We attended a wedding reception. Large car park and exterior looked good. Beautiful well maintained garden. Inside was a total different story. Rooms were dull and had signs of wear and tear. The toilets were very bad, disabled toilet didn't have lock and other had broken hand dryer. Carpets were old and tatty. The only good thing I can mention is that it has prayer rooms for men and women.

To start off with the positives. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. They are obviously running on skeleton staff as the bar staff also look after all the evening meal orders. The breakfast is run by one person front of house and reception is manned by one person also covering other duties. The food was well cooked and the evening meals from the bar menu (your only option) are good value. Breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold food, again all very tasty. Our room was clean and looked out over the back of the hotel onto fields so a pleasant view and quiet. The room furniture had a few knocks and the bathroom fan made the strangest of noises. Housekeeping obviously do the best they can but the rooms do feel tired and in need of some TLC. We booked a Privilege Room but they don't do these any more so do make sure you are paying the right price as they now seem to offer just classic and superior rooms. The grounds and large car park are mainly well kept but a few of the outside lights need replacement bulbs. Overall we had a very pleasant 3 night stay and the location was ideal for us.

I was there for a meeting in one of the conference rooms, staff were polite, hospitable and really friendly. The place is quiet as no buildings around which is a plus for you’re looking for some peace and quiet. I highly recommend

Disappointing in that the hotel had been selected as having a lift and with mobility issues to be situated upstairs as far from reception as was possible to be was not good. It was also unfortunate that the only place to eat an evening meal was in the bar around small tables. This was not good as we had invited two guests to join us. The food was very good but the experience was not great.

Really good stay, staff really helpful, breakfast options great and great services. Room was cold, windows don't close, traffic noise, cold water tap doesn't operate properly. Layout of room good but doesn't suit my needs as I need plug socket next to bed for my CAP machine. Reception offered to move me but I chose to stay in the room as this was only a three night stay and this is not a complaint. Plan to be staying with you for the next 18 months all being well.

Had afternoon tea this weekend and can't recommend this beautiful hotel enough. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and there was so much food we took 4 tubs home with us - they even catered for our daughter last minute. A massive thank you to Joel Young @ Murcure Leeds who arranged for us to have a/tea here even though we booked it at a different venue 5* customer service. Will def visit again in the summer for a glass of wine next to the River Aire

The staff are great as always Happy to help and assist, The hotel is old and could do with some sprucing up but I keep coming back because I feel welcomed and the rooms are double or treble size you would find in most modern day hotels. Breakfast great with lost of choice. Staff very engaging.

I was worried having heard some bad reviews. What a lovely surprise . The staff were outstanding, location excellent for our purpose. The rooms very comfortable and clean . Good facilities . I wondered what some of the reviews meant as it bore no resemblance to the hotel we are staying in. Having a great stay , 100% reccomend. Ooh and bar and food also excellent .

Booked to stay here for one night a few weeks ago as we had an event on close by so this hotel seemed to be the best value for money at the time. All was confirmed but when we went to check in for around 3:00pm my booking wasn’t on the system, the lady on reception luckily managed to sort a room out for us and she was very helpful. The room was dated but clean so nothing wrong on that side, but we only had one towel between two, and the corridor had a very strong smell of smoke (Cannabis) and it made it’s way into the room overnight which wasn’t pleasant. The check out time was 11am and with us being out till quite late the night before it seemed quite appealing, however I didn’t expect to be woken up at 8:45am by house keeping opening up the bedroom door otherwise I would have put the do not disturb sign on it. Overall a very poor stay and I will not be returning, I do regret not asking for a refund now, would give 0 stars if possible.

The location is great. That's about all I can say. The room was supposed to be an upgrade.. hate to see what the original room was like.. blood stains on the carpet, chair. And I would hate to guess what the stains were on the wall and ceiling. The door handle to the bathroom was held on by luck rather than screws. Lift didn't work. It was a bit of a maze ti find way through... Service was friendly in the bar and reception. But as for the rest. Meh.

Staff very friendly & courteous. Rooms clean. However a few things not good. . Had to ask for another bath/hand towel, as only one set in a double room booking . A bed sheet put straight on top of mattress with no mattress protector (very unhygienic) ! . Heavy winter weight doublet in hot summer. Way too hot to have over you. Please use summer weight duvet? . Hotel is a bit tired, but reasonably priced.

I have stayed a number of times with you and have always had a good value and pleasant stay. This time however I had very little sleep even with the windows closed due to traffic noise. The room was hot and a bit smelly too. The shower would not stay upright and even getting a dribble of hot water was difficult. Room 208

This hotel was OK for a National Holidays venue, it needs a lot of modernisation and air conditioning. It has a nice garden area and is well situated for touring Yorkshire. The staff are lovely, they were extremely kind and considerate and went out of their way to help me.

We stayed two nights. We were welcomed when checking in at reception. The room was fine, and was warm. We got woken up during the night from guests who had been drinking. Most seem to have left by early morning. The second night (Saturday) was much quieter, and we slept well. Breakfast was pretty good. Just 2 comments. The milk for the cereal wasn't cold. Also, the coffee machine needs instructions. I saw one person try for 5 minutes before he walked away without drinks. The machine is a little unusual compared to other drinks machines.

The person at reception and at the bar were lovely and friendly. Unfortunately, not much else was.. I checked-in and read the info sheet in the room which said food is served at the bar til 9:30pm. I went to the bar at 9pm and they said they are not serving food, so I thought I must have read the info wrong and asked if they sell crisps/snacks. They'd run out. I hadn't eaten since 8am as I'd had a manic day and a 3.5 hour drive there. The room was very cold as the radiator didn't work (the radiators in the hall worked so I know the heating was on), so I called reception and they brought up a heater - a small electric radiator which didn't warm the room up. So I went to run a bath to warm myself up. It had black hairs in it and dirt around the taps, handles and overflow. This was dirt that wiped off easily, so not sure why it hadn't been cleaned. I used the hand towel and some shampoo to wash the bath and the fittings. The toilet had also not been cleaned and there was no toilet brush to clean it. I have photos of the hairs, dirt and showing the state of the hand towel after washing the bath - as I say, the dirt wiped off easily. It's a shame as it's a nice building on the outside.

The room we were given was really basic. My colleague and I did not have a good night sleep. There was lot of traffic noise. Also the middle part of the bed was wet so I had to call them. My colleague’s bed has mould dew. And my bathroom was covered with more than 20 wasps in the morning. Horrible experience. Will never go there again!!!

The receptionist nearly smiled. The room paint was coming of the window sill in the bathroom screws were sticking out of the bath panel the floor sank as tho their was was a big hole under the lino my wife would not walk on it she was frightened she might fall through the furniture was shabby. The breakfast bacon nice but sausage was Richmond or walls no fresh fruit melon not cartons of yogurt just a bowl wish they had local sausage it would have been good all in all not worth the money as a member I have stayed at the hotel for 4 years it has gone down in my opinion the only plus it was clean . Probably won't stay here again. There was nobody on reception when we booked out Tip use to Toby carvery you need to book

I couldn't tell you about the rooms to sleep in as I didn't use them. I was on the graduation ball committee for the University of Bradford's nursing cohort, and so only attended the rooms done up for the ball, not the bedrooms. The staff are all lovely and polite. The hotel is clean, the dj can read his audience really well and has a variety of music. The food was lovely, and inexpensive for what we required of them. We were able to ask for Halal, vegetarian, and gluten free food, and the hotel were really accommodating. It was a wonderful evening for us, which we've worked hard for. Thank you for making it special.

Having stayed here many times, it was the same old, same old. The staff are very good, as are the breakfasts, however the fabric of the building is in need of a major refurbishment. The bathroom floor was uneven and spongy, and the windows were apparently leaking around the cills which appeared to be rotting.

The Hotel was clean and tidy, spacious room, generous car parking area. Part older building with a newer addition. The food was pretty awful. Dinner was a lottery as 50% was not available. The starter was good, the main overcooked and the desert was bland. The bar-restaurant staff appeared confused. Breakfast, there were no staff in the area, eventually a lady appeared to take my cooked food order. It arrived red hot but all undercooked.

Cannot fault for the price. I went to the hotel with my elderly mother. One problem that we encountered was the lift doesn't go to all of the building. We checked in early free of charge (amazing) but my mother struggled with the stairs. We went down to reception and the young lady kindly moved my mum to a ground floor room, she was very pleasant, more of a tour guide than a receptionist her local knowledge was amazing. The bar staff we very helpful, and Dan helped me move my mums things. The rooms were clean and tidy, there was not any shower gel or soap in the room but overall great experience and when we next visit family we will be going again.

Apart from there not being any entertainment it was great. It was too far from any where that did have anything going on, which was the only drawback. The staff went out of their way to help, they was friendly and courteous , rooms and the hotel in general was spotless. The breakfast and evening meal was excellent.

Lovely hotel, very clean and the food was great. All the staff were very friendly & helpfull. Only one negative was that the room was really really cold, there was no heating, just a little portable radiator heater.

God enough hotel - room was comfortable at a good price. Seems really aimed at corporate market. While room rate was good drinks were dear - a small wine anything between ÂŁ6.60 and ÂŁ9.00. Breakfast was ÂŁ15.99 - we ate along the road in Wetherspoons for ÂŁ8.00 for two!!!!

Nice large hotel in lovely gardens. Was there at a very well organised charity function. The food & drink was nice , entertainment was great. However the service was not brilliant, staff seemed uninterested & just wanted to get it over with- temporary staff maybe for that night only as not usually like that !

The staff members were very unhelpful and gave misleading information to fob us off so she won’t need to deal with the issue at hand. I booked the mercure website like last time ended up with a much small cramped old filthy room with pillow covers in the corner of room. They advised they will move us to another room in a better wing where we stayed before and told us to wait patiently till the next only not to be able to provide us with a promises made. DO NOT RECOMMEND. I will not be coming back!!!

I was here with friends from work as a short break. Coach trip was OK. Hotel was busy due to wedding and 2 coach trips. This did not stop the staff from being friendly and very helpful. Food was OK but again busy, for the money we paid it was absolutely fine. Rooms were basic but clean. No complaints

Beautiful exterior to the main, old part of the building. The inside could definitely do with renovating. Rooms quite dark with signs of wear and tear. The receptionist was amazing, friendly and very helpful when we arrived , as were the waiting staff at breakfast. The housekeeping team tried to let themselves in our room twice quite early on one of our mornings! The wedding reception we attended was beautifully done with plenty of servers. The 4 stars is mainly for the people that work there. The hotel needs a bit of TLC.

Beautiful location with clean and spacious rooms. However there's only elevators for a half the building so you may have to use a lot of stairs. Some issues checking in but we're resolved quickly enough. Kind staff. Wish there were vending machines or something to get a snack for the middle of the night

Reception and staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. Room was clean but I struggled getting up/down on the toilet and getting in/out of the shower/bath due to no grab rails for support. Breakfast was made up of a Limited selection therefore fruit or toast were my only options. If I had those x2 things my stay would have been more manageable and a. Igger selection for breakfast.

Booked a room. Check in was at 3pm. I emailed to ask if I could check in at 1pm. I was only staying for a few hours. They replied and said that it was fine. Upon arrival they inform me that it will cost ÂŁ20 extra. The chap on the counter was not helpful and his English was poor. The room had no mini fridge. The hotel needs updating and smelt of cigarettes. Won't be using them again.

Stayed here a couple of months ago as a last minute getaway for the family. A wonderful hotel to stay at; made even better by the care, consideration and welcoming demeanor of the reception team. A special shout of to Beth who made me and my partner feel at ease and also gave us amazing local knowledge for places to eat, go as well as child friendly places. Wonderful food, nice room and felt very safe staying here. Would definitely stay again!

Would advise people to stay away from this hotel. Looks beautiful on the outside, very poor and dirty as soon as you leave the lobby. Room not what we ordered, dirty and uncomfortable. Have stayed in multiple hotels (including Mercure) around the world and this was the worst. Restaurant closes 10pm which is understandable but no room service or bar snacks available. Purchased breakfast but was so disappointed didn’t even stay for it. Still awaiting a response from management. Staff made excuses but were polite enough.

Stayed here recently having been a regular guest. Booked two economy rooms which were only ÂŁ50 per night. We knew to expect rooms being basic and have never had any issues in the past, however on this stay the rooms were absolutely FREEZING. It was minus 6 outside and the radiators were not working. The rooms were provided with an oil filled radiator which were not up to the job. In my room the bathroom Dimplex heater was broken, so much so I had to shower in the other room as was so cold. My sister had also booked this hotel at the same time, separately and had to change room for the same issues...her room was stone cold and no radiators were working. We could have requested to move rooms however, having checked in late and only staying for one night, it was easier to grin and bear it. Like I said, we had stayed in the past and although the decor is basic and tired, the bed is comfortable and we knew what to expect, however the hotel should not be allocating rooms where there is sub standard heating issues, especially in mid winter. As I had said, this issue occurred in three seperate rooms. The hotel must have known about it. It's a shame as the staff are lovely and location is great too, but please sort out the heating issues ASAP!

Comfortable short stay, Reasonably priced .Ive nothing to complain about this hotel. Bed was comfy, piping hot water for a bath if required. A additional heater was added to the room for those who prefer tropical warmth. I would use this Hotel again when in the Bradford area.

We called in for an afternoon tea and unfortunately we were the only guests in this huge hotel. I visited the toilet and a tap was broken and replaced with an industrial red metal stop valve! Also no toilet paper either. This hotel used to be thriving but it felt sad. The afternoon tea was freshly made and we enjoyed that part. It was sad to see the hotel with no atmosphere. All the staff we met was lovely though.

A period property with 70’s annexes added to it, this hotel is starting to show its age. A good location, with plenty of free parking, but appears to be rather quiet. I paid a good price and was happy with my room. Reading other reviews not all my be in the best condition, but everything was clean and tidy, decent bed and pillows, and a Sumsung TV. Reception staff were excellent. Various aspects of the building are starting to weather, creaky floorboards in the corridor, stained carpets, secondary glazed metal frame windows due for replacement. The only gripe I had was the fresh air ventilation box letting in a constant supply of cold air, which is terribly inefficient, and a radiator that didn’t get very warm as it requires bleeding. On the whole a pleasant stay, good value, nice staff, and I booked further nights.

  • 4/5 Matt S. 1 year ago on Google
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was very good too, evening meal and breakfast. Rooms were very well looked after and functional, although the room in the main building was extremely warm, to the point where sleeping became an issue. My room in the extended wing has no such problem and I had a restful night's sleep. Other than the heating, this would be a 5 star review.
