3 star because of the waiting staff. Tend to go on a Friday night.Food always good but this Saturday was kind of rushed and the nan bread was very doughy. The waiter got the drinks order wrong. Main courses were all ultra spicy(ordered mild apart from 1). I did enjoy mine but the rest of the group could barely eat theirs. Did not get starters and main courses at the same time as we usually do.Eventually we got a very confusing bill and the waiter said something like if we pay cash is one amount and if card a bit more?! We paid and he followed us to the door saying “the service charge not included “. If you are going to beg for tips you’re not going to get any. It has happened before at Akbars. The waiting staff needs serious retraining. Customer service at this place is non existent. Avoid Saturday night

Food here was amazing. Huge nan was lovely. Curry is amazing. Service was fantastic. We had the specials and they were tasty and meaty. Drinks are reasonable priced, so is the food. Busy spot. Will definitely come again.

Love this place. It's the second time I am coming ans this place never fails on impressing us. I went to eat iftari with my daughter and had to wait outside as the tables were full. But the lovely staff managed to make space for us before iftari time and the food came of time. The staff went above and beyond our expectations. Hands off 🙌 to Akhbar's manager, who made sure we had our food on time and took care of my daughter's food preferences, as she is a very fussy eater. I was expecting to have a delay on our meals due to how busy was the place, but surprisingly everything came on time. Will definitely come back on eid, but this time I will make sure to book the table ahead of time. This place had the best Piña Colada I have ever had, and the chicken nimbali was to die for. Chicken chaska was also a lovely addition to the menu, it tasted exactly like homemade Spicy curry. Definitely worth the wait. Thanks again for all the staff and manager of Akhbar's for going above and beyond, and making our iftari a very special one

The ambience, service and food were all good. The portion were decent keeping in mind the hike in prices. The starter of lamb chops, chicken wings, seekh kebab and masala fish were all tasty and flavoursome. Keep in mind there is no mixed grill however you can ask them to serve the starter you choose in hotplate. The main was shinwari karahi, chicken biryani and charsi chicken. As I have eaten original of these dishes so to me they were ok. However if you have not had one before then they are really good. The service was excellent and will recommend anyone to go to akbar as it is one of the best authentic Pakistani cuisine.

Food was amazing but service was bad. They forgot the drinks at the start, one of my friend's starters and my main. We had to ask 3 times for the dessert menu.

Lovely food and a great place to eat! Always excellent food. Update October 2023: no longer serves alcohol but the food is still great. Can sometimes be a wait to get all the dishes served for large tables (10-12 or more) but this is unfortunately normal for most places.

Akbars cafe moved to Akbars restaurant but dnt sell alcohol or allow it, which is great. Abit of wait for it as it was extremely busy but was worth it. The chicken steak and lamb steak were delicious, well charcoaled, flavoursome and had the Asian spice. Ie went nice spiced but not too spicy, well. Balanced. The pasta is always a bonus, again tasted fresh. I was stuffed with that meal but normally there meat chops are delicious too. Pina colada and rhe strawberry daqari were on point. Defo recommend for steak lovers. Take card and cash.

We haven't been to Akbars for a long time but decided to go for our anniversary. Service from start to finish was exceptional. Sadly, we didn't take his name but it was a young man from Pakistan who started recently. Hubby really liked his service, so he wanted to tip him extra. He recommended the Chicken Charsi dish and we really enjoyed it. For starters we had the fish pakoras and chicken wings which we enjoyed alot. For mains we had biryani chciken charsi and naan which we also really enjoyed. We will visit again 😁

Was reluctant due to reading some recent reviews but found it exceptional. Remember key to get service is to speak up and ask what you want. If find anything is lacking mention it straight away as we did and they happily 😁 addressed it Highly recommended!!!!

Best karahi ever!!! I will start with the mouthwatering meat chops, they were very well seasoned and very tender probably one of the best chops I had. Lamb Charsi karahi has to be the winner, definitely have to try it, probably the best karahi I ever had . First time tried spinach chicken balti and it was amazing too. Akbars never disappoint!!! Definitely try the lamb charsi next time when you go ..

We attended Akbar's Restaurant around 17:55 on Sunday 09/07/23. As soon as we entered were greeted instantly, the lady was professional and informative she did advise they have stopped selling alcohol (I didn’t even know they sold it I would have left if they did sorry but personal preference). It was quite busy so this must be popular establishment. We were given a table for 2 but this was quite close to the entrance and little privacy and besides us 2 lady’s were given the same type of table and they requested a more private sitting which staff did honour there requests, so I asked the gentlemen (I assume he was the manager) if we could get a larger/private table, he did state that he could put the table the ladies left together with ours to make it bigger but we wanted something private, we did notice a table that was getting cleaned but they didn’t give us that an showed us a table further in the restaurant (same size as the one given previously) but it was close to the kitchen and stairs as it was better than the first option we took this option. Once seated we realised the table was wobbly and every time someone walk past (mainly staff) as the floor board were slightly sunk due year of staff walking past it would shake our table so we have to be careful with drinks and the family naan as it would feel like they would topple over. Also, the music was really loud in the establishment or we were seated in close proximity of a speaker. There were a lot of waiters and they did ask if we were ready to order. We ordered: 1 x Veg Samosa Chaat 1 x Keema Cheese Samosa 1 x Spicy Chips 1 x Pilau Rice 1 x Chicken & Chilli Balti 1 x Family Naan (the really big one on hook) 2 x Harrogate bottles of water Total = £39.75 I thought the total would be around £45 so price wise they are okay. Starter took around 6-8 minutes to arrive which I thought was fast and the Mrs loved the samosa chaat and the keema cheese samosa was amazing! Spicy were okay I was expecting more spice but nothing major complain about, I did have to call over the waiter to ask for our main to come as I didn’t want to finish my starters and wait for long time to get the mains, my Mrs stated she didn't like the pilau rice (she is very picky with rice) so we didn't eat that, the chicken & chilli balti was really good also but our family naan was burnt quite a bit (I compared to naans given to other patrons). Our waiter was very nice and helpful (I only tipped due to the service he gave) when paying you are given an option to give tip, they are not pushy on this (which is plus) the waiters carry with the tasks until you have paid or call them over. We did ask for food to be prepared in take out boxes and to my surprise the waiter came with take put boxes, lids and bag for the naan – I did mention this to my Mrs but she stated other people had to pack there food away then later on I saw another couple do the same, not impressed with this method I understand this is self service (this assists staff with less work) but the last thing I expect in half decent restaurant it getting my hands dirty (after cleaning them) to pack my food away, especially on table so small, would not have been a big issue if the table was larger! Also, the toilets were really clean and they have lolta in the men's restroom (but the ladies restroom doesn't - Mrs advised me) unique wash basins. One plus is they have there own parking across the restaurant, I confirmed with the manager both parking lots our for Akbar’s Restaurant. I don’t think they have prayer room but I do think they would benefit from this. Food 3.8 stars Seating, Service and Atmosphere 3.5 stars Price Wise 4.4 stars Overall 4 stars. I would only recommend my family and friends to come here on less busy periods, I personally believe if we attended on less busy period the overall experience would be much better.

A busy place with ok food. The decor has been upgraded which was well past it's due by date and the service was very good during our most recent visit. It used to be quite dark inside but thankfully all has been lit up now. I marked the food down because the dish lacked flavour. The costs are very reasonable too unlike some others I could name nearby!

This is the best My Lohore even if it is takeaway! Food was the best I’ve had in any of the branches! The manager even served the food on plates as I’d came a long way and the restaurant was over a two hour wait! Highly recommended!

Nice but we weren't wowed by the starters. We got lamb chops and chapli kebab. Have had better. The curry was very nice though and drinks and dessert were also good.

It's OK.... I am looking at 7 key areas (for me anyway!). Hope this helps you when reading the review - 1. Welcome - we had made a group dinner reservation this evening and arrived on time. The table was not ready and we had to wait a few minutes which was fine. Note - It is worth booking a table especially on a Saturday evening as the restaurant is very busy. Staff were OK and not too welcoming or friendly. 2. Ambience - busy with family groups and couples. (When you walk in see if you can be seated on the left side, I think it's nicer.) It is nice that they have windows and natural light coming in. Can't really hear the background music if you like background music. 3. Staff knowledge - helpful and accommodating. We requested a curry that was not on the menu and they were happy to make it. The waiter was quite pushy with promoting the special - Shinwari Ghost (lamb) but could not really explain what the dish actually was. 4. Food taste - starters were nice - chicken wings, sheekh kebabs were well cooked, not too dry and had balanced flavours. Chicken tikka was very good but the lamb chops were ok, not amazing. Overall the flavours and "spice" levels were good. Mains were OK.... The Balti Tarka Dhal was quite dry and just made of split chickpeas (chana dal). Other restaurants normally mix in other lentils and make this type of dhal a bit more sauce. We tried the special as the Waiter kept pushing it and it was underwhelming to be honest more like a simple lamb stir fry with little flavour and not really a curry. 5. Service - helpful but a bit functional. Waiter could not understand spoken English that well so my Wife spoke to him in Hindi. Main dishes were served with no serving spoons. 6. Wait times for food & drinks - good as the service was speedy even though they were busy. 7. Value for money - similar prices to London e.g. £4.50 for a small bottle of Cobra and £13 for what was meant to be a half portion of the "special". So not great but no service charge was applied as well.

Beautiful food, we drove 40 mins for a birthday meal with family and heard great things from family members that had been before. Definitely lived up to that as it was gorgeous. Portions are huge, food is cooked to perfection, piping hot. Would recommend to anyone.

Food was good even though it was busy on Christmas day! However with it being a group of q9 we would have preferred seating in one long table as opposed to a split table between our group. Its understandable maybe due to lack of space at a busy period. But food was good as expected

Professional, prompt and friendly. Received excellent service during a busy Friday night. (The owner of Akbar’s was also present). Staff were nice and waiter was very attentive. Food was delicious too. If only the level of professionalism, organisation and fresh food was carried through to the Akbar’s cafe. That place gave me sickness and a headache at the end of the night… I will definitely be returning to the Akbar’s restaurant 👍🏼
