I
stayed
at
Sunny
Day
hostel
for
5
nights
in
April.
The
weather
was
great
in
Takamatsu
at
the
time,
warm
and
sunny,
making
April
an
ideal
time
visit.
I
had
the
pleasure
of
staying
on
the
fourth
floor
called
Mitate.
It’s
like
a
loft
apartment,
modern
and
Japanese
styles
combined.
Featuring
a
cozy
raised
platform
living
room
and
futon
space,
a
nice
walkout
balcony
and
a
cool
private,
open
air,
wooden
bath
and
shower.
There’s
a
smaller
balcony
at
the
back
too.
Highly
recommended
for
a
couple
or
up
to
four
people
if
you
are
close
friends.
There
are
no
elevators
so
be
prepared
for
a
good
stair
climb.
Sunny
Day
is
conveniently
located
near
many
must-see
sites.
Walking
distance
it’s
under
20
minutes
to
Takamatsu
Station;
Takamatsu
Port
for
ferries
to
the
Setonaikai
islands;
Takamatsu
castle
grounds
and
park;
Kagawa
Museum
featuring
designer
Noguchi
Osamu-sama;
the
north
end
of
the
vast
shotengai
shopping
arcade;
and
one
of
my
favourite
places,
the
eclectic
Kitahama-cho
area.
Kitahama
is
home
to
quite
a
few
young
entrepreneurs
with
art,
fashion,
cafes
and
restaurants
having
a
chill
bohemian
vibe.
Check
out
Kitahama
Blue
Story
for
various
artist
works,
206
Tsumamu
Cafe
for
the
most
delicious
selection
of
mini
quiches,
tarts
and
great
coffee,
and
don’t
miss
Umie
for
dinner
and
a
great
view
of
the
port.
Takamatsu
is
a
great
city
to
rent
a
bike,
most
train
stations
have
bike
rental
for
200
yen
a
day,
super
cheap.
Takamatsu
is
also
a
great
base
for
visiting
the
Seto
Sea
islands
like
Naoshima,
Teshima
and
Shodoshima,
home
to
art
museums
and
installations
and
of
course
quiet
island
communities
with
beautiful
scenery
and
great
food.
Every
three
years
the
Setouchi
Triennale
art
festival
happens
throughout
the
islands.
I’d
like
to
thank
Go-sama
of
Sunny
Day
for
his
hospitality.
He’s
kind
and
helpful
and
took
care
of
all
my
needs
and
concerns.
Takamatsu-shi,
greater
Kagawa
and
especially
Setonaikai
are
wonderful
places
to
explore.
I
will
be
back.
