It's Beautiful & Peaceful Place 😍 I Love This Place...

Geden Tharpa Choling Monastery is as peaceful and serene as most monasteries in Himalayas. It's not far from Kalimpong main market. However, usually one would need to go by a car. What sets it apart is that it houses a museum that was established in 1922. It has preserved Tibetan coins and currency from early 20th century and even from late 19th century, many old artifacts like figurines, pots, clothes, shoes, manuscripts, photographs etc. It gives one a very interesting peek in the past. There is this room where three of Buddhist Dalai lamas have stayed (I hope, I got this fact right...though I am confused whether it was the Dharmguru or Dalai lama) ...

The monastery is a quiet place of prayer and worship almost with its premises almost hugging the military base in Kalimpong. Beautiful murals and figurines of the Buddha - past, present & future. The main attraction is the Tharpa Choling museum complete with ancient artifacts, priceless Tibetan treasures and historic photographs.

This place is truly mesmerizing and devoid of unnecessary tourist attraction. If you are really interested in spiritual experience, do attend their morning prayer and visit their less popular but rich museum.

Though not as popular as Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim, but as usual, it exudes peace allover your mind... Also it has a museum which contains remarkable things displaying inside... Some historical photographs will make goosebumps... I loved this place... Want to go there again!

Another beautiful monastery in Kalimpong. This is a Must visit as well. We could not go inside as it was closed that day and hour, but the outside view is so tremendously beautiful and awestruck us that we sat there for the view and amazingly peaceful vibrations. Visiting monasteries have become my favourite thing post these two (Durpin) monasteries visit. The beauty of this monastery is the huge Buddha statue in Gold facing the city. It's amazing. There is also a museum in the premises.

The most beautiful monastery in Kalimpong. What makes it more appealing, is the Buddha statue with a panoramic view of the city in the background. The building is beautifully designed and painted with many manuscripts stored inside. The Lama took us to the next building which houses a museum having ancient artifacts and relics. We went around 1 pm and it was about to be closed, so you should check the timing. A Must visit.

Lovely Buddhist monastery. Intricate artwork and paintings inside. No entry fee and photography allowed inside. Monks inside are helpful in narrating the history of the monastery

A holy place for the Buddhist surrounded by beautiful atmosphere; a pleasant garden inside the area and mountains around this place create a mind blowing situation to the people. After entering gate of the Buddhists temple, statues of Lord Buddha and his followers who were kings of the Royal Bhutan are placed side side and beautiful paintings on wall of the room may create a nostalgia to the pilgrims. Darkness of mind may vanish for the time.
