Coffee with a friend. Could have been a bit warmer which it normally is. Nice service and staff

Asked for toast well done. It wasn't. The sausage was left over from the morning. Milk had black bits of god knows what in it. So not impressed at all.

Visited Brighouse Merrie England. After 50 years of going for coffee and food, we won't be going back. They have the most horrendous in your face artwork on display, which spoils the traditional atmosphere of the coffee shop. Make up your mind whether you are a coffee shop or an Art Gallary. Thank goodness Halifax have windows and not walls!

Ordered two teas and a small slice of bakewell tart with nuts. Charged £3.35 for the cake., which I believe is outrageous. There are no prices on any of the cakes, so I can imagine the shock that people will experience when served at the counter. Many too embarassed to ask for the cake to be discounted from the bill. Staff here are always excellent. It is the price setter who needs to rethink the pricing in the branches.

Today me and my friend made our regular visit. One of many over 30+ years. I ordered a beef and onion sandwich but sadly the tea cake was stale and the beef was lacking. When I spoke to the manager she was certainly not customer focused. In fact she was so rude we will never visit again snd neither will my family and friends. Such a shame after all my years of loyalty. Never experienced such unprofessional behaviour before.

Got a bacon sandwich, the lady that served me said that the bacon was well done, is that ok, when I started eating it it was that tough I threw it in the bin. It was probably cooked over an hour before I got it and kept warm. She should have took a decision to throw it all away. I will never go there again. I always try and help little businesses and stay away from the larger franchises

The best salmon sarnies around. Shame they stopped doing the milky coffee though, latte is just not the same.

The flat white with oat milk is amaze balls and they always try and put a fancy picture on my coffee :-D The staff are always helpful even though the cafe is manic. Do I get a free coffee for putting this review now? Ha ha ha :-D

Come on Merrie England, pull your socks up! I have long been a customer of ME and love their sandwiches /cakes. Today, morning, I can't say that. I order a bacon sandwich and a piece of Simmnol cake. The bacon was cold and tasted as if it had been reheated from the day before. Customers can tell when food is reheated. The Simmnol cake tasted like it was old and was past its sell-by date. Cakes at the ME are usually nice. I don't know what happened here today.

Teacake abs stuffed with hot beef, onions and gravy. So much filling it needed to be eaten with a knife & fork. Didn't realise the onions would be raw & had to take most of them out as too strong for me. Finished off with a vanilla square. Everything delicious. Toilet very clean!

Always a lovely pleasant experience The coffee & food are consistently excellent, approximately a dozen indoor tables and half dozen outside at the back if your a smoker. There is also toilets with baby changing facilities. It not cheap but a nice treat, expect to pay around £10 a head for coffee, sandwich & a bun. It's my go to place with a friend as I know it won't disappointment 😋

Familiar favourites available. I had tea for two and a slice of apple pie. Although tasty in parts - had it been defrosted? Hopefully, next time the recipe will be my old favourite. Look forward to trying it again soon.

Food was nice. Bit of a wind tunnel with the front and back doors open.

Visit Merry England coffee shop in Brighouse on a weekly basis. It can be busy around lunch but I tend to visit around 2pm-2:30pm and the rush has usually eased off. 🥪🥗🍰☕🫖🧃

Just leaving Brighouse after 10 weeks here and I smile every time I pass this Cafe on my way to Gregg's next door thinking about how much money they lost for the sake of one cup of coffee. Lol!!!

Not so merry England... Had the worst food in here when I went the other week. I ordered a toastie and got brought the wrong one, when we mentioned it, they just laughed .. when the right one then arrived it was literally like slop. I've never had anything like it. We asked for coke and got some nock off weird cola, and didn't get offered sauce for my partners breakfast sandwich. Staff kept walking past and didn't check on us once. They were too busy chatting, and smashing plates. (There were 3 customers in and around 5 staff members)..if they'd have cleared the table or asked how things were we could have told them but they didn't seem to care.

Ordered the full English, not great. Very dry and no flavour also the bap wasn't even buttered. Looking back they also missed off our mushrooms after we paid extra for them wouldnt return, however the custard slice was gorgeous

I've been to this cafe a handful of times and usually only order a coffee, which is always good by the way, but today I ordered a bacon and sausage sandwich and it's perhaps the worst sandwich I've had in my time in Brighouse. But the main reason I've given the cafe a 1 star review instead of 2/3 is because of the way they dealt with it. The person behind the counter just shrugged and said sorry, and when you're providing food like that for the prices they're charging, I expect better. I wish I had read some of the reviews below before I had ordered food. By all means go here for a coffee, but don't go near the hot food; it's appalling.
