We love the Maritime Museum. Visited the Monsters of the Deep Exhibition and followed the fascinating trail of mythical monsters and how they came to be so popular. Fascinating collection of real monsters of the deep too.

We really enjoyed visiting the museum. The displays were interesting and well laid out. Lots of fascinating and historical information and artifacts. The tattoo exhibition and monsters of the deep were particularly interesting. Well worth a visit 😁

Great place to visit, loved the Tidal Zones watching the fish in the river. Good exhibits and one ticket gets you in all year!

Wonderful place to look at but very expensive not worth the entry fee of £16 for adults and £8 for kids considering what's on offer enjoyed my visit to the museum not a great deal of history would not return

Probably one of the main things to do in Falmouth. Very overpriced for what it is really, cost over £50 for us all to get into this. Went as a family of 5, kids aged 11, 7 and 5. To say you have to pay for kids is a bit much as most of it is just reading and the kids were not engaged or entertained at all, nothing interactive for them. They have a find a seagull adventure map going on for kids- we only found 4 and even doing that with the kids to try and keep them entertained was hard. The pirate section I didn’t really get just kept referring back to films and the treasure island book so mainly fictional based pirates with the odd reference to maybe something being a bit true. The best bit was the pirate show they have going on in the summer holidays, which lasted about 30 mins. Toilets were very dirty, tissue all over the floor and toilets sounding like they were going to fall off the wall, when you sit on it. Tickets last a year but I can safely say we won’t be using them again. If you are adults you might find it slightly better, but for families I wouldn’t bother. Overall we thought this visit was a bit pants or in this case a lack of pants…

Wonderful museum right in the Heart of Falmouth. Great exhibits, the tattoo and pirate ones are particularly great ! The little boat pool is awesome fun, with just a small donation box that takes contactless

Nice educational place. Went on a rainy day so every man and their dog was there. Still enjoyed it. They had a pirate area at my time of visit which was interesting. The bottom floor where you can see under the water is good to see a bit of marine life too

Fantastic museum and great harbour etc. Lots of exhibits and shows for the kids, plus eclectic mix of stuff. Very easy to while away a whole afternoon here.

An OK 'average' museum experience. Not sure the £15.50 entry fee was justified in all honesty. Some boats displayed with little history or what made them special enough to include. A tattoo exhibition which was informative. The "Ive seen a monster" also ok but a bit theatrical. At least you get free entry to visit again within 12 months.

Lots to do and see for all the family. Great with or without kids.Loved the myths and monsters exhibits. Only disappointment was very limited food and drink offfer in cafe. Maybe that will change for main season.

I'm not really interested in boats however I found this museum was very interesting. The layout if the museum was very good with cLear directions. The main exhibit part had lots of interesting facts, information and stories associated with the boats. The special Monsters of the Deep exhibit was what my son and I found particularly interesting. It was excellent! Full of past beliefs, search techniques and exhibits of examples of deep sea creatures. We were happy to drive an hour and a half in rainy weather to get to Falmouth to see this. Very well worth it. Very well recommended to anyone whether they like boats or not.

Fantastic little museum with a great amount of child interactive exhibits and historical pieces for the adults. Great views from top of the museum and a tidal window at the bottom that you can see the contents of Falmouth harbour. Will go back at high tide next time

Always love visiting the maritime museum. Pirates is good but not the best we've seen here. Titanic exhibition was awesome. Good prices to get in and your ticket lasts all year as well

Amazing place! Went here for a rainy day and had a look round....some amazing exhibits and really interesting display of the relationship between Cornwall and the sea. Go up to the tower gallery to get a great panoramic view of Falmouth Marina!

Went to see the sea king helicopter that used to be there, but unfortunately it's gone now. Still enjoyed the trip and exhibits and chat with Micky,I think a volunteer member of staff. Good tattoo display and information was interesting and Viking cruise ship was moored in the harbour,a bonus . Views from the tower are great.

Really enjoy our annual pass at the maritime museum. Extremely child friendly and lovely staff and volunteers on hand to help with anything you need. A highlight is the tidal room on the bottom floor!

Great museum to visit when in Cornwall a ticket price covers a year's worth of visits too so well worth the money. The only reason I'm knocking a star off is the lack of activities for the really little ones there's a play area but its not very big at all. So when you have a toddler it can be hard work finding things to keep them busy. The new RNLI bits are brilliant but when we went it was quiet I would not personally go during the busy season my kids wouldn't get near being able to play on them. The Monsters of the deep section is great though, I have a 7 year old and he was fascinated.

The Maritime Museum in Falmouth is a very interesting and rather unique experience. Their showcases of boats are particularly impressive, with the layout of the museum (with the boats suspended) being very cool. There is plenty to see here, especially for people who enjoy reading about history. The entertainment here is great, there's an RC boat pool you can play with, as well as plays and shows taking place in the main area.

We went there on my birthday, the museum was not as busy as it used to due to covid ,which is sad we were the only people there ,I enjoyed it so much though ,the boat display was nice, the supernatural section was so cool , the staff are so helpful and polite . I definitely recommend it!.

  • 5/5 Daniel C. 7 months ago on Google
Very very interesting pace to visit. Plenty to do for kids like making your own pirate hat, a pirate show and lots of RNLI gear for them to play on from an ATV, life boat ans jet ski. Loads or exhibits for older skis and adults as well. Well worth a visit for a family day out or even a general interest visit. Only down side is parking which is £2.29 per hour.

This is a really impressive museum detailing about maritime situated in the heart of Falmouth. There are many exhibitions over 3 floors at the site and all of the exhibitions are very informative and very well presented along with being easily laid out. As you can walk into the place you will see an array of boats some of which are on the ground and also hung in the air from the ceiling all of which are very impressive and there are detailed information boards about each boat and yacht. There is a really good informative exhibition about Pirates, how they ruled the sea and plundered the riches of others. The Pirates exhibition also talks about how the most prominent and distinctive pirate movies and fictional books through history were inspired by writers. There are other exhibitions on the history of Falmouth and its docks how they came into being and how it became a key trading post with the rest of the world. On the ground you can also learn about the RNLI and the vehicles they use to rescue people from the sea. You can also learn about boat building and the key materials involved in that process. Other good features of the museum are the lookout at the very top of the building where you enjoy some gorgeous views of Falmouth Docks and the boats and also you can also go to the bottom floor of the building and witness the tidal flow of the River and see some of the creatures that inhabit it. The staff on site are extremely friendly and helpful giving you a warm welcome and informing you what to see making the experience all the more better. There is a decent cafe on site offering food at reasonable prices and you can sit back and enjoy the picturesque Falmouth Harbour. There is also a gift shop with Souvenirs at reasonable prices. Overall this is an excellent visit and a great experience to enjoy and take in some wonderful views of Falmouth Harbour.

Great visit and perfect for what was a damp dreary day. Lots to look at and all very interesting. Nice cafe - simple food selection done well and with great views. Lovely gift shop.

Was a good venue to look around. More for adults than children really as not too much interaction on exhibits. A lot of areas where lots of reading is required. Quite a quiet venue when we visited too.

A nice informative visit. Priced a little high but plenty to see. The Pirate exhibition was good and also the history behind the 'Tattoo' exhibition was a interesting. On the whole a worthwhile visit

Amazing for kids. The show ' I saw a monster' had cool panto vibes as well as being informative. Interactive displays and play area were a big hit with our 5 yr olds. Staff are also very knowledgeable and friendly.

Good family friendly museum in the heart of Falmouth. Lots to see and do inside with interactive tables encouraging guest to get involved. Definitely geared towards children. The Observatory floor look out point gives vista views of Falmouth Harbour and surrounding areas which are stunning. Would recommend. Included inside is a cafe, toilets and gift shop. Adult entry £16.50, felt a little pricey for what it was.

Rainy day in November, so we headed to the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth. Quite a few families with younger children had as well and our visit was to a background of screams and shouting from the play area. If this would annoy you, best to go early or late in the day! Entry is not cheap (£60+ for four adults) - I know they need the income but felt a bit expensive - although the ticket is valid for a year! Lots to see and all really well laid out but if you want to see anything in the underwater viewing area, make sure you don't visit at low tide!

We went for the Monsters of the deep exhibition, absolutely awesome highly recommended. So interesting and loads to do. If you get the chance definitely check it out.

  • 3/5 David S. 2 years ago on Google
Good but not great. I think there wasn't enough explanations for many elements such as tides. I wanted to learn more but found the explanation really quite poor. The monsters of the deep was OK but why put the strange creatures far too high for children or shorter adults to see. There are plenty of small craft but no larger vessels. The information re early Cornwall and its people was interesting and well presented. Overall I think slightly disappointing for the price.

Lots to do for primary school aged children. The performance 'I saw a monster' , the be tentacle trail and the make and take activity were the be favourites. There was also a little model motorboat steering activity which was great. The cafe is good, with treats, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and snacks. Service was great. The staff were lovely all the way through. Car parking was easy (we used the Dell car park and stayed for about 6 hours) Well done to the team. We had a really good day.

This is a superb place to visit, for all ages. Great mixture of things to see and do. There was a special show about the sea when we went with music, singing and dancing. Lovely cafe.

Well laid out. Plenty to see and enjoy. Honestly impressed. You get so used to tourist attractions being disappointing...this museum is wonderful... after three hours we had to leave and we had not completed the tour of the museum..we will return soon.. especially as the entry ticket allows us to return included within the entry price!

We had such a great visit to the maritime museum. We were worried there wouldn't be enough for our children (3yrs and 18months)to do but they loved it. Really well thought out. Very interactive, and we were so pleased with the theatre show and craft activity too. All staff were so helpful too. Thoroughly recommended. We will be back!

👍 Lovely clean beach with places to eat and drink too. The views are beautiful. Only a 15 min walk from the main town and there are plenty of B&Bs around with a sea view. The only thing that let's it down for me is that dogs are only allowed on the beach in the winter months.
