It was hard to guess from just looking at the building built in 1853, that it would have so much information about the history of Salt Mills, a beautiful gallery of paintings by the famous David Hockney, creating using an iPad, an amazing cafe & diner, antique & jewelry section, beautiful display of 3D paper cards, really showed the much appreciated “Making” culture of the folks of the Saltaire village society. I was overall very impressed with the plethora of ingenious Artwork and vintage collection, that I mostly saw in the movies, absolutely loved being here!!!Outside of the salts mill, was a beautiful park for friends & families to spend quality time in nature together:)

A friend recommended a trip here and I spent a good couple of hours mooching around all the floors in the building.... lots of local artisans, concession shops, art installations, museum pieces, as well as David Hockney artworks. Plenty of places to grab food or a coffee, so don't stop at the first place you come across! Free parking.

Stunning grade 2 listed former textile mill in Saltaire, near Bradford. The main thing that draws visitors to here is the marvellous collections of David Hockney art, which is housed on a couple of the floors. The whole building makes for a great day out. There's galleries, shops, cafes and an exhibition about the history and working processes of the old mill. It's got plenty of free parking and toilet facilities.

This place was absolutely fabulous. I had no idea about the history of Saltaire and was in awe of it. The video presentation which was roughly 40-50 minutes was hugely informative. There's something for everyone here be it art, architecture, history, eateries, antiques. Well worth a visit. My only regret is that I didn't have enough time to fully take in all the information about the production side of things. You could easily spend a full day here!

Great historical place for a walk around! We didn’t eat in the cafe unfortunately as we visited at Sunday lunch time and the queue to be seated was enormous!!! Highly recommend a visit here

Brilliant place, lots of places to eat and drink nearby. Gallery and bookshop here etc. Some lovely walks by the river too. Free parking on the road outside and most of the streets nearby. Excellent place to visit.

A beautifully preserved Victorian mill building with a huge capacity. The main attraction is the world's largest David Hockney art collection, which is creatively mixed in with Victorian ceramics and artefacts from the mill, and spread over the ground and top floors. There are also exhibitions from other local artists, a room dedicated to the history of the mill, an impressive bookshop, a beautiful home store, a jewellery designer showroom, and an antiques emporium. Plenty to keep you occupied for a while then! And when you start to flag, there's a choice of two excellent quality cafes, serving hot food and wine, as well as the usual coffee and cakes, and it's table service too. There are also loos on every floor. Such a well organised space, and a well thought out visitor experience. Loved it!

I wish I lived closer to this place. Went here with relatives from the area and thoroughly enjoyed it. A huge mill converted into a multi use venue with an art gallery, bookshop, food hall and upmarket shop selling designer housewares. The art gallery is fantastic with plenty of different artists but with a big David Hockney theme. Great day out for art lovers.

Not quite what I expected was hoping for original machinery in the museum but that only occupies one room and the history is primarily told through video. The rest of the amazing space is filled with David Hockney exhibition and various artisan shops, more than enough to peruse on a day out. The food on offer is good but the restaurant was very busy. Well worth a trip.

What an incredible place this is! I love the history behind it all and the philanthropy is evident all around. Artworks, home furnishings and large restaurant complete the experience. You can also walk along the canal towpath to bingley ( only 3 miles away) to see the amazing five rise locks.

Wonderful choice of books on art and other matters. Inspirational place. The art is amazing...the gallery space outstanding. Friendly helpful staff (we asked to leave our suitcase as we were staying over and didn't want to drag it round with us). We return annually for gifts, cards etc. And always will

Brilliant day out for the family, plenty to see and do. Despite going on a bank holiday weekend, it wasn't too busy at all and had a great atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. We had a great meal which was delicious, fresh and reasonably priced. Lots to see in the surrounding area too.

We’ve visited several times and always love it. Spread over server all floors there’s something for everyone. Beautiful books and artist materials on the ground floor. Then up to a larger selection of books, art prints, antiques and more. The restaurant is great although we went on a bank holiday Monday so I’d recommend booking in advance. We didn’t mind the wait (40 mins) for a table. We’ve visited so many times before and not normally had to wait. The food is absolutely lovely and it is worth it. There’s usually extra galleries on the very top floors that are worth a visit. Ample free parking.

Wonderful to see such an iconic building being used again. Four floors of very interesting and eclectic things, including much of David Hockney's more recent art done on computer and iPod. Lovely food served in two restaurants on the second and third floors. Four floors in total. The photos are taken on the fourth floor and architecturally very interesting.

The Mill is so imposing and very large, set over acres! The Hockney exhibition and crafts in the Mill hall we're also very interesting. We loved the industrial architecture. More fascinating ,for us, was the village of Saltaire. The Town Hall is grand, The United Reformed church unusual, and the Victorian terraces very quaint. We were lucky to get chatting to a local great grandmother, proud to live there, and telling us local history (thanks Betty!)

Love visiting this place … art supplies on the ground floor, go up a level for books, resturant, art, shops and the “kitchen/home shop” which is amazing. Great for a mooch and to collect ideas , contemplate the next direction on a project. Kinda works for kids but depends on their interests … remember you can catch a train here and there is the canal … so lots to see

What an absolutely spectacular building this is. Once used to produce alpaca wool suits, it has been beautiful maintained and is now home to art galleries, shops and a wonderful diner. Spent a couple of hours here and could definitely have spent longer. Absolutely loved it.

Had a good time at the Mill and surrounding areas with our three young children, despite heavy rain all day. The gallery spaces are fantastic, as are the art supplies and bookshop. We didn't eat at the cafes, the food looked good but we were just looking for sandwiches, which they don't really cater for unfortunately. Roberts Park has a good playground for the kids and the Half Moon cafe has some good paninis, toasties, cakes etc. at reasonable prices. Will visit again in spring to hopefully get more out of the place.

Great place to walk around, so much history here. The story of how the mill has remained over the decades and who bought and kept it going. Saltaire is a lovely place and we need to keep the heritage alive. Even bradford with its amazing architecture.. its all free no tickets needed. Salts mill car park is also free. Which is an added bonus .

Absolutely loved it here! Been saying I wanted to visit for ages, finally went and I'm glad I did! I was mesmerised by the video that was played, really enjoyed learning the history of Titus Salt and his empire and values... Well worth a visit!

Lovely mill with David Hockney galleries. Too much space for a book shop when I expected more artwork. Also when it’s busy in the cafe it’s easy to miss gallery 2 as people gather round the doorway, better signage is needed. Beautiful surroundings inside the mill, great for a lazy Sunday walk around.

Amazing space and David Hockney exhibitions. Fantastic gift shop and book store. Plenty to see and all for free. Also has a massive free parking lot attached. Don't miss it!

It was a beautiful day out there.. can easily plan for a day with family or friends and I went with my wife. It was time well spent. Nature walk, salts mill - was all good. Antique store in the mill was the highlight for me. Cafe was too busy to experience any food :) art work was intriguing.

Visited on a bank holiday monday and there were a number of Hockney exhibitions open to the public. There are also a number of shops including a very good book shop. Cafe and restaurant was bustling and looked good but did not stop for food. The building is huge and I was drawn by the sheer quantity and quality of York stone slabs used to make up the flooring. Substantial!

Beautiful place to visit. Plenty of free parking and disabled parking near to the entrance. Visited the David Hockney exhibition which was wonderful and well laid out. Plenty of opportunity to purchase souvenirs in the shop. The shop is also well stocked with books and gifts. Lift available to all floors. Restaurant is lovely but disappointed that the coffee shop was closed. Food was delicious and served beautifully. Definitely worth a visit.

What a great place - stunning building and fascinating content (the galleries and the shops). The Hockney exhibitions are hugely engaging. The shops are equally engaging - exhibitions in their own right. Loads to explore outside too.

One of the finest gallery spaces I have ever visited. The building itself is awe inspiring, and featured fantastic, vast exhibitions from David Hockney and photographer Ian Beesley. Super nice!

Very spacious galleries, bookshops, cafes, antique shops. Well worth a visit and at present had works of art by Bradford born artist David Hockney on 3 floors.

Wonderful selection of art, books and craft materials in a nice location and topped off with a diner on the top floor which served delicious food. Caters to allergies/intolerances (gluten/dairy). Would highly recommend their teas and bakes/sweet treats. Very good place to buy gifts!

One of our favourite places to visit, beautifully kept and presented. The galleries are wonderful (Currently the Hockney Spring exhibition) and I could lose myself in the bookshop for hours. There are many stairs but there is a lift and lots of parking. The restaurant is great for meals or just coffee and cake, and provides great high chairs. I noticed vegan and dairy free options but didn’t ask about celiac safety. Park and walks nearby.
