about every course! Thank you for everything!

Ive only experienced the restaurant so far, but the venue is something out a fairytale, whenever I get engaged I will definitely be considering this location. Has everything you need from spa, to accommodations, restaurant, and a gorgeous venue. I go to a lot of nice restaurants in southern Ontario to find the best creme brulee, and it held first place to me for a few years. I'll have to come back to refresh my memory and to see if it's still the best!

Had the pleasure of attending a wedding here and it was perfect in every way! The beautiful venue, outstanding staff and lovely flow from the indoor service to reception was perfect! The soup and braised short rib dinner was exceptional; one of the best wedding meals ever, no exception. Will definitely be trying the restaurant next! Definitely a place to consider for future celebrations!

The dining experience was exceptional (10/10) with various seating areas. We opted for the outdoor patio. The food, especially the pizza, was outstanding and the service was really good. Definitely visit if you're nearby, it's worth it!

I want to thank the staff of the Puddicombe restaurant, particularly Kaitlyn who took such care with a special lunch for our family. It was my father's 96th birthday and he had a son and grandson coming from Michigan to be with him for lunch. We needed a setting that was very quiet so my hard of hearing father could hear all the conversation. Kaitlyn took extra time to make sure it was just perfect - and it was! And the son from the States commented on the incredible menu and food - like New York city finest restaurants. We were thrilled and so grateful! Highly recommend and will happily come again for special celebrations.

Attended a wedding here. Lovely experience! Staff was so friendly and personable. My husband was extremely late and missed everything! The staff was kind enough to put his plates aside and kept everything warm & cold for him. Simple but lovely decor in the hall. Highly recommend this place. Food for the wedding was fantastic!!!

Amazing experience in their private greenhouses ! We had a shrimp pasta and the puddicombe za, both were phenomenal. The drinks were wonderful as well. It was our anniversary and they even gave us a complimentary dessert. 10/10 would recommend.

Have eaten here many times, and just hosted a work party here. All the food and drink were amazing. Communication was great for setup and easy to work with. The service was excellent. Highly recommend. Also go regularly for pedicures at the spa, and they can’t be beat. Clean and comfortable settings, and the leg massage is next level!

Had a great time for dinner! There were 8 of us in a garden gazebo! The menu is fairly extensive with a great price point considering they are casual fine dining! Great food -- I enjoyed the Braised Beef Short Ribs!!

I didn't know about this place until I was a guest of honour at a wedding shower dinner. It's aeautiful historic home with hotel behind. We sat on the patio but the whole restaurant atmosphere is wonderful. Fantasic service; attentive , professional and personality. The portion sizes are a great value and while the menu is not huge (which is preferred) there is something for everyone. It is the perfect spot for a special occasion.

Over the course of a few months, my family and I came here to eat 3 times - the 2nd two times being an attempt to have this restaurant redeem themselves. All the 3 experiences, we came fo a late lunch, around 1:30/2pm, so we were pretty much the only ones there. We sat indoors within eyesight of the bar area. All 3 times, we sat for over an hour, watching about 4-5 waitresses chat with the bartender, with zero service. Despite them being about to literally see us, watching them, waiting for our very quick orders. Until getting up and asking them how much longer, when the reaction shows they likely didn't even place the order over an hour ago. The 3rd experience really was the cherry on top. Coming with someone who is a recent cancer survivor, we told the waitress we were really hungry and how important it was for her to regain her energy quickly, and ordered the quickest things on the menu, sandwiches. Again, watched over an hour as the staff chatted at the bar with no service. We really wanted to like coming here, and gave the staff 3 chances. I cannot say enough how disappointing these experiences were, and will never return here. I urge the management here to reconsider your staff expectations, and perhaps hire staff who will actually do their job. Cannot emphasize enough how disgusted and disappointed we were with the service here, do not recommend coming here to anyone, even if you have hours to wait for a sandwich - it won't be worth it.

Who knew you could find such elevated and well executed food in a small town like New Hamburg. The bolognese was right on point, the lamb shank was fall off the bone tender and packed with flavor, the calamari was some of the best I’ve ever had. I’m too of all that, they had these very intimate greenhouses that they seated us in, which added to the experience. Finally, the service was just top notch: well informed about all the items, friendly, and very attentive. I’d would absolutely go back.

Went here for our anniversary dinner and were absolutely blown away. Everything from the drinks, appetizers, mains and desert were made with a lot of care and heart and you could see the locally sourced ingredients shine throughout the menu. I ordered the braised beef short ribs (pictured) and the celeriac purée and potatoes complemented the meat perfectly. The ambience of the “house” was also something that we thoroughly enjoyed. Would highly recommend as a place for celebrating special occasions

Will definitely be staying here again, my partner and I had such an amazing time for our anniversary. The food was delicious, the staff was amazing, the drinks were phenomenal and the rooms were stunning. Cleanliness is a big thing for us and the room was immaculate. They were super sweet at dinner bringing us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. My partner and I agreed that this will be one of our new little getaways.

Beautiful restaurant. I feel the servers could improve on their skills a bit. Second time I’ve been there in 2 months and the server was friendly, but not attentive. We asked for the bill after our table was cleared from dinner plates and declined dessert and waited more than 15 minutes just for the bill. Very quiet restaurant as well so when you are having a conversation with your table you feel as if everyone can hear you. Needs more background music and ambience. Still very pretty and food was great! Love the covered patio!

😠 Would give 0 stars if I could. One of the worst attempts I've ever had at going to a restaurant.
