Peace Pagoda, Darjeeling or Darjeeling Peace Pagoda is one of the Peace Pagodas designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds to help unite them in their search for world peace. It is located in the town of Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal. Like most of the other Peace Pagodas, it was built under the guidance of Nichidatsu Fujii (1885–1985), a Buddhist monk from Japan and founder of the Nipponzan-Myōhōji Buddhist Order. The foundation stone of the pagoda was laid on 3 November 1972 by Nichidatsu Fujii, and was inaugurated on 1 November 1992. The pagoda was designed by M. Ohka, and it took 36 months for constructing it. It houses the four avatars of Buddha including Maitreya Buddha. The height of the pagoda is 28.5 metres (94 ft) and diameter is 23 metres (75 ft).The Pagoda is situated on the slopes of the Jalapahar hills of Darjeeling, a few kilometres from the town of Darjeeling.

The serenity of this place is divine. The moment you enter the temple, you'll feel the positive vibes, calm and soothing environment. Try to visit during prayer times of temple and participate in the prayer. The mesmerizing sound of drum beating is mighty enough to heal your mind and soul. Peace and enlightenment shown by lord Buddha is being well lived here and can be felt as well. Priceless heritage and must visit place. India is great!

I went few days ago and these are the pictures. It was terribly foggy and cold. The best part is the view of Kanchenjunga from here but due to the fog, I won't get a view. Away from the hustle this place is really mind calming. Stories of Lord Buddha, his life and struggles are encored on the walls as pictorial structures. Beautiful depiction of his life in pictures. This place is clean and well kept. Greenery all around.

The beautiful Buddhist monastery and Peace Pagoda is located near the top of the Jalapahar Hill, about 2 km from the Darjeeling Clock Tower. We are lucky that it was open while our stay in Darjeeling in the last week of December. We were even more lucky because we witnessed snow fall here. The pagoda had beautiful gold plated sculptures of the Buddha in various postures and murals depicting some of the events in his life. Mesmerizing view, serene peace and awesome place with tall pine trees and rhododendron bushes just beginning to flower, and with the majestic Kanchenjunga mountains as the backdrop. A must visit place.

The Japanese Buddhist temple is incredibly peaceful and symbolizes peace across the earth. Its beautiful and also historic at the same time. Our time at this place was good but not so awesome because the clouds were completely covering the peace pagoda and it was very cold. Must visit if you are in Darjeeling.

This is one of the best place to visit. If you want some peace just go and visit there. You will be able to see a part of Darjeeling. Great Scenic beauty. It is not very far from Darjeeling. And one attraction is St.Paul's School. It is very near to that place. And most importantly you can click good pictures!! Must Visit!!

You will get a good site of kanjunjanga if ur lucky and there is no mist. Constructed very beautifully. But I'm reducing the stars because there is no information anywhere that mentions why it was built and what was the purpose behind it. Even if it's a recent monument there must be something that tell the importance and significance

Very peaceful and calm atmosphere. They were offering prayers when I visited in the morning. It was so peaceful that I stayed there till they finished their prayers. Lovely prayer hall. They offered me and husband sugar Prasad which I appreciate for their gesture. Place with a beautiful view. It was different feeling altogether. They had displayed the chanting which I chant whenever I feel low. Fell in love with this place.

It’s a must visit place in Darjeeling, the ambience of both the peace pagoda and Japanese Buddhist temple is good. Good architectural works inside the temple. Car parking are available. The atmosphere is also great around here. You would need to remove your shoe for the Japanese temple and peace Pagoda. I am reducing one star due to the un maintained restrooms that are available on parking, the Darjeeling tourism or the West Bengal tourism should take some effort to maintain the washrooms available there, it’s smelly and no proper water available, my wife informed the ladies washroom was not so hygiene and friendly. So folks if you need to attend your natural calls this is not a good place. Apart from there all other things are great 😊

The place has a calm presence amids the hustle and bustle of a congested town that Darjeeling has become. There's a prayer hall before the main temple. But of you're not into religious things, you might be somewhat bored. Garden around the temple area is well maintained.

Beautiful place. Really I have enjoyed the walking on Zakir Hussain road. One request with local authorities is, the rest room near by is maintained very badly. It's smelling till road.

Peaceful and picturesque place. Peace Pagoda nearby. Clear blue sky. Beautiful surroundings. History written on the board about the Japanese friend of Gandhi, an anti war activist who established the pagoda. Part of sightseeing in Darjeeling. Car parking area was adequate during my visit. But guess it will crowded in peak tourist season. Toilet available. No food joints. Won't take more than an hour to cover both peace Pagoda and Japanese temple.

A temple that was consecrated for peace by a Japanese Buddhist monk. A scenic, peaceful and calm place. Was fortunate to have visited during prayer hour and got to experience the sound and rhythm of the chanting and acoustic device (tennis bat like equipment). Well maintained. Add it to your itinerary.

It's within 15 mins of car ride from Ghoom.Created in 1810 by a Japanese architect, the Buddhist temple is one of the prime and must go places in Darjeeling. You can also find the Japanese temple here along with a beautiful garden.it's generally cool there and the view from the top of the temple is really amazing! 📿🗻 There are different versions of Buddha if one goes a 360 round of the temple. Also great sculptures around it.

The journey to this temple was beautiful and the temple is also very beautiful, calm and serene. It was worth taking the journey. So, peaceful inside. Not many tourists cover this place - but they should.

The word 'review' is not appropriate but experience is. During monsoon, the serenity reaches a mesmerizing level. Mist, peeking Sun, cumulonimbus cloud, all these variables make the experience more serene with own soulmate.

A pleasant surprise as I did not know this existed. Neat and clean and peaceful. It was built in 1972 and is known as the Nipponzah Myohoji Buddhist Temple. Ideal for those who want to spend some time in meditating

Very peaceful temple, you can visit upstairs and can do prayers with the priest. The priest of this place is very good, they teach us how to do prayers and correct us also. It's Dam peaceful inside. Some of the quotes written inside is very meaningful for daily life. This place is so calm and composed that that you can sit for hours.

Also known as Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple, the shrine was built in 1972 and is located 10 minutes away from the Darjeeling town centre, on the hill of Jalapahar. Showcasing classic Japanese style of architecture, this resplendent white building offers visitors a serene and quiet sanctum where they can meditate and seek inner peace.

I love this place because if u entered this place u are ordered to sit there at first in the melodious sound of drums and later you can also play that drum😁😁

Ah! What to say about that wonderful Japanese temple which located just a 10 minutes drive from the Darjeeling ‘Chowkbazar’ OR Darjeeling town. Just beside the temple, you can this Peace Pagoda which has four avatars of Lord Buddha. When reach to the top of this Pagoda, you can get the lovely panoramic view of Darjeeling. A completely breath taking cinematic landscape view of Kanchenjunga range. This Peace Pagoda was built during the year of 1972 having completely white in color and its tow storied. Whenever I have been into Darjeeling, I must visit to this temple along with this Peace Pagoda as well. Just to get the lovely panoramic view of Darjeeling! And if you get the lovely blue sky, then just imagine how good it would be to see the landscape of Darjeeling from the top.

Because of large number of tourists you may find the place a bit noisy sometimes but it is one of the best destinations of Darjeeling. The pagoda is really beautiful and you can see the entire life cycle of lord Buddha at the top. The famous Lalkothi is also nearby. In a nutshell it's worth a visit for sure 😀
