An old fashioned but convenient shopping complex on two floors. Has variety of shops, walk in NHS medical centre, Boswells Coffee house and various other shops. Parking in the same block with direct access to the shops. Very lively at Xmas time with great decorations and a large Christmas tree in the centre.

Lovely place. Nice kid's rides all around the mall for little ones to enjoy.

A main stay of Reading. Car park is an interesting one to find and navigate the rather narrow and winding entrance. Needs more parent and child parking. That said good range of shops and amenities, clean, well lit and feels safe. Good to be undercover and within striking distance of lots of other parts of Reading centre.

Broad Street Mall is a shopping center located in the town of Reading, Berkshire, in the United Kingdom. The mall was opened in 1971 and has since undergone several refurbishments to modernize its facilities and improve the shopping experience for its customers. The mall is home to over 60 shops and restaurants, including popular retailers such as Primark, Boots, and Wilko, as well as a range of independent businesses. It also features a food court and a cinema. Broad Street Mall is conveniently located in the town center, making it easily accessible by public transportation. It is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, and serves as a hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment in the area

Car parking experience is Not the best. Car entrances and exits can be narrow in places, and potentially confusing. Also ceilings are fairly low (so take care if you open your tailgate). But gets easier with practice. Parking is open 24 hours (but some of the stairs close when the mail is closed). Useful if going to the Reading Biscuit Factory, Hexagon, Spinners, etc.

I've nothing nice to say about visiting this place, so I'll just say I will not visit again. We only went to register my partner's vaccination details as apparently there's only a handful of places that can process this information in our good country... #notbitteratall

A small but good quality shopping centre on the west side of Reading's town centre. Plenty of car parking, as well as many bus stops outside too. A good handful of shops and cafés inside, and the centre is well laid out, also being clean and tidy. Compliments the larger, more modern The Oracle nicely! 😌

Only go here if the oracle is closed and you are forced to come here against your will. To be honest whatever the punishment is it's probably better than visiting this dump. However there is a Poundland and you can get 2 (refrigerated) 500ml bottles of vimto for 1 pound, so I have raised the review to 2 stars.

Very dated very shabby. Lots of boarding. Really looks run down. No longer a nice part of town centre. With so much history it should be better looked after.

Broad Street Mall is doing its best to appeal to customers amid the empty shops. Looks rather 'sad' these days. They have made an effort to cheer the place up with some Christmas decorations which is good. Hopefully things will turnaround in the new year.

This is NOT meant for the Broad St Mall employees and management in regards to the 2 minutes silence today (Saturday), they did an excellent job. Shame about the lady in the centre part of the Mall still selling her samosas and talking. Please try and remember UK traditions.

Very tatty and tired looking. The most interesting thing about it used to be the old Target music venue just outside which has been completely abandoned. You can get a coffee and a meal from some of the cafes but there’s not a lot of actual shopping shops available unless you’re happy to buy everything you want from Wilko.

Not good! We were so excited for our Santa meeting session and took the platinum package worth £26 but the pictures didn’t do the justice. They are not professional and are not even using good dslr camera. The pictures turned out dark and dull which was not expected.

Broad Street Mall in Reading offers convenient shopping with a good mix of stores and dining options. Clean and well-maintained, though it could benefit from more diverse boutiques. Crowd levels during peak hours may impact the overall experience.

This place is just tired. I have lived in Reading for 25 years and cannot recall it ever having full occupancy. With the demise of Wilko there seems to be very little reason to go here.

Branded as Reading's original mall, this centre hosts a lot of small businesses and amenities. Central location in town makes it a place paraded by lot of people.

I always shop here. The place has great ambiance and shops are easy to locate.

In years gone by, this use to be the main Shopping Centre of Reading..St Mary's Butts Shopping Centre on Broad street. In its heyday, it was the hub,the place to go to ( if not to shop, then just hang-out) the shops were plentiful and I recall there being a huge ARGOS store. Now, a shadow of its former self, glory days over, replaced by THE ORACLE. Still, a few shops strive in the Mall,,,Post Office, WILKO, TKMAXX, SUPERDRUG, NHS HEALTH CENTRE, BEAUTY PARLOURS, READING BUS INFORMATION SHOP and various other shops.

  • 4/5 Dan G. 1 year ago on Google
Not as fancy as the Oracle but better value for money. There's Wilko for everything, TKMax for all clothing and Superdrugs for all the medicine, just to name a few. Bright and well lit but closes earlier than the Oracle.

  • 5/5 Benjamin P. 1 year ago on Google
Is a bit old but has a great atmosphere and various different shops. Is worth a visit

Nice shopping centre real shop rather than stand oracle layout that seems to be blueprint for most shopping centres these days

  • 5/5 Sadheesh R. 1 year ago on Google
It’s a good mall with variety of shops around. The decorations in the mall is nice as well. The only challenge is the rest room

  • 3/5 Abraham Y. 1 year ago on Google
It seems the mall was once a trendy and landmark in Reading town center. However now it is outdated in design and lacking of attraction inside. Still it does not a broken mall. Indeed it's location is good.

  • 3/5 Albert J (. 1 year ago on Google
Entrance and exit of the car park is like labiryth with narrow lanes where easy to scratch rims of the car. Price per 1 h higher then expected but not dramatic £1,60 Mall itself is nothing special on ground floor. I can't tell what is on upper floors, didn't went there - I was just looking for the Fast Food and preferably drive through. But found just that one. As I've seen, apart of Greegs, other fast food restaurants are outside, so you have to enter them from the street.

  • 4/5 Zoe W. 1 year ago on Google
Always go to Broad Street Mall for specific items. Post office is great, staff helpful. Shops not as expensive as The Oracle. Love the card shop and The Works. Parking quite expensive though.

  • 1/5 Isaac M. 1 year ago on Google
Good facilities however for what good TGI’s plaza has the mall staff other than the cleaners are obnoxious, rude and u welcoming providing a negative atmosphere. He en forbid needing to use the loo before closing time. You are made to leave and walk around to the car park! Common sense is most definitely lacked!

  • 3/5 M A. 1 year ago on Google
All malls are very similar with lots of shops so no issues. The parking charges at the Riverside especially for over 2 hours of parking is frankly outrageous .

  • 4/5 Dark S. 8 months ago on Google
Used to be good shopping mall however now days most of the places are closed after pandemic and whatever left is just normal shops and doesn’t looks so attractive for a customer to buy something really.

Worst toilet I’ve ever been. Loo should be cleaned regularly. Christmas decors are always lovely. I like the health shops like Grape Tree & Holland & Barrett

  • 3/5 PUREinFo 4 months ago on Google
Broad Street Mall was a busy shopping centre based in the heart of reading. The mall has a unique mix of big brand and independent retail and lifestyle brands such as TK Maxx, Wilko, Poundland, Holland and Barrett, Grape Tree, Home Fragrance, F Hinds and Warren James. But now in  Broad Street Mall imany shops closed but still have some shops specially food brands such as Burger King, Taco Bell, Subway, Greggs etc. For those looking for leisure and entertainment, Broad Street Mall is the proud home of Reading Biscuit Factory, a brand-new cinema and community hub with an in venue bar and café. If you’re looking for something a little different, then Spinners is the place for cocktails, Crazy Golf, Ten Pin bowling, and darts. I think 🤔 there need more big brands so that people can attract otherwise there no interest

Parked here to attend a work meeting in another office as I don't live locally. Shame that Wilko has closed as walking through here, I couldn't see any shops that I would come here specifically to go to other than maybe TKMaxx. One of the lifts was broken which meant we had to walk with the pram to the other side of the shopping centre to get to the 2nd floor of the car park. VERY friendly young man (I assume a security guard?) walked us to the working lift though and took the time to make conversation. I didn't get his name but he was a young bloke with braids who mentioned he had a young daughter. Would be nice if he got recognised for this fantastic service as he is the only reason this is getting a 4 star rather than a 3. Baby changing facilities by car park were also really good. Normally only 1 baby changing unit available but there were 3 rooms so we didn't have to wait to change baby.

Shopping centre in the heart of Reading. You can find all sorts of shops and services inside. I would reccomend to visit the Oracle as well, it is not far away from the Broad Street Mall and it's even bigger.

  • 4/5 Russell R. 7 months ago on Google
Broad Street mall is a quirky little mall on the edge of Reading Town centre. I don't think I'd visit much, except the car park is usually less busy and more convenient than the Oracle. If you do use the car park, beware that the lanes going up are amazingly tight, and the ceiling height amazingly low. Good luck not scraping a wheel rim! The top level (open air) is where I park because its less busy and the parking spaces seem bigger. The shops are an odd collection, TK Maxx is always worth a quick browse, and Superdrug is there, otherwise generally a mix of non-high-street shops, and a barbers.

  • 5/5 Carla 7 months ago on Google
I used the carpark after retail hours and I was confused at how to get out! A lovely man on the deliveries/disabled access intercom told us where we had to go thankfully we didn't miss our movie...if you're reading this thankyou Mr!

  • 2/5 Jules S. 8 months ago on Google
Dirty toilets, cleaners always walking around chatting and not like oracle constantly checking loos. Also security guards should just stand outside Greggs and stop the thieves helping theirselves at both busy and quiet times..

  • 4/5 Andy L. 7 months ago on Google
Recently refurbished, and looking good. Could do with a few more big brands, and cheaper parking, considering it's not quite central. £8.10 for 4 hours as opposed to £10 in The Oracle, still seems pricey..

  • 4/5 John S. 1 year ago on Google
I have always liked the Broad Street Mall. It's relatively small and on a more human, welcoming scale than the nearby Oracle. It also has TKMAXX, a major attraction.

prefer this to the Oracle, smaller shops. Boswells cafe is excellent. dogs not welcome though

  • 5/5 Alexander K. 11 months ago on Google
The oldest of two shopping centres in Reading, Broad Street Mall contains a wide selection of more budget friendly stores and popup traders. Step free access throughout along with public toilets.

  • 3/5 Steve D. 11 months ago on Google
Every time I visit, I get the feeling that it's closing down. Same outlets, same felling. Many are still closed as they have been for years. This venue could do so much more, I feel that the owners don't want to make changes

  • 3/5 Kellie L. 10 months ago on Google
Plenty of parking and makes high street more accessible compared to parking in the Oracle. On the expensive side and signs aren't straightforward once you're inside! It's like a maze finding the way out lol, but used it a few times and still prefer it just for the location. Car park is still open when the shopping centre is closed but wasn't easy to find the way up to the parking on our first visit - a very grumpy cleaner directed us though. I guess he must've been asked the same thing repeatedly beforehand 😅

It's not too bad. So different to what I remember as a child :( but we move with the times. I literally went into two shops, tkmaxx and poundland.

I regularly visit this place. Overall the place isn't bad average variety of shops. Toilets are also available however they often are dirty. Parking also is available however it's paid.

  • 3/5 Coops C. 2 years ago on Google
Average. You could be anywhere. You will see the same shops here as anywhere else. It was nice & clean though.

  • 4/5 Adrian F. 2 years ago on Google
Much improved from yesteryear and they are definitely making the most of an old building impressive, could do with updating the toilets and still lacking the shops that draw you in but overall good experience and you always have to visit because you never know what is going on, keeps you guessing

I visited Foodies (next to the escalator in Broad Street Mall) today for the third time - no suitable place to leave this review except BSM after checking - first time it was great and got introduced to the "secret naam wrap" that isn't on the menu, second time for the same product it cost me more for less, third time it cost me EVEN more for something that was less than the second time. Operator accused me of lying, which I don't understand when it was himself who served me and said the "secret menu" was for NHS staff only. Great idea giving a secret menu for our NHS heroes, terrible execution and customer service when the menu isn't the same every time. Won't be visiting here again, that's for sure.

Good location. Decent stores. Centrally located

  • 2/5 Jane f. 2 years ago on Google
Ok but on closure at 6pm could do with more security and clear announcements re which exits to the car park are open? I went up to 1st floor to go out way I came in and a shop worker stopped me to tell me I wouldn't get out that way. It's not helpful to expect everyone to leave then close most of the car park exits!

  • 3/5 Just J. 2 years ago on Google
Sadly neglected mall, far from it’s glory days as The Butts Centre. I have fond memories of this venue but it’s in desperate need of some love. I believe this could be in the wings if the media are correct. Looking forward to seeing it brought back to life 😁👍

A good mall, with good but narrow roaded parking. Just enough options for you to walk and cover. Not big as Oracle but has good local market at times and the new cake box counter is good.

  • 3/5 Colin B. 2 years ago on Google
Sadly it's starting to show its age. The finishings are a bit tired and really it's home to mostly discount stores now. Still busy when I was there (November 21). There is an NHS walk-in clinic on the first floor and currently there is an NHS vaccination centre on the ground floor. The attached car park is reasonably priced.

Dated but practical, it gives a 70s vibe, it's old but well maintained, some of the shops are great including TKMaxx, does it have the sparkle as 'the Oracle' - NO! does it do the job, YES!

  • 3/5 Jasper V. 2 years ago on Google
Mall is really due a renovations, looks all a bit run down and not great shops in there. Could do with a bit of love and some new shops.

  • 4/5 David P. 2 years ago on Google
Great little shopping centre in the heart of Reading, I even had my vaccine there and was very well organised. Only giving it 4 stars as lacking car parks and what is around is extortionate!

  • 5/5 Caroline L. 2 years ago on Google
Am fond of the Broad St Mall. I go to Boswells which I love and Wilkinsons is very good so is the card shop and bookshop. But am annoyed at the waste for the environment produced by Greggs and Taco Bell, to save on table clearing and washing up staff. Shamefull.

  • 5/5 Sarcastic T. 2 years ago on Google
Went here for the covid vaccinations and realized it'd been years since I was last here. Apart from the feeling of nostalgia, it was a pleasant surprise to find a lot of useful shops. Holland and Barrett, there is an organic nuts and dried fruit shop which was much better value than other places, and a few other gems. If the climate crisis wipes out the Oracle, this place looks like it'll still be standing (and have the same shops).

  • 3/5 Lionel P. 1 year ago on Google
Small mall that has Wilko's, TK Max, Holland and Barrett. Some fast food brands. NHS. The gym and physical therapists as well which is handy after too much lifting at the gym or carrying copious amounts of shopping bags !

Still feels run down, but they're doing better things to the outside and the car park is decent (if very expensive). The shops on the outside and ground floor are a bit better than those inside and upstairs; and the signage is really confusing!

At the further end of Reading, this is more of a 'locals' shopping centre than a big glitzy city centre shopping mall. Lots of smaller, cheaper shops, most units seemed to be in use unlike in lots of large shopping centres these days. The place was busy and festive.
