Spread across a vast expanse of breathtakingly tall Himalayan trees and exotic plants, this Botanical Garden is a phenomenal place for nature lovers. It's situated at a walking distance from the Darjeeling's Taxi Stand, downhill. By just paying an entrance fee of ₹20, you can treat yourself with some sensational natural wonders. This garden is not only about trees, but it's also about the hills. Yes, you would need to climb steep slopes inside this garden in order to reach it's multitudinous zones. If you run out of your breath, take a short break, by sitting down on one of the many benches. During my visit in the winter season, I was greeted with the sweet calls of various unknown himalayan birds and the enticing fragrance emanating from several unnamed flowering trees. There is a seperate orchidarium house, inside this garden too. I would recommend each and everyone, to pay a visit to this incredible place, while touring the beautiful hill station of Darjeeling. Recommended for everyone. 👍🏻🌳

The place is within the heart of the city..it's kind of off beat place to visit for the tourists because of the location and route. No public transport is available to go there. Interested persons have to go by walk and it's actually a long way to go at down hill to reach there. The variety of flowers and trees are great and this garden is there since British time. The place is very silent and peaceful. The place needs to be enriched with more flowers and needs to be maintained more frequently. Public rest room and direction arrows and whole map of the garden should be placed in multiple places for the visitors to have a clear idea.

Amazing place. It will give you a feeling of untouched forest. Hundreds of trees, herbs, succulents, flowers to see. Lots of birds, butterflies too. Totally uncrowded. You might not see more than a few locals. It's not a picnic place. Go there for a walk and enjoy the the terrain and the greenery. There are sign ways and benches in between. Be prepared to walk a lot uphill and downhill.

It's utterly free from people, lovely old trees, walking paths are clearly defined, yes, it does feels little lonely at first. But once you get used to it it's very soul comforting. There are plenty of guards around. So security is not an issue. However please take water and some food. The garden is huge and there are no shops within it. Not even a water dispenser. Do try to visit the conservatory and the hall where flower pots are kept. That place is awesome. The riot of color is something to see. Do have a look at the pictures.

Nice and very calm and quiet place. Huge species of Cactus, Sacculants, Orchids, Bonsai etc can be seen. Walking is little hard but those with interest in plants will really enjoy. But this time I felt very callousness of the staffs regarding maintenance of the internal roads and trees. Lots of trees are in dying condition due to lack of care.

What a beautiful place is this. Amazing location. One of the best place in Darjeeling to go. Botanic garden by itself really awesome. Also the scenery around there is mind blowing. Just look around it will give you a peace of mind. Normally it’s not really a crowded place. Definitely will go back again.

A must visit for botanist and nature lovers. Depending on the time of the year many flowers are blossomed here. Lovely orchid house and do note the massive wisteria planted in 1878 when the gardens were established by Mr. Lloyd. The place is almost deserted but a giant park with beautiful gardens. Nice place to click pictures and simple relax and stroll.

Not a properly maintained botanical garden. Way to visit is also very bad. But one may visit here to see pine species and some himalyan tree species.

One cannot believe that such a clean, quiet and lovely Garden is located so close to the city. I was here in December 2014. It was not the season to visit. Just going through the tourist points displayed in hotel reception I asked the Receptionist about its location. He said a 10 minutes walk downhill from Taxi stand. I got to know that it has three entrances from different directions. This place was not in our tour itinerary, but at around 3.30 PM when we finished our day touring various spots, I just strolled down alone to the Garden. Saw no crowd there. Few people moving leisurely. I spent about 1.30 hour at the place and enjoyed my walk. The place has high forest trees with scientific names posted, trimmed gardens, glass house with lot of flowers and orchids. I saw workers collecting leaves fallen on the ground to make organic compost fertilizers. A must visit for nature lovers. However the place needs to be maintained properly so that more visitors are attracted.

Very calm and beautiful place to come and visit. Mostly the lovebirds can be seen here minding their own business and I advice you to do so to keep the charm of this spot. This place is very strict against plastic wrapers and pet bottles. Be sure to use the dustbin provided. Flower and plant enthusiast will find this place very facinating.

Really awesome nature's beauty. However it seems the local authority is very indifferent about this, so no advertisement is there, even the entry to this garden is very simple and isolated. It's true gem to be explored.

Check this out when you’re in Darjeeling. By far the quietest place around and the old magnolia is worth the visit on its own but the orchid house and conservatories are wonderful too!

An awesome place to spend some lone time with friends or your loved ones. The scenic view opens up new avenue of thoughts, and more of a thinker in you. Along with some mind-blowing varieties of Orchids and other flowers, you'll also find fishes almost frozen in time, with subtle movements. Then you've small bridges made for little kids, who can count on their achievement of crossing one. The major attraction however comes with various cacti, which you won't forget for the rest of your life.

This is the reminiscence of colonial period. An effort made by Europeans to create physical recreation where they tried every possible way to create a garden what would be worth to buy a ticket. Never the less it is a place where you can enjoy abstract beauty of nature.

Unfortunately, the place is not very well maintained. If you want to have a quiet time in nice weather, this is the right place. The greenhouses are not worth a visit, but a few old trees are impressive.

If you love nature and are keen to look and learn about trees, orchids, cactus then you need look no further than Lloyd Botanical Garden. It is difficult to cover all 64acres in a single visit but follow the signage and walk through multitudinous eco zones to see ancient trees, spot rare birds, butterflies and consider yourself lucky to be breathing in fresh air. Accessing this gem is a little difficult as you have to walk downhill quite a bit through the local town and you also have to climb back up, you won't get taxis. But so worth the difficulty. So much to see, learn and take in.

Lloyd's Botanical Garden, or Darjeeling Botanical Garden, is a botanical garden in Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal. Lloyd's Botanical Garden was established in 1878 when 40 acres (160,000 m2) of land was acquired at Darjeeling to form a botanic garden as a distant annexe of the Calcutta Botanical Garden. The land was provided by William Lloyd, in whose name the botanical garden has been named.

Lloyd Botanic Garden (not Botanical Garden) was established in 1878 by the Britishers in the Darjeeling Himalaya. Really it is a heaven for the botanists and nature lovers as well. Vast array of plants some of them are old and rare and considered as assets of the garden are spreading down the lane. Anyone can enjoy the beauty of plants in green house particularly orchids and others. Some living fossil plants e.g. Ginkgo biloba are well maintained in this garden. Though the garden is not popular among the tourists due to lack of proper information but students of plant sciences must reach this place to gather knowledge and charm of the beautiful plant world. Botanists may enjoy rare and historical herbarium in this garden.

Lloyd's Botanical Garden was established in the year 1878 when 40 acres of land was acquired at Darjeeling to form a botanic garden as a distant annexe of the Kolkotta Botanical Garden. The land was provided by William Lloyd, in whose name the botanical garden has been named till now. Botanical garden is among the oldest botanical gardens in Darjeeling and also one of the popular tourist destination in Darjeeling. It is over an area of 40 acres and preserves some of the most exotic and endangered species of plants. It has several species of bamboo, oak, magnolia, arisaema, cotoneaster, wild geranium, and rhododendron. One will get to see the greenhouse or a conservatory here that houses 150 species of Cactus. Another great attraction here is the Orchiderium that has some 2,500 orchids on display and showcasing some 50 varieties. Another highlight of Botanical Garden is the pair of living fossils, which've been preserved here with utmost care. There is also a Rock Garden in the Lloyd's Botanical Garden of Darjeeling. The timings to enter the garden is from 6 AM in the morning to 5 PM in the evening.
