If 10 stars would be possible, they will get it. Amazing experience, we enjoy a family day out on a cold December day. A lot of technology to send us back in time to be connected with the history. Kids enjoyed walking around and enjoyed getting in the plane simulator. There are lots of options to enjoy a snack , a coffee or why not your own food. The souvenir store is really nice too. The parking is big, and also having an outside playground for kids, of course useful for hot days :). It is an outside exhibition, but today was cold to walk around. A big thank you ❤️

What a fantastic place! The museum really is a great day out with superb displays and interactive activities. Disabled parking is around 40 metres from the Visitor Centre but being spread over a large area there is a lot of walking. In regards to accessibility by wheelchair or mobility scooter the museum is very well setup. Apart from the obvious difficulties of getting into aircraft if wheelchair bound you are still able to get up close and personal with the displays. The info boards are great and interactive and at an accessible height. The lift up to the viewing area is not for the faint hearted but totally accessible for all and well worth the wait for the lift if it's busy. The staff were very helpful and offered assistance if required. Disabled toilet facilities are spread around the site and were clean and setup well for wheelchair users. All for the cost of parking at the museum, superb.

Visited with my partner and 4 month old. I can’t say I know much about aircraft but my partner is an engineer so he appreciates that side of things. As a family day out, it was something nice to do. Entry is free, and the parking was £5, all prebooked and paid for online so when we turned up, everything was sorted. As we visited in January, it was really quiet but that meant that we could take our time going round and taking pictures with the baby. There was plenty of space for the pram to get round and baby change facilities in every hanger which I was impressed with. We did use the changing room in the last hanger and what was nice was that the room wasn’t cold, which I’ve had problems with at other venues, as the baby gets quite upset otherwise. Even though he’s only 4 months old, he seemed to quite enjoy looking at all the planes.

It's amazing that it is free to enter. Brilliant place of you're into planes and the history of wars etc. There is so much to see. I liked how it was a one way system so you can't get lost and don't miss anything. Lots of knowledgeable people around with amazing stories about the planes and tanks. Will be going back again when the kids go back to school. Speaking of kids, There is a nice play park there for them to play on while your having a cuppa from the cafe.

Such a interesting day great for all families or couples theirs something for everyone. From the very start off our trip we took my 86 year old dad,I think he could remember all the planes even the tiger moths going back yo the second world .the car park is cheaper if you book on line👍you just validate your ticket inside the entrance that's it the museum is actually free to get in their are three large halls to go round it will take you quite a bit of time there are some planes out side and you can walk through them but not the day we went.the cafe was surprisingly good fresh tasty sandwiches. We had a very surprisingly and interesting day the ground crew are helpful 👏👏👏

Really good morning out. The red arrow experience was great and my daughter loved it. The history is extremely well preserved and you can appreciate the time and effort that has gone into the museum, while contemplating those who fought. The museum is free but there are various donations points located. There is a lift if needed. Toilets were clean and there is somewhere to eat on the lower floor. Overall great experience.

Really good day out. They have amazing exhibits of air travel history. All indoors and beautifully displayed with loads of information about each exhibit. They have a well equipped cafeteria where you can purchase coffee and snacks at a reasonable price. It is free to visit, but you will need to book a slot, you can stay as long as you want but like I've said you do need to book a time slot for when you'd like to visit. There is loads of parking for £7 if you book in advance, a little bit more if you pay on arrival. Note that there is nowhere to park locally. Unless you fancy a very very long walk. You absolutely will need to park at the museum.

Absolutely loved this ace and will definitely be returning, we have probably missed loads. It is like a giant jigsaw puzzle with so much military hardware it is difficult to describe it fairly. AND IT IS FREE The only cost is car parking so four of us were admitted for just £6.50 in total (if you book online). Recommend 100% Best museum outside the big cities for sure.

Our expectations were quite low but there was loads to see and the play park was the best one I've seen for a 2 year old with really cool themed climbing frames. We had about 90 minutes there which was a good amount of time for a toddler's attention span, we thought we could easily spend most of a day there if we actually read all the information boards and so on. It was free apart from parking but the place runs off donations so these are encouraged.

First visited about 15 years ago, and it was a great day out then. Returned for another visit, and there is an additional building housing numerous aeroplanes (some hanging from the roof) and tanks- a fantastic addition that’s well thought out. Very easy to navigate round; no issue for wheelchairs or pushchairs with lift for access to lower level. Play area at the front. Plenty of parking. Can’t believe it’s free. Had a great day- educational for me, and Dad loved it as housed the planes he grew up with. Just wished it was closer!

Lovely place to visit with plenty to do. Amazing planes and all kept very well with lots of information. Would highly recommend for individuals and families, has a place to eat and an outdoor play area. Parking is good and the site is easy access

I can't believe this place is free admission, I've paid, for alot less. This place is absolutely huge, in multiple hangers. There are so many aircraft on display vehicles and tanks, this place has it all. The new hanger is stunning highlight of the museum, with viewing platforms at different levels. Huge shop and cafe on site only expense of the day was the car park which I completely do not grudge paying for after free admission. Do pay for car park online it's cheaper. Also a 4d theatre show for a small price.

Absolutely amazed at how much I enjoyed this museum, the collection is fantastic and presented really well. We also booked the Typhoon Simulator, Spitfire VR experience (which is awesome!) and the Red Arrows 4D theatre which weren't expensive at all. The museum itself is free which in today's climate is surprising but fantastic as there are plenty for kids to see and do! Well worth a visit and the museum is a credit to the staff and volunteers!

The best museum within 100 miles of our home by a long way and all for the price of a £6.50 car parking fee (if booked online). Otherwise, free to enter. They do accept but don't demand donations. You get three "warehouses" absolutely chocker with military hardware, 90% flying machines, but the cold war hangar also has missiles/tanks etc. It is an amazing jigsaw of a place and that is without the Visitor Centre that contains all types of information about the museum itself. Could take all day and still not see everything. We will definitely be returning to check out the areas we missed as we were on a bit of a timetable this time around. Fabulous place. 100% recommended.

This would win anyone over who normally is not normally a museum goer. Super day out at what must be quite a unique museum. So much to see and learn about the development and history of the various types of aircraft. Plenty of hands on for kids of all ages. Wide openly spaced so plenty of room to get around, and for disabled access. Highly recommended.

Visited in August 2019, on the way to North Wales. I wanted to have a longer break, so popped in to this museum. It is a huge site and very interesting. I mean for those who like planes, history and a lot of activity with interactive games. There is a lot to see and learn, and definitely can spend there a half day or so. Kids and Dads particularly enjoyed themselves, but I've seen Mums, couples, singles, too as well as veterans. It has huge parking, but pay and display, so better to bear it in mind. Shops, cafe, restaurant, toilets in every building, 4D experience, which I tried myself, too, flight simulator, VR experience, and also some planes are available to sit in and touch, take pictures; so it is really fun to spend some time there, as well as useful for those are interested to learn new things about history. Definitely a place which is a perfect day out, and worth to visit.

Excellent museum, wonderful collection of aircraft well worth a visit. Restaurant serves great fresh food and good selection. There is a good outdoor playpark for children too . Although the museum is free to enter you will need to purchase the parking £5 and make a donation to the great work they do there is optional. You are required to book a slot to visit.

Excellent place to visit, really interesting with very knowledgeable staff. The exhibitions were excellent and so interesting. Lots of places to sit if walking is a problem, everything is very accessible. Cafe was good, food was lovely, we had the pizzas and about the normal price range you would expect at a museum. Would highly recommend.

Very nice place to visit and good thing it's that Entry is free only you have to pay for Parking Ticket if you book online the Parking Ticket is £6.50 otherwise is £7.50. Better to book online and select the entry slot make sure when you buy online on your arrival scan you bar code at the visitor table so your parking ticket got valid. Good place for kids a lot of history information also a lot of information about planes. The Virtual Parachute, 4D Cinema and other stuff you have to pay separately.

This place is well worth a visit - 4 massive hangars house the various displays, along with numerous aircraft located outside around the hangars. One of the hangars was closed on the day of my visit, but there is so much to see and do that this did not spoil my visit. If you are interested in aircraft, this museum should be on your list - the displays are well laid out, lots of info boards, and the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. There are things to keep the kids interested too. Five stars.

Fab experience, place should not be free entry. Car park fee does not cover what the experience is worth. I was more than Happy to leave a donation! It is immaculately clean. Friendly and helpful staff members an added bonus. Will definitely be returning again.

Visited Cosford royal air museum yesterday. What a fantastic day. Clear direction into the museum grounds and plenty of parking. There's free entry into the museum which hardly looks like a traditional museum.... We were cheerfully greeted by helpful staff and clear directions given. I was in my element.... surrounded by planes and history....Spitfire and Chinook...what more can a girl ask for .... Reading some of the information...was very moving...I won't forget some of the lucky charms and the stories attached to them ... ...a fantastic day and will be returning soon

Fantastic way to spend a morning or afternoon. Took two kids who both enjoyed the exhibitions and history on offer. Free entry with a £5 charge for parking, optional points around for those that wish to donate more. There were three main exhibitions indoors, aircraft outside as well. Noticed a few cafe's dotted around and ample picnic benches. There are still some sections off limits at the moment. Also it's booking time slots only at the time of this review.

Really enjoyed my visit here. Wasn’t sure what to expect other than the obvious planes. However the social history at each section was an added bonus. Very cleverly laid out within glass viewing panels. Explanations about many of the world’s conflicts (which as a child and teenager I didn’t fully grasp). The only area for improvement would be the food options at the cafe, I think that could be far better. The staff are lovely and friendly and made the visit pleasant.

Absolutely fantastic place to visit. Entry is free so no need to buy tickets but may be worth booking if going ad a large group or school. The hangers are amazing with so much to see. There is lots of interactive exhibits and even a couple of flight simulators. The history and information of the engineering behind these plans is wonderful and the staff are so helpful and engaging. They offer chances for you to sit in a cockpit and dress as a pilot too. The gift shop is lovely and very reasonably priced and the cafe offers delicious coffee and sandwiches but is slightly on the pricey side.

Excellent range of exhibits, laid out so you can get up close. All the staff and volunteers were super helpful and friendly. Great to see hands on learning taking place with local schools. Coffee shop facilities on site. We noticed a number of exhibits haven't had their details updated since 2006. Would be good to know if the exhibits are still in service today. Free of charge to visit but plenty of opportunities to make a donation to help support this fabulous museum. £5 to park. You currently need to book a timed slot online before visiting

Very interesting and amazing to see all of the planes, tanks, bombs etc. Really informative. Also a lovely park for the kids. Free entry, £5 parking. Additional paid activities that you don't have to join in with and they don't push the activities. They are there if you want to though, £5 each for a passport to do the activities

This was a great day out for the whole family! We really enjoyed seeing all the planes, helicopters and tanks upclose. We loved being able to get into a cockpit and experience that, what a treat! There is also other activities to enjoy that you can pay for should you wish, and considering you don't have to pay to get into the museum they are a must! All the staff were so friendly and all air-hangers were extremely well looked after, and sparkling clean! We unfortunately didn't get to go on the air crafts outside but just seeing them was brilliant. So much to see took us 2 and half hours to visit all 3 hangers. Great day had by us all.

You won't find many places offering so much for free entry. Aircraft and vehicles from the first world war to the cold war era. Interesting and informative throughout. 4D cinema was okay, souvenir plush toys were excellent quality and decent prices. Everything you spend is helping to keep the place running and nothing seems overpriced. (Maybe food prices are steep but it's all optional). I would highly recommend a day out here for kids and adults. Learn some history, see the aircraft up close and in person. Be amazed at how much skill is needed to design, engineer and pilot these things. The courage of RAF service men and women throughout the wars. Stories of heroic actions, sacrifice and bravery that will never be forgotten. Nowadays we have people who complain about being misgendered, get anxiety issues, protest anything that doesn't go their way or suit them. The generation of warriors who fought for us in the past are inspirational and outstanding. Today's trip reminded me of why we should be proud to be British

Definitely worth a visit - the museum is made up of several large hangers, and plenty of ex-RAF aircraft of all ages, as well as other equipment (engines, uniforms etc) and aircraft from other countries. Larger aircraft are outside - it is worth noting that it wasn't possible to go inside any aircraft, although I believe some are opened up on occasion. Everything looks in great condition and well looked after Entry itself is free, but be aware car parking is a bit steep at £7.50 per vehicle (so car pooling is a must if a group of you is visiting) - if you book online you get £1 off. The guide book is also much cheaper if pre-booked Facilities wise, the cafe is about what you'd expect for most attractions (a little more expensive than the high street but not too bad) and it is pretty big, taking up the whole front of the visitor centre. All very clean There's also a smaller coffee stand in the cold war hanger with a Costa express machine. The only toilets I used were those in the visitor centre, and I have to say they were a bit cramped - and there appears to be only one shared baby change/disabled toilet, which was occupied both times I tried using it, so I had to sort out my daughter in the gents - which was a challenge.... All very clean though The playground was a big hit with my daughter, and was very busy by lunchtime! Well maintained and with plenty of equipment, its definitely a winner Overall, definitely worth a visit - I'll probably return on my own at some point to look around properly without a toddler in tow!

This is a very cool interactive museum where you should commit to spending at least half a day. I'm no expert in aircraft or history, but I was fascinated by the variety of fleet I had never seen before. I suggest you visit regardless of age or knowledge. The volunteers here are passionate about RAF and very friendly. In terms of facilities, there is plenty of parking available, you have to pay for it but the entry is free. The place is well looked after, public restrooms are clean, you can order a decent coffee at the cafe, the hangars are heated. This was my second visit and will definitely come again!

Absolutely brilliant day out for all the family. The 4D experience of the Red Arrows and the Ravine Racer was fab. The almost 5 Year old with us loved it, as did we all actually. Loads to look at and most of it is free. Just pay for the rides/simulators. I'm sure we'll come back at some point too. Thanks to all the lovely staff that made our visit so enjoyable today. It also has a great RAF themed playground for the little ones too.

We did horrible histories up in the air adventure. with the grandchildren. Very good wholesome family fun, although our 12 Yr old found it a bit young for her. However! She loved the rest of the museum. Fantastic planes, tanks, helicopters, missiles etc. Very helpful knowledgeable staff too. Plenty of toilets around the site, all nice n clean. A very Happy family ! Highly recommend, just be aware parking is £7.50. Bit steep for a square of tarmac

Lots of cool planes to see and a few tanks for good measure, some very interesting facts learned today by myself and my son. He works for Rolls Royce so it was nice to see some of the engines he plays a part in making. It's very interesting to see the evolution of the plane from the earliest to some of the more current along with the history and stories of conflict of the RAF. Thoroughly enjoyable vist 🙂

It's a great museum, with a great view of the RAF base. It was a quiet place, with very few people there, with a large variety of planes. I would definitely recommend it if you are into planes and how they work as you can learn lots. Entry is free, but donations are gladly accepted.

  • 5/5 Prasoon K. 7 months ago on Google
Worth visiting to see historic fighter planes from WWI, WWII & Cold War. Entry is free but you need to book slots online in advance. Onsite parking is available but paid. Would recommend paying for parking online while making the booking, that will save you a pound. There are few small rides which are also paid and should be booked in advance. Though the museum is open until 5 pm but small paid rides close by 3:30 pm, so plan accordingly. There is a small kids play area and outside seating available to enjoy the sun after visiting all the hangers ☺️ Hope it was helpful!

  • 5/5 Chris R. 7 months ago on Google
Absolutely brilliant even though there was only partial access to the Cold War hanger due to dangerous condensation on the floor. The guide who showed us as much as he could from the gantry was really knowledgeable . The rest of the museum wasn't affected by this and is full of planes (some that are extremely rare) and all sorts of memorabilia that gives a,real insight into all aspects of the RAF which you can view at your own pace. There are also multiple simulators available for roughly £5 a go. I bought our tickets on line as didn't want to be turned away and received a discount on parking charges The exhibition itself is completely free which I thought was amazing as that is really unusual now. We did however donate money on one of the donation points plus bought some stuff at the shop and a guide book so we did put some money into the coffers.

So impressed. Apart from the £7.50 car park fee, it's free! And it's a day event too. Absolutely loved it. I was sad to see the SEPECAT Jaguar - Survivor XX765 ACT with no information and looking sad outside as though it's waiting for the scrapyard...

  • 5/5 Andrew C. 1 year ago on Google
A very important and significant place for all. So many aircraft, preserved in full livery, with displays and interactive presentations to really educate and inform the generations about the role of the RAF in both peacetime and war. Ample parking, ensure this is paid for please- although it is a free attraction, ensure that you 'check in' at the main visitor centre prior to moving around the hangars. Ample toilet facilities are available, and superb access across the whole site for those with additional requirements and needs. There's a cafe serving good quality food and drinks, with ample ground crew available should you have any questions or queries. The playground gets very busy. If you can, donate via the website or on the machines dotted around the site. It is part of a working military installation, so ensure you read any signage thoroughly.

Great museum to see lots of aircraft primarily stored inside out of the elements, with a few outside on display. Absolutely loved the rare Japanese aircraft, experimental odd ones like the Bristol 188 and the Gloster Meteor Prone. Each of the planes have placards with plenty information about the history of that plane that is on display. They are the only place where you can find all of the V-Series bombers all intact, but unfortunately the Cold War hall is so crammed full of planes, that you truly cannot appreciate or completely see all of the planes. The museum overall is free, there is a fee to park which you supposedly can pay in advance online (it did not work for me), or you can pay inside because none of the machines in the parking lot work. There is also a cafe to get something to eat, located immediately to the left when you walk into the entrance.

Driving back from somewhere we stopped here early afternoon. Really cool museum. Since it's part of the RAF base and airfield, you regularly hear small aircraft flying overhead so no need for artificial airplane sound effects while you walk through multiple hangers full of aeronautical history dating back to the late 1800s.

An amazing place to visit,if you enjoy seeing Warplanes of all types up close. Many genuine examples of rare aircraft throughout history, including many captured examples from World War II,also some amazing but obscure British Test planes some of which I had never seen before. The Cold War Hangar is a real treat, with a number of iconic Aircraft some of which, such as the Vulcan and Victor were actually part of the Famous Air Raid on the Falklands in 1982. The Staff and Volunteers are extremely helpful and knowledgeable on the display Aircraft. An enjoyable day out with first class facilities and attractions.

£5 to park and the entry is free. Marvellous selection of vehicles spanning all conflicts and times but especially Cold War. Some very rare and unique test aircraft and Mk1 prototypes. Very clean and tidy all round with excellent disabled access, chair and buggy free hire (first come, first served basis). Didn't use the cafe but the shop is well stocked with all sorts of models, toys and gifts. If you have any passion for aircraft, this is a must but make sure you prebook tickets on line first!

This was an outstanding experience. I could spend several days here as there is such a lot to see and do. The planes are well maintained and displayed in a fantastic hanger. This is an excellent venue for children as well

Excellent and fascinating day out for family and aircraft enthusiasts. Tremendous display of old and more recent aeroplanes, helicopters, rockets, missiles and tanks. Deep insight into WW2 and other major historic events. A great day out and it's free. You have to pay a small fee for parking and all charitable donations gratefully accepted. One slight disappointment was the cafe. They seemed to be understaffed. There was a shortage of cakes and sandwiches and sadly the cakes were solid, dry and tasteless. Also, probably due to staff shortages the tables weren't being cleared efficiently, nor the backlog of full trays of used cups and containers. However this only slightly detracted from a fantastic historic exhibition, which was the main purpose of the visit.

What a brilliant day!!! Such amazing value for money. £6.50 for car parking and that’s it!!!! We arrived at 11am and left at 4pm with more still to see. They ran some amazing half term activities that were again free. There are a couple of options for paid experiences as well. I would consider looking into these at future visits. The kitchen was a little expensive. The food delicious and well presented. There were no indication of objections to bringing picnics or your own food. We had snacks with us that we had with lunch but hadn’t anticipated it being a full day so needed to buy more. The team were lovely and so knowledgeable. Paul S spoke the boys through the inside of the cockpits, David gave us an insight into Hanger 1 with the chinook and Amy has sold half term visits to us. We highly recommend the day for all ages.

Royal Air Force Museum Midland, which is the best tourists attraction destination at 2022. Entry free for all. It is opening at 10 am and closing on 5 pm. You can see different kind of aircraft collection ( including Nasi flights was captured by RAF), royal air force history and some of world wars memories . You can try simulators and virtual experiences for reasonable price. Also it has cafe and kids play area. Best place to bring school kids. Parking available for £ 7.50. Recommended place 👍.

I can't believe this place is free. Well maintained with friendly staff and excellent displays. Nice cafes throughout and plenty of room, even when busy. Children's play area is excellent too and very well thought out.

Great experience. Well worth asking the volunteers dotted around any questions you may have. Only downside is a lack of catering BUT we ALWAYS take a picnic with us. One outlet with VERY limited seating. And a small menu too. ALL in all well worth a visit

5 stars all the way, easy and accessible parking, very welcoming team/volunteers. The parking for the day is £6.50 with no entry costs however donations are welcome. This is not forced on you though and throughout the experience there are areas to donate if you wish. Each member of staff we meet were friendly, extremely knowledgeable and were able to adapt the information for suit either my wife or I, or our very chatty 3 year old. The displays are second to none from my experience with plenty of room to view each aircraft. After a 3 hour drive to visit I would be happy to do it all over again!

What an amazing experience for our kids and ourselves.....Miles and Miles of information but presented so well to keep the kids active. A very decent gift shop. The only pity was Hangar 1 was closed for filming...but still so much on show All this and it was FREE...How brilliant Car parking is £7.50 though but the machines will take debit and credit cards as well.

Nice little day out with the kids. Would be nice to be able to go into some of the planes but I'm sure they have their reasons. Other than that it's a lovely place to visit and see some unique planes.

👍👍 After recently moving to Shropshire and driving past this church we knew we had to go in and have a look. Such a beautiful big church with so much history behind it and there's the remains of an old infirmary next to it. There's plenty of information boards up telling you all the history inside and...
