We are now living in the 21st century I am 74 and seen a lot of changes a lot for the better some not, Shipley Health centre/Westcliffe have highs and lows sadly the lows far outweigh the highs I spent most of this morning trying to talk to receptionist NOT A CHANCE all I got from 8-20 this morning was lines too busy please ring later, how many times am I supposed to ring ? If you call in at the surgery it’s great service so why can’t it be better on the phone the phone service is terrible and they should be ashamed of it but they know it’s not working good enough and they do not care enough to try and improve it, I believe it’s tactics to reduce the number of visits

What a rubbish GP practice, firstly having two sites for a practice is just plain confusing. Secondly you can NEVER get through to them at all, and when you do the attitude of the receptionist is horrible. I’m currently trying to get through to make an appointment for my child and i’m in que of 30!!! You have TWO sites meaning TWO sets of receptionist and we are still at this joke! Honestly they need to fix up or hire more receptionists coz Lord Knows they only have two doctors at the surgery. If that. I get we’re in covid a bit still but why are they not having patients come into the surgery to get checked over physically by a GP a proper GP not the clowns on the e consults or the phone who CLEARLY tel you at the beginning that they are not Dr’s but thats not who you wanted it makes nooo sense! Ive been at the Surgery for 2 years and have only spoke to a Dr once!!!! The other times its been nurses or trainee people.

Update: Still appalling service. And thanks to a know it all receptionist that actually gave me duff info and caused me more issues I have now had a quick decline in my health. I have been with this practice for over 30 years but not for much longer. The service is absolutly shocking! I am currently on hold and number 4 in the queue, I have been on the line 62 mins so far all because the doctor messed up my prescription. I spent the same amount of time on the phone to them the other day after a day of not being able to get through at all the day previous. The receptionist assured me she had rectified the problem and my medication would be ready the following day - 2 days later i still have no medication. Thats a week without my medication which i was warned that i am not allowed to just stop taking. I am absolutly shocked with the lack of service. The doctor dealing with me is also useless and has to google certain things to get an answer. It is no longer a family GP, there is no personal touch. such a shame

Appointment booking system is unacceptable. Can’t access booking online, and if you’re not able to get through on the phone in the morning you’ve got to try again the following day. Neither can you book an appointment for a different day. It’s hardly surprising that people decide to just go to A&E, or diagnose and treat themselves. The way this surgery is managed needs a complete overhaul, so that patients are getting a better level of service.

I have been with surgery for many years and I regret to say that since they changed over to Affinity care the service has really gone down hill. It used to be a family friendly caring GP service, but now the staff are very lazy. People don’t go to the surgery unless they are in need of medical assistance and are already in pain or distress to then be treated harshly or dismissed. My recent experiences have been very upsetting, you can never get through to anyone on the phone most of the time it is engaged, when you finally do get through their are no appointments it’s really sad and frustrating because it is easily rectified all they have to do is employ some more reception staff or get another line how hard is it to understand.

Such a bad service its not the staffs fault but who is suffering the patients. Since last Monday been trying to get through for help on my medical situation. If its not engaged i am in 16th in queue then when i get number 1 phone is cut of i am getting desperate now i am breathless as caught Antibac infection and the treatment has not worked. Public service this is not. Pure luck if you get through.

Stars ? You don't deserve any at all .. Care Navigator ? Errr what the......? Serious lack of care, Lack of information. Covid ? Where all other areas of public life have reduced their restrictions , This place bolts down the doors and safley retires to online and phone message service safety .... I have had bad experiences through my partners lack of care at BRI , but this place is a close 2nd....Not to mention ths staff that Hog the parking for patients.. To think the fact they laughed at people who looked on Google for symptoms and thoughts on whats wrong with them . You'd be better asking Jeeves I bet or even Confused.com.......NHS has dropped to almost a No service at all service . But hey , they freely send messages to stop smoking and join the local weight loss service...Not sure thats going to sort many people out these days when most people smoke more and eat more when they get stressed out by the service like they provide right here............N.I contribution rise this April , What for ? Beats me.... IGNORE THE ONE STAR AS YOU HAVE TO ADD AT LEAST ONE TO COMMENT......CONVENIENT EH...

Never in my life have I had to wait 4 hours to get from caller 10 to caller number one and I'm still waiting now so I'll have to call back in the morning and go through this all over again. This has been my doctors for so long but I'm done with this place, I've never encountered more heartless people in my life. And this happens everytime I call. I have anxiety issues and they're ignorance is making me worse. Dr Hayward is a great doctor though its just impossible to reach him.

The most useless practise ever! Their phone lines are always busy and always no appointments that is unless you pick your bery difficult toddler and go to the reception to ask for an appointment. It seems like once you are there appointments are available but you are already outwith a toddler and now you have to wait for few hours to see a doctor. Incredibly inconvenient place. Why do you have phone numbers at all?

Honest review. Great GP practice. Started off as a patient at westcliffe but then it merged to shipley which, at first, was not a great experience but the last 2 years or so have been much better. Access to OOH services late on the evening such as asthma reviews/ bloods etc, which is a bonus if your working. Excellent GPs, very friendly always willing to go above and beyond. They have even assessed my children in my car before when we all had covid. Referrals ever needed, always taken seriously. Not fobbed off like other practices I have previously been to. Medication requests completed by the in house pharmacists very quickly, they even send medications to different pharmacies if I’m out of area or travelling to another part of uk. As long as I’ve specified which pharmacy- it’s always done. Usually same day. Baby clinics are usually good, friendly nurses who provide consistent care. Reception staff are actually alright, never had a problem..it’s usually reception staff (from all GPs) that the bad experience starts from. But those girls are nice. The only downside I would say- that is a big downside if your elderly or unable to access online services is the phone line is always jammed. Always. You can ring and you will be 10th in the queue for over 40mins. And sometimes it will cut off and you’ll have to start again. Luckily for me, I only communicate with the GP practice online, I have done many E-consults, and always had my problem sorted. I usually get a text and a prescription from the gp etc same day. Downside is you can’t do children on e-consult, so have to ring. Parking is limited. Park at Asda if your seen at westcliffe. And park on Alexandra road if your going to Shipley. I don’t bother driving into the car park at all, fairly small and usually full. Road is easier access anyway. Overall I would give 5 stars from my experience. I am a nurse/paramedic myself and have worked alongside many doctors/nurses in different fields, and know what a good standard of care looks like. I can honestly recommend shipley medical centre for their care services. Thank you.

When you can get through, GPs, nurses and all staff are lovely, friendly, and will help you with anything you need. But obviously they are way overstretched, and it's impossible to get an appointment- as some other people have said in reviews, you either have to wait in a 10+ queue on the phone, or it just cuts you off (sometimes halfway through the queue). It might be better to have an online system for booking in the future, but their online system doesn't seem to work. I'm sadly having to change GPs due to this problem.

Can’t get through and send you to patches which doesn’t work most of the time. the process/ system looks to be designed to stop you from seeing a doctor when needed. Some receptionists / doctors are abrupt and need understand they are dealing with a patient not an object !

Shocking GP service. Can never get anybody to answer the phone to you. If it even rings and the automated system doesn't just cut you off. Can't book appointments online because it just says there's non available at all. The apps and website service are just about as useless as anything else in there. Honestly can't describe how frustratingly bad this place is.

I regularly take my resident's to Shipley and Westcliffe and I find the staff to be pleasant and helpful. I have never had to wait long and the GP's that I have seen so far have been caring and helpful.

This surgery has gone downhill badly. It's impossible to get an appointment, and even using the patches system is a nightmare since the doctors never call you back!

After looking at the opening hours on Google. Shown as 8:00am till 7:30pm on Thursday. I decided to call in after work, at around 6:15pm, to ask for a repeat prescription, only to find it was closed.

Spoke today with a Dr Curtis and honestly could've cried with how lovely she was, I've struggled with my health for the past 18 years and fir the first time I honestly felt heard. She was so sympathetic and did as much as she possibly could over the phone. Absolutely wonderful Dr!

I haven't been to the doctors for quite some time thankfully.. I rang at 8am this morning. I was in a queue of 8.. was answered within 6mins and requested an appointment. I was asked if I would prefer a telephone appointment or face to face. I was given a face to face at 10.45. Saw Dr Malik who was lovely and so very thorough. Even had a follow up telephone call. Can't fault them.

Register a caveman you may find an appointment but not here. Just go somewhere else. If you do in the next year or two, doctors and nurses are nice therefore two stars.

Can never get though always number 30 or above in the que... Took over 4 hours for them to answer last week for them to tell me there was no calls left with a doctor that day. It's locked down like a prison can't even walk through the main doors, have to speak through an intercom. I have been here all my life but I will be leaving ASAP. Can't keep putting up with this shocking service.
