I
was
alarmed
at
the
lack
of
urgency
in
dealing
with
a
very
real
hazard.
We
stayed
overnight
in
room
703
on
21st
July.
My
daughter
had
washed
her
hair
and
went
to
use
the
hotel
Hairdryer,
upon
picking
up
the
Hairdryer
she
found
that
it
rattled,
so
something
was
obviously
loose
inside
it,
believing
that
the
hotel
(4
star!)
would
not
allow
faulty
equipment
to
be
left
in
the
room
she
switched
it
on.
Immediately
it
started
to
spark
and
crackle
leaving
a
burning
smell
which
we
were
surprised
did
not
set
off
the
smoke
alarm.
We
switched
it
off
and
opened
the
window,
on
closer
inspection
the
body
of
the
Hairdryer
was
damaged
and
there
was
melted
plastic
on
the
nozzle.
I
went
down
to
the
reception
to
report
the
problem.
There
were
two
staff
on
duty,
I
informed
them
that
there
was
a
problem
with
the
Hairdryer
and
what
happened,
giving
my
room
number,
they
looked
at
each
other
then
told
me
that
they
would
send
someone
up,
writing
the
room
number
on
a
scrap
of
paper,
this
was
at
22:10.
I
asked
about
a
replacement
Hairdryer
which
they
said
they
would
sort
that
out
for
me.
I
went
back
to
the
room
and
waited,
after
an
hour
we
decided
that
they
meant
as
soon
as
possible/in
the
morning.
We
had
breakfast
downstairs
in
the
restaurant
at
06:30,
a
good
selection,
but
the
cooked
food
was
warm,
not
hot.
We
got
ready
to
go
to
my
daughters
graduation,
but
still
no
replacement
or
anyone
visiting
the
room.
When
we
returned
from
the
ceremony
at
lunchtime
we
found
that
the
room
cards
did
not
work
even
though
we
had
paid
for
a
later
checkout
(when
we
checked
in
there
were
no
bottles
of
water
or
biscuits
that
came
with
the
late
checkout,
and
only
two
cups
for
a
3
person
occupancy,
the
reception
managed
to
sort
this
out
whilst
we
were
out
for
a
meal
and
gave
us
a
free
drink
at
the
bar)
To
say
that
the
hotel
is
a
4
star
is
a
stretch,
the
room
was
not
prepared
for
three
occupants,
the
furniture
was
worn
with
nail
varnish
on
the
table
and
the
top
of
the
fabric
chair
was
very
worn/threadbare,
no
attention
to
the
later
checkout
with
key
cards.
The
only
thing
that
was
a
plus
was
the
central
location,
but
this
was
let
down
by
the
lack
of
parking.
There
was
an
NCP
car
park
which
the
hotel
gave
discount
on
overnight
parking.
I
do
not
think
that
we
will
be
staying
at
this
Jurys
Inn
or
any
of
their
other
hotels
anytime
soon,
very
disappointed...
