It is the biggest shopping centre in Newcastle city which houses the best brands of food, clothing, fashion, electrical and electronic shops etc. It used to have wonderful decorations during the Christmas break. It has various entrances, such as the Haymarket, and Northumberland street. It has two metro stations near by.

Eldon Square is an ok shopping centre with some good shops. Some parts of the shopping centre were like a ghost town though, full of empty shops. Eldon Square has some nice places to eat, however, I have been to much better shopping centres in the UK with fantastic food halls selling Fish & Chips to Chinese! Merry Hill operated by intu in the Midlands is one such shopping centre. I really disliked the Eldon Square carpark though as it uses an unfamiliar CHECK- IN and CHECK-OUT system which is ok if you are a local and understand how the carpark operates, but any new visitor or tourist to the area is very likely to be caught out by NOT checking in, resulting in a fine. And what makes it worse, is it seems the carpark owners KNOW this as several of their carpark attendants (who you cannot find if you have a question!) come out in force at specific times to inspect cars and issue fines. Not nice at all. Many carparks just provide a carpark ticket at the main gate for paying, or just use numberplate recognition, both of these methods are unconfusing and ease to use. But Eldon Square chooses a much more complicated system, and it's reason is clearly PROFIT!

I have always really liked walking around Eldon Square. Today was my 1st time back since March and it felt good to be out shopping and safe with the arrows showing you which side to walk on. It was good to be back!

The best shopping centre in the North East. It has a great variety of shops and restaurants and having the John Lewis and Fenwick department stores is a bonus, the only thing it currently lacks is leisure facilities as the Eldon Leisure Centre is currently closed, which I hope will reopen soon in the future.

A really nice place to spend a couple of hours shopping. There is a great range of shops with something to interest most people and cater for most budgets. Shops range from pound land to Superdry. There is plenty of space to move around with a good choice of places to refuel. There are cafés upto restaurants and everything in-between.

Eldon Square Mall is an excellent shopping destination in Newcastle. Best location to shop. The variety of shops meets every need and the open layout offers a pleasant shopping experience. All under one roof, stretched across two storeys. Clean the toilets. Lovely environment. I definitely loved my first visit here. A must-see destination for shopping fans!

We annually visit Newcastle each year around Christmas period to take in the city and visit family and we spend a fair amount of time in Eldon Square. This place has every food choice catered for with a decent amount of vegan options available also. It is our go to sit to pick up some last minute Christmas gifts as well. It is the largest selection of shipping options in the city in my opinion and also usually has a very friendly charity gift wrapping service on which I recommend you so by.

Visiting the North? Visit Newcastle Upon Tyne! This is the best salmon and sea trout River South of Scotland. I know because I catch them. Some great beats all the way to Hexham and beyond. If you best bargain shopping for big name luxury items, it is the city's Eldon Square you want. Go by bus or rail, walk there! Run there! Leave your car at home and skip there! Eldon Square is central for the shops of course, but but why not get a bus there for North Shields, Gateshead, Tynemouth or one of the 100s of Northumberlands charismatic villages, harbours and communities. Make the bus connection up to Edinburgh, or for Carlisle, Cumberland and the Lake District mountains. Did you know you can go by bus to Belfast, to Ireland, the Mountains of Mourne? And it can all start from Eldon Square. Go there to Newcastle and make it all happen!

Eldon Square was built as part of the 1825–40 reconstruction of Newcastle city centre. Designed by Charles Leonard Hartwell, and unveiled by Earl Haig in 1923, the war memorial is situated at the centre of the square. It is a large Portland stone pedestal, with a different relief on each of the four sides. North: the words "Memory Lingers Here" above a bronze sculptured wreath. South: a sculptured picture of a lion below the dates 1914–1918 and 1939–1945. East: a bronze relief of Justice, displaying two grieving women and a third (Lady Justice) holding the scales. West: a bronze relief of Peace, displaying a woman with a child and the Angel of Peace. On the top is a large bronze equestrian statue of Saint George, the patron saint of infantrymen and cavalrymen, slaying the dragon

Easy access from buses, trains and the metro, plus within walking distance of the main Newcastle car parks although it could be difficult it you struggle with walking in anyway. Plenty of shops and clean toilets, worth a visit if you're looking for gifts but not sure what to buy.

Ample parking for the city centre location, only pay for the time you stay, nice place to shop shame so many units are empty in Eldon Gardens though. Needs public support, shop on foot not online.

Overall a good shopping centre & it’s also got the main bus station there it’s got just about everything you need there’s lifts available if your unable to use the escalator plus there’s plenty of toilets also there’s plenty of different entry/exit points to take you to different locations in the city & I’ve found the security staff that walk around are helpful in giving directions if you need to find certain shops plus there’s plenty of places to stop for coffee or grab some food there are some empty stores but some have new store opening soon signs up. Yes it can look empty at times but I think most places are with the shift into online shopping

A local shopping institution. Opened in 1977 by Lizzy Windsor this early shopping mall has undergone many changes over the years. Sadly 2020 could see the closure of its long established history with the retail market due to the lack of footfall and online shopping.

Shopping centre packed with shops of all kinds from John Lewis to Lush. A separate section has a selection of restaurants but sadly several have closed probably down to the pandemic. Still a nice place to browse through some of the UK major retailers.

Layout can seem a bit confusing at first but easy once you've worked it out. Not over the top crowded like other shopping centres I've been to. Has a good selection of shops including 3 department stores. Shame we don't have this kind of thing in Sheffield.

This is not the best shopping centre at all it’s probably the worst ,the car parking is a nightmare to get to as there are bus lanes one way streets and no entry it even confuses the sat nav. You spend hours driving around to find the entrance to the car parks to find your at least 6 floors up and lifts are out of order,it’s dirty and not very well kept at all .the parking instructions are very strange and confusing ,lots of people stood around the parking machine to find out that they had received a parking charge notice because they didn’t sign in when they arrived ,£50 fine to walk round an empty shopping centre ,go to the metro centre instead .lots more shops, free parking and much easier to get to, and no risk of getting a parking charge notice for £50 to £70 .we would never go back to Eldon square ever. It’s dead

  • 4/5 Ian F. 1 year ago on Google
We aimed for the parking place first but that got a bit confusing when we pulled into the loading bay. No problem, as we took instructions and were soon properly parked in the high rise circular car park (felt odd to be parked against the rim.

Usually very busy indeed. Not a place that I hit much these days, but there's plenty of shops to please most folk and good eateries too. Ok, too many people stroll through at one mile an hour blocking the entire walkway, but surf over those numbskulls and you're absolutely fine.

  • 4/5 A B. 1 year ago on Google
Very nice here. Paid parking in John Lewis was about £2.70 per hour (Oct 2022). So it was a bit pricey but easy to park and felt safe there. Hence only 4 stars... If the cost was better to park I would give 5 stars. A good variety of shops. Plenty of toilets which seemed to be reasonably clean. Places to eat and drink if you wanted. Clean inside the main areas. Felt quite safe because there were visible staff in the main area as well as in shops.

Always loved this place, especially moving after Rememberance Sunday when all of the wreaths have been placed. There is a large amount of seating available in the form of benches and each one is dedicated to specific branch of the armed forces. This summer they had deckchairs and a big screen and this winter a Christmas Market.

Very big mall, spent the whole day there! and the bus station is right inside it. It's close to the stadium and the university. All the shops you can think off are in there even restaurants. PS: Victoria secrets just opened there just incase you're looking for one in North East as I was😄. Would just recommend more direction maps as we had to keep asking people for the shops we were looking for.

I've only been to Eldon Square a handful of times. Honestly, it's just because the parking is part of it, so i walk through to get out of the car park. But walking around you can see it has a huge selection of stores, everything you are going to need will be in here from electronics, stationery, clothing and food.

  • 3/5 Saskia R. 1 year ago on Google
Big, busy and easy to get lost in. The shops are convenient and I believe it's dog friendly? But it's stuffy and I personally don't love being there. It is a shopping centre though and you can definitely do that there

Great place to wander around in the city centre, especially on riany days. Majority of the units are occupied, with a variety of different stores, which makes a nice change from wandering along empty high streets! Have always found it to be very clean and tidy, even when busy, and there are plenty of food options as well to make it great for a day out.

The shopping centre is a great indoor space with plenty of different restaurants. It makes a welcome retreat from outdoor Newcastle, which I found to be the dirtiest city (litter and a general indication people don't care) I have seen in recent years.

What a fantastic place newcastle city centre is! Very well laid out with a great range of shops, restaurants and other facilities! So much to see and do we never had time to see it all! Have to say the Eldon shopping centre is probably one of the biggest and best I've ever seen - rivals the metro centre!

I love the soft play in eldon Square but it's on a bit on dear side just for about hr and half. Big Families wouldn't be able to take theirs there, even if it was £1 cheaper they would be able get more people in.but kids do have a fantastic time there and friendly staff too

Amazing! One of the few places left where they actually have a wide selection of stores to visit best location in the area for shopping that I have seen with a food court and even a soft play for the kids. Went there for the first time today. Very packed full of people. The ladies toilets in there are abismal. The queue was horrifically long. There was no cleaning staff around half the hand wash stations were empty and a few of the taps are broken. Won’t be going again. Shops were okay if you don’t mind people waking into you a lot.

Called customer service to let them know the button to exit to the roof car park was not working. Response 'YOU need to report this to the council.' No I don't. It's not my building and sorry to take the time out of your busy 'Jobsworth' day. This is affecting YOUR customers, that you obviously don't care about.

For me, Eldon Square is the heart of the shopping zone in Newcastle city center with John Lewis and FedEx being at the crux. Towards the back of the complex you have the newer shops such as Apple Levi's and Monsoon. I was quite impressed to see on the lower floor all the new food outlets. There's a huge variety and something there for everyone. There is also a very handy shopping information point near John Lewis and Fenwicks where you can ask real people questions. Any queries and they'll put you in the right direction. We were a little disappointed to see at the far end of the shopping complex. Some of the old stores have closed down now and they looked slightly redundant but I guess that's the way things are at the moment.
