I'm not reviewing the b&b aspect of St Ethelwold's; in any case it's first and foremost a spiritual centre. However I would love to comment on the fact that they welcome passersby, allowing them to wander in freely and take advantage of the beautiful gardens, which go right down to the Thames. There are picnic tables beneath the trees and a box near the exit for donations, should you feel inclined.

People I know who stayed there have been most impressed. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and most welcoming. Rooms are very good value for what they are, and worth booking in advance so as not to be disappointed. Staff are lovely to deal with too.

Beautiful, well tended gardens and a historic building. Very peaceful and calm, quiet and relaxing. Feels like a country retreat and it's quite a shock when you walk out the gate to find yourself right in the middle of town

We sat in the glorious gardens one sunny morning and it is so peaceful and tranquil, you would forget that you are in a town. Just a lovely place to rest and unwind from everything.

Beautiful and welcoming. Good for BandB, sitting by the river, classes and groups with a spiritual and interfaith and local community building emphasis.

This is used for all sorts of local events and has a lovely garden leading down to the Thames. I can't say what it's like as B&B, but it is a delightful old building.

There was an old man who surprised me with his kindness and hospitality as we were passing by to let us enjoy his beautiful house for free. I’ll spend a night there soon.

(Not about the B&B) The garden is absolutely delightful. We’ll tended and full of beautiful flowers and plants, right on the Thames. It’s a nice place to have a picnic or chalk with friends. There are a few rooms you can go in to sit and watch the river go by, so you can even come when it’s raining and still enjoy the garden. They had a few plants for sale at the front. And there’s the sanctuary you can visit as well.

Haven’t actually stayed here, however have visited the gardens several times. Absolutely stunning beauty.
