Quaint village in the south lakes, nice pubs and places to eat. The race course it in keeping with its surroundings. I visited on an agriculture day where there was plenty to see and do. Some good local beer on offer. Lots of stalls selling excellent local produce. Worth a visit.

Not just a day at the races it's the village fair too. The pubs cafés and quirky shops all join in to help make the day one to remember. Fantastic but unusual set up on course makes for a unique racing experience. Hopefully I'll be making another visit next year.

What a lovely racecourse, right by the village of Cartmel, its barely a few minutes stroll between each. Surrounded by countryside, the racecourse is quite unique with the track running around the outside of the spectators, who are in the middle. Some longer races will see horses run around parts of the track 3 times before turning into the finishing straight that cuts across the middle. Certainly a country track, that is rural, friendly and fun. Gets very busy on certain events so book ahead and arrive early. Follow signage by car as roads are narrow and some may be one way for events there. There is not a lot of shelter here so if the weather turns be prepared with coats and umbrellas to hand!!

What a fantastic track and atmosphere. We walked from cark on the high path above the road and it was a lovely 30 minute stroll. Everyone walking with dogs or alcohol or both. They are so welcoming and you stroll in pitch your tent or whatever plonk your seats and windbreak or as we did drop our bags and find some free seats. If you are early enough and you've paid the extra £2 there are some picnic tables that don't cost. The ones by the track are quite pricey but if you buy in advance and there are a few of you it's not bad as you have brought your own drink and food. Failing that behind the teepees are some tables that are free, not many and they go quick. The fun fair is huge and the carnival inside the course is pretty good too. Driving is easy but don't expect a quick getaway. It's reasonable but expect 20 mins

A fun time, quite busy people-wise. Expensive food & beer, but it's what I expected it to be. It seemed safe in a security sense. They encourage you to bring your own beer and food, which I should have done in hindsight. It's impossible to get a seat/bench as they have all been pre-booked. You'd have to get there early to get a good standing position or bring your own chairs.

A brill day out.!! Highly recommended. We were blessed with good weather which made all the difference. Quite busy in some areas but plenty of space to move/walk around. Easy to place bets with many bookies to choose from and loads of space to veiw the races. Food and drink is available. Fair rides on the area to keep entertained. But be prepared to pay a fiver for a pint or a hotdog. Easy to get to cartmel with plenty of signs and carpark is free. End of the day it's going to cost you like anywhere else,.. I spent around 100quid which covered entry fee, a couple of pints, a hotdog, fairground ride, and bets on each race. Certainly going next year... To win my money back.!!

Loved it really family friendly with a fair for the kids. Food and drink wasn't extortionate but most families had picnics which is encouraged. Kids also go free which is a bonus! Really recommend for a fun day out.
