Great small nature reserve next to the hirst locks. It has a large variety of flowers and small shrubs. Plenty of seats an small paths to explore. Fairly quite, has a pond which had a couple of dragon flies. Also a lot of pond skaters. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

An excellent place for a good walk for you & your dog, you have the woods, canal & the river, suitable in all kinds of weather, but would recommend sturdy boots in the woods as it can get a little muddy. I normally take my dog through the woods, then along the canal, & along the river. You can walk towards Saltaire or if you prefer to walk further there is always shipley Glen. Depending on walking pace, I would say it can take around 1-2 hrs (Shipley Glen & Saltaire much longer)

A lovely walk alongside the Canal to Dowley Gap where the Fisherman's Arms awaits for a nice drink or a nice dinner, then walk back along the river Aire to Saltaire such a nice walk.

The area needs more bins on the trail because of all the rubbish. The view was nice and the place is great.

Another great area for a walk to 'commune with nature'. This is a regular walk for us, whether starting at Dowley Gap or at Hirst Wood car park. One can choose to walk along the canal or the riverside to Roberts Park, returning by the woods themselves. Seasonal changes bring changing vistas from bluebell strewn woods through bright summer days, extending into the wonderful autumnal hues before the crisp coldness of winter descends. A lovely place to walk and admire.

Absolutely beautiful, my favourite walk, Dowley Gap to Baildon Green. Has everything you could wish for, birdsong, dappled sunlight falling through the trees, the river, the occasional canoeist or rower, cows in the open fields, ducks, geese, sometimes a heron. Lovely old mossy gnarled trees, little streams joining the river, a weir with the loud noise of rushing water.

Hidden gem within 5 miles vicinity of Bradford. Its serene, picturesque and quite a fun trail. You can even take bike ride through this trail all the way upto Bingley. You can rent boats for a short river ride. Overall a must visit place if you are in Yorkshire.

Good tarmac carpark. Lots of dog walkers. Pleasant river, canal and woodland walks nearby. Pleasant pond, flower beds and benches to watch the birds and passers-by. Calm atmosphere. Lovely area.
