Today 24/05/2022 at 4am I was there for my kidney problem which is nephrotic syndrome. I have been told that I had to seat there for at least 7 hours then a doctor would be able to to just see me. In the waiting area there were only 5 or 6 people waiting and they said that I had to stay there for 7 painful hours and itโ€™s like to them I was spouse to wait for my flight in the airport. I donโ€™t know what happens in their head. If I donโ€™t get treated soon I will face with many complications. And itโ€™s my both kidneys they are not my teeth.

Visited my critically ill father yesterday and the bin right next to his bed was overflowing, no-one asked who I was or offered any help or information to me during my visit, I tersely had my dad's notes snatched out of my hand by a nurse. My dad was cold and had repeatedly asked for an extra blanket which was denied him. He asked for tea and water but it as ignored . His meals were put out of reach and would've been cold and inedible if I hadn't have been there to help. I left feeling quite shocked. Not just at my father's decline......but as to the lack of care. I genuinely felt invisible and quite depressed . The staff seemed as zombified as the patients. For the first time ever I felt quite hopeless.

We went to the A&E because my husband had an allergy reaction I have to say the nurse was amazing, when I asked her how can she handle the work here she sad she is happy if she can help also the doctor very polite came after me saying that I can go sit with my husband and explained me what is going on with my husband. I must say they treated my husband amazing and he was already fine once we left the hospital

Absolutely appalling medical care if you could call it care in A & E. If you have chest pain or a heart attack and get taken here you ate guaranteed death 100%. They will just throw one or MAYBE (if you're really lucky) 2, paracetamol at you and stick you in a side room whilst you wait to die. This is the exact care you will receive at St Jimmy's and you will wait 5-14 hours for those paracetamol. Nothing more nothing less. It is a National disgrace. If you somehow and miraculously survive their 'care' they will send you on your way with zero plan in place, after care or pain relief. Good luck is all I can tell you, you are going to need it. Prey to your god if you get sent here and say your last prayers

Every day, I reflect on our experience giving birth to my daughter at St James University Hospital. Visiting St James was the best decision we ever made. Starting with student midwives, midwifery support personnel, midwives, and doctors, everyone I met there was caring and thorough. The midwives that delivered our baby were incredible and a blessing in my life. We were able to welcome our darling baby into the world thanks to their assistance, which spanned the prenatal ward, birth suite, and postnatal care. We went from being strength to strength at every turn at the beginning of our pregnancy to giving birth with joy and strength. We had the pleasure of being cared for by many of the midwives and student midwives. Each one was kind and encouraging and made our birth experience a positive one, however we would like to thank the doctor team - Chris, Michelle - midwife delivery suite and Tasneema firdous, Naz Akhtar - midwifeโ€™s from postnatal care for their unconditional support, genuine care and professionalism. They are absolutely credit to St James university hospital. Thanks to each and everyone of you!

very poor environment. went in with my brother due to him having severe sunburn , blistering & sore and have been seen once in the seven hours weโ€™ve been here. horrible staff , told them we wanted to leave but would keep getting told weโ€™re next. Saw one staff member walking around with visible cuts all over her arms which was disturbing as my brother has a past of self harm. meant to be medical professionals and walk around chatting , cuts up and down arm , laughing amongst them selves and not doing their jobs. very poor , horrible place.

If I could give this place no stars I would. I have 2 different experience of this place and both are very bad. The first was from an employee standpoint. Cleaning beds and infected rooms after patients left home and what I saw in my first few weeks led me to change my university degree as I quickly saw there was no caring in the nursing profession. Bullying was rife from supervisors who if you did you job well they blocked you from rising the ranks or trying to better yourself. Holidays that you wanted were wielded like a weapon and used to blackmail you. Now I have recently had the experience of being a relative of a patient mistreated. My mother who went in with back pain, caught MRSA and Cdiff the 2 hospital superbugs, I walked in one day to find her trying to get out of a hospital bed that was set to the highest height setting, to get to a commode with no bed pan in and covered in poo. The sandwich she was eating was covered in poo aswell. I complained and I got a phone call from the ward manager apologising. "It wasn't the level of care she strived for on her ward" fair enough their understaffed hopefully it doesn't happen again. Now my mum has been transferred her purse which they took for safe keeping with ยฃ168 in has gone missing. Seems the management on ward J17 of Geldhow Wing is mediocre at best and would be run better by clowns. An apology this time is just not gonna cut it. My opinion go to a different hospital. UPDATE My mum has ended up back in hospital this June and again we have found the level of care to be horrendous. She's on J16 this time again in Gledhow, we've found poo on the bed rails and her knee brace. Her teeth are not getting brushed. She has MRSA again. She's been so weak and unable to feed herself and no staff have been sitting down to actually help her eat. I was then brought in for a meeting to discuss stopping antibiotics and letting the next infection take its course and kill her off to then discover she's not been getting an injection She's suppose to have every week that boosts her immune system. Now having issues with the social worker involved who is trying to bully the family into putting my mum into a care home with CQC scores of inadequate just because they are the cheapest option.

I booked hospital transport as I live in Bradford which is the other side of Leeds. It came fine in the morning but when it came to the journey home we were sat for over 2 hours just because the person who booked the transport hadn't put the correct details in the system. I had told the person who booked the appointment that I would need to travel in my own wheelchair but they didn't put that on the system so we had to wait until an appropriate vehicle could come, I know this is a free service but when you are in absolute agony it isn't very nice to have to sit waiting just because someone didn't do their job correctly.

This is an absolutely amazing hospital. Anyone who says anything different might be way too judgemental. I have never received better care than I have in this hospital. I have only ever been a patient in the respiratory ward and the women's health and gynecology wards. My comfort and safety are their top priorities. I know they suffer from staff shortages just like most hospitals after COVID but they are MUCH better at dealing with it. I had a surgery scheduled on a nurse strike day and they went above and beyond and I still ended up getting me treated. They just moved me to a different area in the hospital. Trust me, if it comes between this hospital and Leeds General, choose this one.

A&E WORST CARE, DONโ€™T GO! No care for any patients in the blue ward of A&E. Nurses such as Brendon (older man with an awful ponytail) were more bothered about cleaning and turning over beds than making sure the patients were comfortable. Surely porters and cleaners can sort out the beds. 19 hours and over 90 seizures later and nothing was done to help. We already knew that a EEG was needed before getting there, but it took the inadequate need for nearly 11 hours to go by before being seen by a medic to be told that an EEG was needed. Then fast forward another 12 hours and nothing had still been done to help. A porter also found a female patient on Facebook from using patient records without her knowing and requested to follow her which must go against the NHS regulations. Absolutely appalling way to treat patients, truly degrading place and needs to be sorted. DEATH will occur there due to the incompetence and laziness of the majority of the medical staff.

The Opthamology, Urology Specialists were the specialists made huge difference to treatment & attitude. The doctors who treated me, were kind understanding finally put year's of being misdiagnosed behind me. Genuinely need more Doctor's in all department's like these two!

Appalling - sent round in circles on the telephone. Staff do not know what they are doing. Spoke to 5 people before I got to the right place. Karen who stuggled to give me her name (Waiting list coordinator) demanded to know why I wanted to cancelappointment - not democratic and very oppressive - told me she could cancel but I could not book a new appointment. Pity these people do not know the NHS is run for patients - not to pay them a salary and pension

Delivered our first baby at St James's Hospital, I couldn't thank all the staff enough at the Maternity and Delivery Unit. They were literally on their toes with me while I was going though on intense Induced labour. NHS staff definitely don't get enough credit for all their hard work and efforts. Thank you very much again!

Pathetic service, no one knew anything what they were doing. How long is the wait to see the doctor oh it says on the board. Itโ€™s 5 hours from when you 1st came in oh no itโ€™s changed itโ€™s now 10 hours since you 1st came in. There were NO Doctors available at all, they were just saying yes doctor is busy they are seeing the patients but funny thing was they were not calling no ones names or seeing no body all the patients were sat around in the waiting area. After the whole nigh of the wait about 12 hours later after changing the doctorโ€™s s shifts they started to call the patients to check them. Rude staff โ€œoh yes we are working, oh yes just waitโ€, oh everything is written on the board. Few of them didnโ€™t have the clue whatโ€™s going on, couldnโ€™t even say a word apart from saying โ€œoh I donโ€™t know, I am not sureโ€ Ridiculous service!!

Huge NHS hospital a part of Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust a university hospital, A&E is 24 / 7 at this hospital. The hospital is divided into several named buildings such as Becket wing, Lincoln, and several others. St James is located just outside leeds city centre, Parking can be a big issue, and can be exspensive. Public transport is avalable from the city and is regular. Leeds General infirmary is located in the centre of the city and is part of the same Trust. Leeds Teaching Hospital is one of Europe's largest hospitals.

I went in there many times as I am very ill, I have hypoglycaemia and severe allergy, possibly ovarian cancer but they are all deny saying that I am well and healthy and I'm dying at home next to my 4 years old child. On Sunday I had hypoglycaemia and I called 101she asked me to go to A&E so I did the Triaje Nurse sent me to a Doctor which is not part of the hospital she did intentional as they again refused me assistance sending me back home, I tried to open a complaint pals refusing to take the complaint sending me to another Agency where this Doctor is, I open again the complaint as the Triaje Nurse send me knowing that this Doctor will not help me. Please make complaints for every thing and don't let them get away with that, that's why you need to address to pals because those people are incompetents and their place should not be in a Hospital.

Plenty of parking, but its busy. Multi car park off Alma St. The Bexley Wing is modern with an open area for waiting with toilets, ships and cafe's. Pkenty of comfortable seating and volunteers playing the piano, so relaxing whilst you wait for patient care etc. Well thought out, more hospitals need this.

My father has had just been discharged from ward J49. I think the care given was adequate for my dads needs but the level of communication with family was diabolical. There was no discussion around treatment plans or goals and we had to fight to get information with several unrealised promises that the dr would call or speak to me regarding his care. If this aspect of patient care could be improved upon it would make a huge difference.

I have been struggling with a lot of pain for last 2 months Iโ€™ve seen 7 doctors and went to A&E in wales only to be given antibiotics. Today I had enough went straight to A&E in Leeds infirmary, within 5 minutes I was seen, examined and booked in with a specialist in St James Hospital. Got a taxi there waiting 20 minutes and was seen, with all tests done including scan, the specialist diagnosed me within 5 hours of tests which it took 7 other doctors to do nothing except say I have an infection which I didnโ€™t. Honestly I was expecting to wait hours to be seen with all the negativity about A&E but it was quicker then my GP and the hospital in Bangor wales who did no tests except poked and prodded me saying I have an infection. Wish I remember the specialist name but really made up with the care and experience.

Was in the hospital for 8 days they did not address my medical issue or give mr treatment despite 17 blood samples & 5 xrays. All they seem to do is take my blood pressure , check my sugar levels & temperature & give me bloodvthinnners which I did not ask for. Doctors contradict themselves leaving me unsure of what was happening.at home now no better. Very unhappy.

They arranged an urgent telephone consultation and then two hours before cancelled. The appointment was re-arranged for the following week and then the consultant did not phone me and I received no cancellation message or anything. I had re-arranged my own phone calls at work so I could have this appointment and wasted time waiting for the phone call which I wouldnโ€™t have minded if they bothered to phone. I phoned the appointment line and no-one seemed to know what was going on. So much for this being urgent then!

I was admitted onto J28 & 29 on the 30th with severe food poisoning. Wow! Romy, the nurse on 28 and Alec were just great. They couldnโ€™t do enough for you. Equally, on 29, Fatou, Lucy and Tache - absolutely amazing. They really did help me, especially mentally, keep me uplifted and in good spirits. Also, Tache, go for it!! You need to go on The Voice. You have a voice like Beyonce. Nothing compared to ward J16 & 17 - they just donโ€™t care at all.

The roads next to the hospital such as Bexley grove has a bad reputation but this is not the case here because itโ€™s different I agree but itโ€™s protected by the humans society discarded Kids playing in the street which is a good example of how the people here feel safe enough to allow their children to laugh and play in this street

The staff is rude, confused and treat patients like numbers. The worst experience my mum had at that hospital. The brutality of of the nurses is unbelievable. Nurse Victoria was very rude unhelpful and my my mum suffered in the hands of the medical staff there. They were concerned about reminding her that her life was short and faced cruel treatment from staff after they inserted a catheter to drain fluid. Two holes were made and she was left dripping wet because they had not connected the draining tube properly. The worst hospital and service ever

I attended this Hospital twice this year (2023). 8th February:- For trial Spinal Cord Stimulator 17th May:- Permanent NEVRO SCS HFX Surgery. The Staff here are Exceptional, Friendly, helpful, polite, and will go out of their way to go above and beyond to help a patient. The Hospital is Absolutely SPOTLESS. All these Hospitals in Leeds are Just Incredibly Clean. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL LEEDS HOSPITALS IN LEEDS. The LGI in the main town is brilliant. The Nurses and the doctors are Amazing. I'm not just saying this, but ALL the Hospitals are Great!! (It knocks spots off our General Hospital in Grimsby Town, Lincolnshire).

My elderly mother had to be taken to A & E by ambulance due to developing sepsis. Everyone, from the ambulance crew to all the staff at A & E were amazing. My mother was seen quickly, all the staff, doctors, nurses, and porters, were so helpful and friendly and put us at ease. This was particularly laudable as it was during the junior doctors' strike , and there was significant pressure on the service, but we cannot praise them highly enough.
